Wow just think some of you call yourselves "Believers in Chirst Jesus". What a poor example of hubleness and love. Fix Health Insurance and Fix the Economy now.. Not just Obama but the U. S Government.
Barack - Charlie Sheen would like to speak with you. Just letting you know in case you were the last to find out. I believe that he has some very important documentation to hand to you.
I love it when I see bigots who call Obama the N word! You white pussies who drive trucks think you are bad! I do more manly work than you do and voted Obama and I am proud and will kick a bigots ass!
Fellow democrats! There was a group called billionaires against healthcare! you know, the ignorant fucks who collect all the money! You republicands ought to be ashamed of yourself!
People need to wake up! These people at these teabag parties are haters! They hate Blacks, latinos, gays. They willl try to block ANY, I mean ANY plam that Obama has!
These tea party idiots hate Obama because he is black and I do not want to hear lies! I am white and I am sticking with obama because you jackasses cant see Wall street moneymakers, pharmaceutical money makers and the people who have ripped off the middle class! you tea baggers are a bunch of retards!
Insurance reform and expanding Medicaid for paupers solves this problem. Allowing interstate competion and real tort reform makes healthcare more affordable. But Obama won't do any of that. He only wants massive, a socialized medical system controlled his elitist clique. If Al Qaeda wants to destroy America they better hurry. Obama's beating them to it.
People. here is the problem: Why should a person's life depend on whether or not they did everything right on an application? Why should insurance companies have the power to play God with peoples health and finances? I'm surprised by all the sociopaths commenting here. What has happened to Christian values of helping our neighbors and fellow humans. Not if it costs you a dime you say? Greed has got America by the throat.
The problem is with stupidity in this country. This is a disease spreading like wildfire. Every day I see more and more people affected by gross stupidity.
Only in America can we have people getting angry at the thought of improving our broken health care system. This ridiculous anger over nothing is proof our educational system is just as broken as our health system.
Democrats are the only ones to blame for your bill not passing. You are the elected majority correct? There are plenty of alternate proposed bills just look them up. (can't post links on youtube)
No one will be denied coverage under Obama's plan...
This means that taxpayers will be responsible for costly premiums of high-risk individuals...this includes smokers, drug abusers, obese couch potatoes, etc...
Imagine for one second that YOU had cancer, you had only months to live, we have the treatment for you. . . but oh. . . to bad, you can't afford it. . . that isn't America.
Yes, she was (dropped) from her insurance. . . but you would have to actually watch the video to know that, and you would have to have human morals to care, but that is of course to much to ask of people these days. She probably got assistance from pleading her case, but to think that people in America don't die from simply not being able to afford insurance is ignorant.
Blue cross, one of the largest health care providers in the U.S., announced some time ago that it would in fact drop patients who had pre-existing conditions if they...wait for it...did not disclose the condition to the provider. Yes, if you LIE on the application, you are subject to being dropped because of a pre-existing condition...
Obama and company tend to omit the fine details as they spew their rhetoric, stop being so gullable
What if you did not know about a condition? You appear to be doing what U accuse Obama and company of.Why didn't blue cross check for any conditions prior to extending coverage?I will tell you, they want to collect premiums and then deny you.
How ignorant can you be? Doctors aren't there only for your health, they are there to make a living... The same counts for health insurance companies. It doesn't matter if you nationalize the whole health care system, as state is also there just to make a living... with even less responsibility and accountability...
That's such a sad story. This poor lady has suffered so much, I can't imagine her desperation... The truly sad thing is that there are so many stories like hers. I really hope it works out for her.
Nevermind Right Wing lies, half truths and misinformation. This lady is what the PUBLIC OPTION is all about. These are the people Obama needs to think about.
did you all see the new commercial from the redud party they are calling women dumb thinking we cant fact check or use a computer I cant believe now saying death panels for women well women are smarter than that they know that some health insurance comp. have denied coverage for breast cancer and that half those 47 million without healthcare are women who would finally be able to get care and exams you see women are smarter than that keep calling us dumb reduds and no votes on voting day
That would create pockets around the country where quality is low based on how wealthy the area is, so even those who can afford better care in some areas wouldn't have access to it, or at the very least would have to drive long distances to obtain it. So even though insurance might inflate prices higher than they should be, it isn't going away.
And if you think the push back right now is tough, it would be nothing like push back for reducing dependency on insurance. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies love the insurance model, and they wouldn't give it up without a battle.
Even if somehow insurance dependency could be reduced, quality isn't guaranteed to stay the same. It also might not be a good idea for people to base their health care on the price of care.
There really is no point in arguing for a model in which insurance plays a smaller role. Most people would not be comfortable with that idea, and it would be political suicide for any politician supporting such an idea because it would take many years before prices would come down to be affordable for those without insurance, long after those politicians elections.
But one more thing, high prices alone is not what is wrong with health care, it is just one aspect of it. Many people, like myself, cannot get health care because I have a pre-existing condition. If you don't address the issues regarding dropped coverage due to pre-existing conditions then it doesn't matter what ideas you have to bring costs down, there will still be millions of people without access to health care.
I have been saying it is a major issue! a huge one when someone pays 250 for a pre-tax, employer subsidized (50%, so it is really 500), the consumer is numb to costs, and medical goods suppliers feel it!
Now, about your pre-existing conditions. I support expanding the 29 states' high risk pools to the other 21 states, but they are underfunded because of the third rails of medicare and medicaid!
Furthermore, by using a "US citizen with employee subsidized health care" as an example illustrates you are ignoring the primary problem with health care in the US, that is; the 47 millions who DON'T have insurance, and those who do have health insurance, but not through their job. These people are playing Russian roulette with their health, and the insurance companies are the ones pulling the trigger.
There can't be serious health care reform unless these issues are addressed.
You don't understand, if you can't produce a reason for why medical goods prices are so high, then you will make the situation worse for everyone. You keep on ignoring what I say! Yes, it is wrong that 47 million don't have insurance for different reasons (not only expense - but yes a large portion is for that reason) I am giving you insight as to WHY the costs are so high!!!
All you have been arguing this whole time is how right you are and how wrong I am, as opposed to what exactly you believe you are right about. I'm not going to sift through 200 youtube comments to read every single one of your previous posts. I'm not interested in engaging into an "I'm right, your wrong!" type of argument. If you have a point to make on health care, lets hear it.
Due to the inflated goods prices in the US due to employer/federal health insurance subsidies, a "public option" will become the majority and bring down quality for people like my father, and quality up for you, Yes, YOU ARE RIGHT. BUT, state mandates tend to under reimburse! and thus stifle medical innovation. I want a system where Both you and my father can buy less, and cheaper insurance, and have the government subsidize high risk!
I mean, no insurance vs some insurance is certainly an increase in effective health care quality! And also, you can file appeals if previous doctors can attest (in a letter, that you condition is either under control, or in remission) Also, you can bite the shitty bullet and accept the insurance with that exclusion...but the INFLATED goods prices come back to bite you!
And if my condition is not in remission, then what? What good would excluding my condition be when that is the reason I need health care? You don't get car insurance and get an exclusion saying everything except the car stereo is insured, so what is the purpose of doing that in health care?
Does insurance inflate prices? Of course, but there is no way of going backwards to a system with less dependence on insurance. It would take years before prices would drop to affordable.
Now as for the public option, your argument is quite flawed. On one hand you assume the quality will be bad, but in another you say it will become the majority. If the quality really is worse than insurance offered privately nobody will switch. Employers often get into major labor disputes over health care, so its ridiculous to assume employers would drop the private insurance and force their employees to take the public option. Employees would not put up with that.
The problem is a matter of cost. I am not saying the quality will be "bad," in a majority state system, I don't know where you got that from. I am saying employers would go to a majority state system because the government can undercut costs (they do it with medicare and medicaid). But having a public option without addressing inflated goods prices is a problem. Meaning, stopping employer driven health insurance! If employers fight that, then they are simply keeping costs high.
Put it this way....If a bill went to the senate with actual reforms given by Mackey and Health economists, including reducing frivolous lawsuits and disconnecting health insurance from employment...then the argument for a "public option"becomes extremely weak!
Don't play the fervor card now! Obama is in power! You're supposed to do that when all you can do is piss and moan, like my party is doing! Anyway, I have been posting about the 29 states with high risk pools and the lack of adequate funding for them because of medicare and medicaid....educate yourself!
I hate to be an all knowing ass on health insurance (but I studied it), but I bet you have rarely heard of anything of what I talk about....until you look into and realize it is true!
This is why health insurance needs to go AWAY! It is to hard to gain profit in this business without denying coverage and eventually killing someone. Healthcare should be through the GOV where it would be paid for by all thru taxes because it would be used by all! Why allow insurance companies to play the GRIM REAPER! This is America! We can take a socialist program and rework it into an ORIGINALLY AMERICAN program. This country is built on taking something, stripping it , and making it better!
Yes, this is quite sad, actually extremely sad. But converting to socialistic healthcare will not solve all of our problems. No matter what man is deprived, therefore a utopia where everyone has to experience no suffering will and cannot exist in this world. What we should focus on is what would do the most good for the most amount of people, and that would be capitalism rather than socialism.
The Republican Party should be renamed the Wall Street Party. I feel that this party is literally NOT in politics to fight for their constituents, but to gain PROFIT. That is their baby-PROFIT!!!!! The truth about Healthcare Reform needs to be spread because the one thing that the Republican Party is OUTSTANDING at is scaring the LIVING S#!+ out of people. No one can beat a Republican when it comes to creating and spreading FEAR!!!!
Is the United States being $12 trillion dollars in debt, 270,000,000 more citizens (x10 times) than Canada and only 230,000 more doctors (x4 times) with the average operation wait time in Canada being 1.3 years for someone first priority (under 45 and lower than 28 BMI) and increase private insurance costs by 300% to help finance the socialized system a "scare tactic" or the horrifying reality Obama is proposing to us?
Please respond, and triple check those stats if you don't believe me.
If only it were that easy. As Americans we can be tourists but to live there it takes getting married or having your employer send you there. If it were as easy as just walking thru a door I would have during Bush.
Ahh.... to be able to live in a civil society. I'll keep dreaming and being a tourist.... no wait traveler.
America is not the greatest country but it is home. So I'll just keep trying to change it for the better, with or without your help.
If you're 36 then in 9 short years you'll be stamped "2nd priority" to make way for the constant flow of "youngest" so they only have to wait 1½ years instead of your 2½-3 because they're lives are more important than yours according to their system.
You are making more mistakes. The WHO is really describing health outcomes. Yes, the French state insurance system (with mostly private doctors) is able to provide care to everyone with 30% copays and control of supply, and deficits. But the medical innovation is not coming from there as much as here! also doctors complain too much about low reimbursement rates there.
My solution (that most health economists agree with) is combine high risk pools (that 29 states have) with medicare and medicaid. Use third way politics to contract private insurance (like today in CA) for the high risk pool with government subsidy. And finally, disconnect health insurance from employment to stop the disconnect that consumers with employee health insurance feel to bring down costs.
We can cover everyone without having the state go further into the insurance business and still protect our job producing health, biotech, and pharma, and medical supply sector! Think people!
Your last sentence is pure hyperbole. But I don't do that like you do. Yes, overall, when you measure health outcomes (where lifestyle is another variable) they have the best system in the world. But 1) They restrict medical goods supply and tend to under reimburse 2) They run deficits 3) Have copays anyway 4) and the small private insurance sector is there to help the wealthier people who want a US like system 5) we produce most of the medical innovation because we don't have state insurance.
Well, think of it from this stand point. Say you were an insurance provider and someone who has cancer came to you to ask for insurance. Would you then give them insurance? No, it is a risk and you would most likely loose money. Remember insurance companies are buisneses too and that is how they make their profits. Also, government regulations would restrict profit margins thus ultimately putting insurance companies out of business. So then you would have not health care to begin with.
"Remember insurance companies are buisneses too and that is how they make their profits. Also, government regulations would restrict profit margins thus ultimately putting insurance companies out of business."
This is why the public option is a good idea. So people arent' dying in order for insurance comapnies to make a profit. Single payer would be even better.
Why would the "public option" be a good idea when 29 states have high risk insurance pools that are underfunded? Granted, majority state insurance (Like France) will control costs and supply, while covering everyone, but at the terrible costs of our innovation since these state insurance systems tend to deflate prices too much. I have been repeating the problem of overinsurance and the following inflated medical good prices...that's your problem. We can copy France, or we can do it better!
These stories should convince us all that health care reform is on top of the agenda. We need to get this done now. I can't take to see more patients die, not because all means were tried to prevent it, but because insurance companies drop coverage for pre-existing conditions.
involved einstein. Healthcare is not a right it cost money, many people can afford insurance they would rather spend their money on cars, drugs or things that they do not need.Grade school teaches people the difference between a necessity and luxury but people today want everything, life is not equal or fair. Giving a man a fish feeds him for a day, teaching that man to fish feeds him for life...this will ruin the US and it is alot more than money, you do not have the brain to understand this.
You sound so stupid. Life is not fair because people make it unfair. I would never sit and watch someone die because they did not make money in a certain price bracket. This shows how you lack compassion for people, prejudice against class. Capitalism is a system that creates inequality and if your were smart you would know that there are millions out of work as we speak , what happens to people when they suffer for a Leaders ( GEORGE W. BUSH) mistakes?
I am stupid? typical liberal response. Life is not fair because it has never been fair since day one. There has always been people with more than others and always will be. The problem is the US can not afford to do this,it will end up destroying the US and nobody will have insurance. People all over the world would love to have what many Americans have and people like you just expect more for giving nothing in return..blame bush all you want but Obama has spent 3 times what he did in 1 month
No I called you stupid because that was the only word that came to mind that had no profanity. Life has not been fair from day one because there has always been a proletariat and a bourgeoisie. Marx explained it best that the proletariat will understand the false consciences the bourgeoisies imposes and will on day over come the obstacles of the ruling class. That day has arrived in American society. America can afford to do this which shows you did not pay attention to Obama again.
You need to look at your pay stub and see how much is actually taken out for Health care, maybe then you would not sound so stupid. Obama has already spoke about trimming cost that are superfluous from the BUSH era, and you already are seeing signs of recovery in the market. What happens to all of the wasteful spending Washington did before Obama got there? It will be put to better use. The Republicans have really shown there asses and, before Im 40 this party will be dead.
Man your fuckin stupid. Obama is a puppet for the bilderburg group, a group that holds illegal meetings to discuss federal policies. You actually think Obama is going to be this great savior to our nation? You're a fool. You're entirely brainwashed in the Obama deception. Ask yourself this- when was the last time a politician ever kept his promises? When was the last time you said to yourself, oh I'm really happy with all these new taxes that I have to pay? HAVE FUN BEING BRAINWASHED!!!
You are too stupid please provide proof for all of these allegations you have posed about Obama? It is foolish to come up with lies and I guess that makes you the fool.
And don't ever tell me to get out of this country. You can go back to Africa and join the Kenyan rebels and burn down villages just like your little hero obama's family. You fuckin loser. You must feel so cool defending this idiot. I hope you enjoy your higher interst rates and I can't wait to here from you on here when your home gets forclosed and all your food stamps run out. Stop defending the government that doesnt give a flying fuck about you or your lame ass cause and arguments! Fool!
So funny Dumb ass I am more AMERICAN THEN YOU. My ancestry consists of Cherokee and Angolan African blood ( I do not count the whites that raped my ancestors). I would tell you to go back to Europe but you were thrown out and you are simple white trash. You are not American, you are just a citizen, I have the blood to prove it. You must feel really stupid to not understand Obama, obviously the government cares because they are trying to help everyone. Get you facts together trash.
This is why health savings accounts are superior to insurance. The money you pay into it stays under your control. You can choose whether to spend the money or not and you can never be canceled! Imagine if all the premiums went to an interest bearing account instead of salaries for nurses that try to find out how to cancel people that are costing too much. Remember how Obama said that we spend too much? How will her case be handled? Take a blue pill?

Obama you suck!! Stop wasting our tax dollars!! You're ruining our country! You will never be my president! You and your government's lies to the people of our country! YOU ARE SCUM
You are trash!! President Obama will win and he is making dumb asses like you look foolish across the Globe. If you don't like the NEW AMERICA get the hell out.
when looking at America the Rich are not in the Majority and the last time I checked America was making a recovery from the foolishness an out of touch conservative put America through. So I guess that makes you the idiot. Secondly how has PRESIDENT Obama lied? He has not finished his first year in Office and thus far doing a GREAT JOB. So like I said if you don't like America then leave, then again what you people call socalism is happening across the globe. You are the minority.
America is one the the riches nations of the earth and you telling me that the U.S. doesnt have a universal health care yet, now thats the real sin and shame
America is still one of the riches places on earth just because there is a reccesion just means alot of rich people are not spending as much,Americans were spurgin and some living beyond their means before all this financial mess. If you work and the working poor to have a right to good health care insurance,American does have poor but there are alot of wealthy americans
This is why we can't give up on the public option. Mr. President, you cannot compromise on the public option. If it is not there, we have just another insurance control health plan. Stick to your guns.
Obama already has shown public opnion means nothing,Americans have no rights while people not born here have our rights. We can not speek freely, our guns will be taken next and the liberals have no idea this government is fucking everyone not just the rich,we will all be homeless all to please the minorities....good work America
You make no sense and you sound like bitter white person. If you can listen to this and have no remorse you are the NIGGER. Money should not determine if people are treated with humanity, and if you believe in God then you should believe that every one should be treated fairly. You obviously did not listen to President Obama because people who have there own insurance can keep it; he is making it equitable for everyone because of the gap in socioeconomic status imposed by the ruling class.
I make no sense? common sense tells anyone with an iq of 6 that people will abuse the system, people will die waiting for treatment while some illegal takes her kid in for a common cold or std, rich europeans come to America when they are sick and they pay cash instead of waiting until they die in europe...its fact not opnion, your president lies and has no consideration for truth, just his agenda...a president who gets elected with financial promises does nothing but bankrupt a country to win votes
Obama has already addressed the potential problems and has discussed ways of improving on the system we already have in place. President Obama is not trying to mimic other systems but create a uniquely American plan. If you did use common sense you would know that everything has already been outlined and this could be the very system that will make American citizens HEALTHIER. Check the stats America if far behind other industrialized nations. You don't have the brains to understand that fact.
This is on the president's channel, did he listen to it? Why is he wavering on the so-called public option? DON'T SELL US OUT BARACK OBAMA, YOU NEED TO START FIGHTING FOR MEDICARE FOR ALL OF US.
I wonder how many employees Blue Cross and Blue Shield had working full time on her case in those days following pre-certification to find a reason to cancel her coverage in time to avoid having to pay for anything.
The HMOs need to be legislated out of existence, just as they were legislated into existence with the HMO Act of 1973.
America needs a single-payer system, like the rest of the Western world. It's a shame its citizens are informed by special interests through their TV mouthpieces.
We don't need a single payer system. We need reform of the HMO Act of 1973 and to reduce state mandates. You identified what caused the problem with American medicine, but then propose a system completely based on those flaws.
Have you read the bills? You do know that Bluecroos/Blueshield will be one of the insurance companies that benefits greatly from this legislation, right? Or have you read the legislation?
Blue Cross/Blue Shield used to be a not-for-profit. They paid out some money and became profit-making enterprises, much like many of the HMOs. Their motives are profit, not to keep you healthy. They have thousands of people pouring over your claims to see how much care they can deny.
My brother worked for them as a claims specialist. His orders from corporate were to deny any (that's right, "any") claim at least 3 times. If people continued to pursue the claim past that they would actually take a look at it and see how else they could deny it. If that was not possible the claim would be paid. My brother quit after 2 years because he couldn't take it any more.
Nick, and under this bill Bluecross / Blueshield will benefit and be one of the companies that will again become "not for profit" and handle claims through the exchange. Bluecross/Blueshield supports this bill, because they benefit.
if you think an administration that has paid off their buddies (Goldman-Sachs for example) directly from government coffers are in this to benefit the people you have some serious soul searching to do.
Gosh, this is horrible. I can't believe people would be against reforming the health care that obviously needs reformed. How can people hear these stories and still say that we cannot use it or cannot need it. It boggles my mind and all I can do is shake my head. I'm sure when those people who are against it have to deal with these problem sin the future they will be so thankful that they have the proper care they need.
It just makes my head spin that the party that I used to be a part of (the Republicans), who claim that life is sacred, do not want people to get treatments for health conditions. Health insurance is not something I consider a frivolous expenditure, but necessary. I wish they would actually start listening to the majority of Americans who say we need reform now.
To know that there are people in this world who would charge thousands of people expensive insurance premiums and then deprive them of coverage for the health care they need, or hand them a couple hundred dollars and stick them with the other ten thousand, all for the sake of making money ... absolutely SICKENS me. An unrestricted free-market health care system is highly ineffective, and in cases like this, morally wrong.
I am not surprised why the Americans are so against UK's NHS or France health system...
because I know for a fact that the Americans are proving themselves each day that they are the most retarded nation on earth. they are against some thing that have no idea how that thing works. again, YOU Americans are so stupid that no body can help you to have brain transplants.
Americans won't ever have universal healthcare until they stop thinking only of themselves. And to all the jackasses below bitching about the few? 1 in 5 americans dont have insurance how in gods name is that a few?
For a few? Well if you consider say 50 to 60 MILLION people in the USA without the Health Insurance they both need and deserve than yeah that's just a few. So why not let them suffer. Personally one person going without the health care they need in my country is one too many.
But hey if you can deny this woman health care what can I say you are a better man than me.
This lady and her Representatives need to ATTACK the Insurance company NOT NOT NOT The American people and Constitution with a health care bill!!!!!!!!!!
You should be thankful. I find it astounding that my country the USA is the ONLY non third world country without a comprehensive universal health care system. In fact we have probably the WORST health care system in the entire world and that is just beyond my understanding.
Well sir I believe if she has breast cancer her hair is FALLING OUT. May haps not in a uniform fashion. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYONE WITH CANCER IN PERSON? I HAVE MY FATHER AND MY SISTER IN LAW!!! I also watched them die from it in person.
What worries me is why 1100 plus pages that the ones selling it did not read. When a congressman admits he did not read it or if he did could not understand it! I smell a skunk in the wood pile. Why would anyone trust a politician anyway? They're inept and disgraceful.
Indeed if our President can cut through all the bullshit we will have that option here in the USA. So please keep hope alive for us Americans we sure could use it.
When too many people want something that is free-it will cheapen the value of it. Isn't there something like 310 million people in America? One out of four are morbidly obese. 30% of children are morbidly obese. KFC and McCruelty lifestyles-a million dollars per person at least. How much is one million times 310 million? 310 billion, so you need at LEAST a TRILLION dollars to start it with (due to chronic diseases, cancer, AIDS, etc).
Health care is not something that people would love to use if they are not sick. There should be a certain amount of payment depending on use to promote healthy living but that should be like a few hundred dollars and not tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars with the alternative being death or remaining sick. Money isn't the issue when looking at it nationwide. More health care services result in more jobs in health care and a larger economy and more tax revenue. Basically paying for itself.

American government is not capable of managing a small convenient store much less a nation. It was due to BILL CLINTON who deregulated banks we are in a the biggest deficit ever in history, making legal pyramid schemes. Even I knew the real estate schemes would not last long, and I even emailed the white house a few times thinking the market would crash because you can't get something out of nothing (loans making money off of other loans)-that's Peter robbing Paul. Nobody listened-here we are.

Well, years later-deep in debt. Though we need health care reform, we can't afford it. If you tell private insurance companies to DROP pre-existing conditions-it will force insurance companies to raise premiums SO HIGH only the rich can afford it. Pre-existing condition screening is there for a reason: Keeping costs down. We live in a nation that prides itself in eating crap: KFC fried crap, McCruelty, and Heart Attack Grill. WHY should I have to pay for other people abusing their bodies for.
You really have no idea what health care reform is do you? The plan is to get more people insured, so the money the insurance companies lose is made up by new customers. Stop watching Glen Beck.
If our president has made a deal with the companies...he's a one-term president. He campaigned on reform and a public option and was elected on his promises... I hope for his sake and ours he was not lying.
This will wake up a lot of Obama supporters.. This is not the first promise he broke. Just the first one you noticed. He has literally gone against everything he promised in his campaign. Now you all can understand where the rest of us are coming fro
Sounds like a crime at the insurance company, just need enforcement of current laws!

This means that taxpayers will be responsible for costly premiums of high-risk individuals...this includes smokers, drug abusers, obese couch potatoes, etc...

FatbackMcGee 2 years ago
Yes, she was (dropped) from her insurance. . . but you would have to actually watch the video to know that, and you would have to have human morals to care, but that is of course to much to ask of people these days. She probably got assistance from pleading her case, but to think that people in America don't die from simply not being able to afford insurance is ignorant.
ForgetGod666 2 years ago
Blue cross, one of the largest health care providers in the U.S., announced some time ago that it would in fact drop patients who had pre-existing conditions if they...wait for it...did not disclose the condition to the provider. Yes, if you LIE on the application, you are subject to being dropped because of a pre-existing condition...
Obama and company tend to omit the fine details as they spew their rhetoric, stop being so gullable
FatbackMcGee 2 years ago
What if you did not know about a condition? You appear to be doing what U accuse Obama and company of.Why didn't blue cross check for any conditions prior to extending coverage?I will tell you, they want to collect premiums and then deny you.

How ignorant can you be? Doctors aren't there only for your health, they are there to make a living... The same counts for health insurance companies. It doesn't matter if you nationalize the whole health care system, as state is also there just to make a living... with even less responsibility and accountability...

repubtodem 2 years ago
Why do not you talk about the greed regarding pharmaceuticals and corporations you fuckwit!
padude64 2 years ago
That would create pockets around the country where quality is low based on how wealthy the area is, so even those who can afford better care in some areas wouldn't have access to it, or at the very least would have to drive long distances to obtain it. So even though insurance might inflate prices higher than they should be, it isn't going away.
videogeek27 2 years ago
And if you think the push back right now is tough, it would be nothing like push back for reducing dependency on insurance. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies love the insurance model, and they wouldn't give it up without a battle.
Even if somehow insurance dependency could be reduced, quality isn't guaranteed to stay the same. It also might not be a good idea for people to base their health care on the price of care.
videogeek27 2 years ago
There really is no point in arguing for a model in which insurance plays a smaller role. Most people would not be comfortable with that idea, and it would be political suicide for any politician supporting such an idea because it would take many years before prices would come down to be affordable for those without insurance, long after those politicians elections.
videogeek27 2 years ago
this has nothing to do with obama
milkmn00 2 years ago
But one more thing, high prices alone is not what is wrong with health care, it is just one aspect of it. Many people, like myself, cannot get health care because I have a pre-existing condition. If you don't address the issues regarding dropped coverage due to pre-existing conditions then it doesn't matter what ideas you have to bring costs down, there will still be millions of people without access to health care.
videogeek27 2 years ago
I have been saying it is a major issue! a huge one when someone pays 250 for a pre-tax, employer subsidized (50%, so it is really 500), the consumer is numb to costs, and medical goods suppliers feel it!
Now, about your pre-existing conditions. I support expanding the 29 states' high risk pools to the other 21 states, but they are underfunded because of the third rails of medicare and medicaid!
Gyrode 2 years ago
I mean, medical goods suppliers take advantage of it.
Gyrode 2 years ago
If you want get healed, research and heal yourself. Don't ask profit seekers to do it.
Profits will always trump health in the medical/pharmaceutical business.
lughcious 2 years ago
Furthermore, by using a "US citizen with employee subsidized health care" as an example illustrates you are ignoring the primary problem with health care in the US, that is; the 47 millions who DON'T have insurance, and those who do have health insurance, but not through their job. These people are playing Russian roulette with their health, and the insurance companies are the ones pulling the trigger.
There can't be serious health care reform unless these issues are addressed.
videogeek27 2 years ago
You don't understand, if you can't produce a reason for why medical goods prices are so high, then you will make the situation worse for everyone. You keep on ignoring what I say! Yes, it is wrong that 47 million don't have insurance for different reasons (not only expense - but yes a large portion is for that reason) I am giving you insight as to WHY the costs are so high!!!
Gyrode 2 years ago
All you have been arguing this whole time is how right you are and how wrong I am, as opposed to what exactly you believe you are right about. I'm not going to sift through 200 youtube comments to read every single one of your previous posts. I'm not interested in engaging into an "I'm right, your wrong!" type of argument. If you have a point to make on health care, lets hear it.
videogeek27 2 years ago
Due to the inflated goods prices in the US due to employer/federal health insurance subsidies, a "public option" will become the majority and bring down quality for people like my father, and quality up for you, Yes, YOU ARE RIGHT. BUT, state mandates tend to under reimburse! and thus stifle medical innovation. I want a system where Both you and my father can buy less, and cheaper insurance, and have the government subsidize high risk!
Gyrode 2 years ago
I mean, no insurance vs some insurance is certainly an increase in effective health care quality! And also, you can file appeals if previous doctors can attest (in a letter, that you condition is either under control, or in remission) Also, you can bite the shitty bullet and accept the insurance with that exclusion...but the INFLATED goods prices come back to bite you!
Gyrode 2 years ago
And if my condition is not in remission, then what? What good would excluding my condition be when that is the reason I need health care? You don't get car insurance and get an exclusion saying everything except the car stereo is insured, so what is the purpose of doing that in health care?
Does insurance inflate prices? Of course, but there is no way of going backwards to a system with less dependence on insurance. It would take years before prices would drop to affordable.
videogeek27 2 years ago
Now as for the public option, your argument is quite flawed. On one hand you assume the quality will be bad, but in another you say it will become the majority. If the quality really is worse than insurance offered privately nobody will switch. Employers often get into major labor disputes over health care, so its ridiculous to assume employers would drop the private insurance and force their employees to take the public option. Employees would not put up with that.
videogeek27 2 years ago
The problem is a matter of cost. I am not saying the quality will be "bad," in a majority state system, I don't know where you got that from. I am saying employers would go to a majority state system because the government can undercut costs (they do it with medicare and medicaid). But having a public option without addressing inflated goods prices is a problem. Meaning, stopping employer driven health insurance! If employers fight that, then they are simply keeping costs high.
Gyrode 2 years ago
Put it this way....If a bill went to the senate with actual reforms given by Mackey and Health economists, including reducing frivolous lawsuits and disconnecting health insurance from employment...then the argument for a "public option"becomes extremely weak!
Gyrode 2 years ago

This is why health insurance needs to go AWAY! It is to hard to gain profit in this business without denying coverage and eventually killing someone. Healthcare should be through the GOV where it would be paid for by all thru taxes because it would be used by all! Why allow insurance companies to play the GRIM REAPER! This is America! We can take a socialist program and rework it into an ORIGINALLY AMERICAN program. This country is built on taking something, stripping it , and making it better!
lew708 2 years ago
Yes, this is quite sad, actually extremely sad. But converting to socialistic healthcare will not solve all of our problems. No matter what man is deprived, therefore a utopia where everyone has to experience no suffering will and cannot exist in this world. What we should focus on is what would do the most good for the most amount of people, and that would be capitalism rather than socialism.

Gyrode 2 years ago
My solution (that most health economists agree with) is combine high risk pools (that 29 states have) with medicare and medicaid. Use third way politics to contract private insurance (like today in CA) for the high risk pool with government subsidy. And finally, disconnect health insurance from employment to stop the disconnect that consumers with employee health insurance feel to bring down costs.
Gyrode 2 years ago
We can cover everyone without having the state go further into the insurance business and still protect our job producing health, biotech, and pharma, and medical supply sector! Think people!
Gyrode 2 years ago
The French still have a better system.
It still has its problems but its better then death which is what we get. The French system saves babies and old as well.
Election2Day08 2 years ago
Your last sentence is pure hyperbole. But I don't do that like you do. Yes, overall, when you measure health outcomes (where lifestyle is another variable) they have the best system in the world. But 1) They restrict medical goods supply and tend to under reimburse 2) They run deficits 3) Have copays anyway 4) and the small private insurance sector is there to help the wealthier people who want a US like system 5) we produce most of the medical innovation because we don't have state insurance.
Gyrode 2 years ago
This makes me so angry. We need government regulations on these insurance companies to keep them from denying people life saving treatments.
voyzovrezon 2 years ago
Well, think of it from this stand point. Say you were an insurance provider and someone who has cancer came to you to ask for insurance. Would you then give them insurance? No, it is a risk and you would most likely loose money. Remember insurance companies are buisneses too and that is how they make their profits. Also, government regulations would restrict profit margins thus ultimately putting insurance companies out of business. So then you would have not health care to begin with.
Demonhunter8908 2 years ago
Did you even know that states have high risk insurance pools? WHY the hell Obama doesn't talk about this!
Gyrode 2 years ago
My estimation is because Medicare and Medicaid are third rails, just like Social Security was for Bush.
Gyrode 2 years ago
"Remember insurance companies are buisneses too and that is how they make their profits. Also, government regulations would restrict profit margins thus ultimately putting insurance companies out of business."
This is why the public option is a good idea. So people arent' dying in order for insurance comapnies to make a profit. Single payer would be even better.
voyzovrezon 2 years ago
Why would the "public option" be a good idea when 29 states have high risk insurance pools that are underfunded? Granted, majority state insurance (Like France) will control costs and supply, while covering everyone, but at the terrible costs of our innovation since these state insurance systems tend to deflate prices too much. I have been repeating the problem of overinsurance and the following inflated medical good prices...that's your problem. We can copy France, or we can do it better!

You sound so stupid. Life is not fair because people make it unfair. I would never sit and watch someone die because they did not make money in a certain price bracket. This shows how you lack compassion for people, prejudice against class. BUSH) mistakes?
TexadaArmsted 2 years ago
I am stupid? typical liberal response. Life is not fair because it has never been fair since day one. There has always been people with more than others and always will be. The problem is the US can not afford to do this,it will end up destroying the US and nobody will have insurance. People all over the world would love to have what many Americans have and people like you just expect more for giving nothing in return..blame bush all you want but Obama has spent 3 times what he did in 1 month
js1112111 2 years ago
No I called you stupid because that was the only word that came to mind that had no profanity. Life has not been fair from day one because there has always been a proletariat and a bourgeoisie. Marx explained it best that the proletariat will understand the false consciences the bourgeoisies imposes and will on day over come the obstacles of the ruling class. That day has arrived in American society. America can afford to do this which shows you did not pay attention to Obama again.
TexadaArmsted 2 years ago
You need to look at your pay stub and see how much is actually taken out for Health care, maybe then you would not sound so stupid. TexadaArmsted 2 years ago

OhThatAlan 2 years ago 4
We don't need a single payer system. We need reform of the HMO Act of 1973 and to reduce state mandates. You identified what caused the problem with American medicine, but then propose a system completely based on those flaws.
Have you read the bills? You do know that Bluecroos/Blueshield will be one of the insurance companies that benefits greatly from this legislation, right? Or have you read the legislation?
purechaos2000 2 years ago
Blue Cross/Blue Shield used to be a not-for-profit. They paid out some money and became profit-making enterprises, much like many of the HMOs. Their motives are profit, not to keep you healthy. They have thousands of people pouring over your claims to see how much care they can deny.
1Natick1 2 years ago
My brother worked for them as a claims specialist. His orders from corporate were to deny any (that's right, "any") claim at least 3 times. If people continued to pursue the claim past that they would actually take a look at it and see how else they could deny it. If that was not possible the claim would be paid. My brother quit after 2 years because he couldn't take it any more.
quinntessa2005 2 years ago 3
Nick, and under this bill Bluecross / Blueshield will benefit and be one of the companies that will again become "not for profit" and handle claims through the exchange. Bluecross/Blueshield supports this bill, because they benefit.
if you think an administration that has paid off their buddies (Goldman-Sachs for example) directly from government coffers are in this to benefit the people you have some serious soul searching to do.
We are being robbed blind by men in suits.

CB563 2 years ago 5
To know that there are people in this world who would charge thousands of people expensive insurance premiums and then deprive them of coverage for the health care they need, or hand them a couple hundred dollars and stick them with the other ten thousand, all for the sake of making money ... absolutely SICKENS me. An unrestricted free-market health care system is highly ineffective, and in cases like this, morally wrong.
Health care reform, NOW.

I'm in awe at how many people whine or joke or insult people when posting comments.
It's no wonder the fed railroaded the stimulous package through without it being read.
Fortunately enough people saw the flaws in 3200 to put the brakes on.
Tremmmmble, I have seen cancer and currently a dear friend is battling it.
3200 is not reform, it is a takeover by a government who can't properly run the institutions and responsibilities it has now.

Americans won't ever have universal healthcare until they stop thinking only of themselves. And to all the jackasses below bitching about the few? 1 in 5 americans dont have insurance how in gods name is that a few?
graylittle00 2 years ago 2
So we need to revamp a whole system for the few.
Look at it this way. Say GM has one model that's giving them quality issues. Do they change their whole lineup or do they work on the one model?
People are asking why not concentrate on dealing with Medicare and Medicade and they won't answer. Why, it's all about total Goverment control.

Peace.

I bet a guy named Jesus Christ did exist and he definitely had some very good ideas. It's just everyone overhyped them and the bullshit came in.

You should be thankful. I find it astounding that my country the USA is the ONLY non third world country without a comprehensive universal health care system. In fact we have probably the WORST health care system in the entire world and that is just beyond my understanding.
Tremmmble 2 years ago
We in fact have the best and most envied health care system in the world. We have an insurance crisis. NOT a health care crisis.
If any of you would bothr to read HC 3200 before you spout off there could be intelligent discussion.

Think about what you post before you post it man.

What worries me is why 1100 plus pages that the ones selling it did not read. When a congressman admits he did not read it or if he did could not understand it! I smell a skunk in the wood pile. Why would anyone trust a politician anyway? They're inept and disgraceful.

WinterHaven 2 years ago
You really have no idea what health care reform is do you? The plan is to get more people insured, so the money the insurance companies lose is made up by new customers. Stop watching Glen Beck.

If our president has made a deal with the companies...he's a one-term president. He campaigned on reform and a public option and was elected on his promises... I hope for his sake and ours he was not lying.
CaitFinnegan 2 years ago
This will wake up a lot of Obama supporters.. This is not the first promise he broke. Just the first one you noticed. He has literally gone against everything he promised in his campaign. Now you all can understand where the rest of us are coming fro
