  • Very good race. Crx pulls hard on top ends.

  • you are the better driver

  • Nice driving.....!~

  • you should have kept it,90s mazda's are the best

  • Is it just me or did you rub him a couple times? Good run was great to watch that little battle! I have a 92 Protege myself now just bought it.

  • love the video of the pro. it's still out there running daytona and sebring but will be up for sale soon. you built a great car scott!

  • did you work on the maxda from stock up to rac car? if you did. can you tell me the stock hp on the mazda? im thinking of getting one my self.

  • I don't own the car anymore....But, I bought it new in 1992, then made it a racecar in 1998. 140hp stock...probably around 160hp in this video. No engine work, just intake, exhaust, air/fuel mixture adjustments. (header too). Great little car for racing, except limited performance stuff. I had to have a lot of "one-off" items made for the suspension.

  • great... i only had eibachs on my ride back then... yah performance parts for that car was scarce..

  • nice vid.. used to have the very same car back in the day.. what suspension set-up wer u runnin at the time?

  • No one really had anything for that car back then, so pretty much everything was custom. Ground Control made a set of custom shocks and struts to match the coil-over spring rate, I had a set of custom adjustable camber plates made for all four corners and then a Tokico rear sway bar. Car handled awesome and with a little longer wheel base, it was not twitchy under braking, like the Honda CRX.

  • muahahahaha

    honda power^^

  • vollgas83, aparently you dont understand power vs weight ratio unless you was joking around. the 92 Protege stock had a 2400 lbs curb weight vs the CRX's 1000 maybe 1700 tops.

so if honda was all that he would be leaving the Protege in the dust, but it wasnt. his mirrors was full of Protege.

you bet your butt that both cars had weight reductions as well. but the Protege still weighed about 2x more

Hondas are ok. but Mazdas is better by far

  • You would of passed him a few times if you did over rev in the redline coming out of the turns

  • I had my shift light set 500rpms before my fuel cut off. You could hear him bouncing off his limiter quite a few times...His car just had more pull in 3rd and 4th than mine did. I was just exiting a little better than he was, so it seemed like I had more power. His CRX was one of the fastest in Florida, at the time.

  • arent you the same one that put your pistons in backwards in 1998 or 99? Buddies with seck & Dunn ??

  • What did this car dyno at, and what motor was in the CRX if you dont mind me asking. Excellent video

  • The motor was a junk yeard motor with about 60k miles on it. All stock, except a header (4 into 1), intake and exhaust. I think that car came stock with 140hp and I put down 136 to wheels.....after the car was prepped for racing it weighed in at 2300lbs....Although light, it was not a straight line screamer.

  • mazda Justice?? far as I can tell the Rex is in front of it the whole way.

  • Yes, that's true....but it was the only one of at least 6 that finished ahead. Plus, my Protege had to weigh in at no less than 2500lbs, while the crx was around 2000lbs....It's all good, the CRX really was a more dominant car in that class compared to mine..........I did have him beat in braking and handling though

  • Im loveing the mazda justice

  • I knew it went for "nothing". About cried when I saw the final price. I haven't seen it in the SE - but never leave Rd. Atl anymore. Definitely a nice ride.

  • Is this the pro that sold on ebay for ~$4k?

  • Well, actually, I think I let it go for just under $3k a bout four years ago. I heard it's still out there running, I just haven't seen it.

  • wow the Pro seems to hold its own against a way lighter car it seems like you could have passed him in the corners. i own a 92 Pro DX even tho it has a B8 in it they are real fun to drive and handle well

  • awesome car bro. love da sound of it i also have a 92 pro hookin it up for drag race. sweet car man GO BG'S

  • Gotcha. I ran the stock motor (1.8 DOHC 16V) with the Mercury Tracer's tube style exhaust manifold and a custom air cleaner on the stock MAF. All my racing buddies ran Hondas/Acuras and I figured their set up would also work on my car, but the head design for my car called for back pressure. Spent a year an a half figuring that out...This footage is with the car running it's best. I'll get some more uploaded, from this same race, in a couple of days.

    Thanks for the compliments.

  • 1st gen protege chassis. it shares with others. just said it instead of pro ;) what motor did u have in their @ the time? bp...?

  • great video. love seein the bg's get some good runs.

  • bg's?

  • Sweet Video! Love the sound.
