  • what size are the gauges?

  • @317stinky Speedo and Tach are 5". The rest are standard 2-1/16" gauges. The speedo and tach fit nicely in the Trans Am dash bezel after some clearancing.

  • @wholemilk2 thanks man looks and sounds awesome

  • where can i get those gauges?

  • @SOUTHCAUSEWAY Anywhere... they are autometer Phantom II gauges. Summit, JEGS, Autozone, egauges dot com... They are very readily available...

  • what websites did you go to get the info for the swap?

  • what i love about this video is it fits me well lmao! I had an 88 Trans am GTA white, wanted to do an ls1 swap but had to sell it :( But I also have a jeep that looks exactly the same as the one in this video too haha! 93 cherokee sport 2 DR 5 speed. :D awesome video, exactly how I would want it haha!

  • It's a beautiful sound... isn't it?

  • did you have the digital dash before these gauges? and if so, how do you swap it?

  • i want my gauges like this

  • Hell ya my kind of video. I got an 88 T/A with the L98 in it lil modded. and I got a jeep exactly like the one in this video. Two door sport, high output. i got a 2 inch lift on it with 32" TSL supers, wanna rasie it up bit more. Nice vid.

  • i like the cherokee

  • i would love to do an ls swap in my 79 firebird it came a 301 new and now has a pontiac 400 but i would like to do an ls swap bad maybe a lq9 i think that would do great in my car by the way your car sounds bad ass

  • what all did u have to do to get those gauges in, wanting to put some in my 92 Ta.

  • Don't over complicate things. buy, cut, mount, wire. tada. don't be scared to mess up. every part has a part number.

  • sounds great man!! i kicked the sound back a little bit so it didnt blast me out haha... nice looking jeep sitting there too....

  • i have an 86 trans am nd planing on doin da ls1 swap... was da swap hard??

  • For me...it wasnt. My first swap took a little while. My second swap only took a few weeks since I already had the wiring figured out. If you are handy, are good with wiring, can fab parts, have the tools...its not difficult at all. Do lots of research beforehand. All the info you need is on a couple websites. Piece of cake.

  • @wholemilk2 is it easy to put the t56 in with the ls1? i wanna get a 3rd gen camaro and do this.

  • awesome! what is all done to the engine?

  • Lots. Heads, cam, intake, fuel upgrades, long tubes, forged bottom end with all the goodies etc etc. Hopefully....Ill be getting new heads and something on top that makes a loud whining noise. That'll be fun.

  • Nice ride. I like it when older models are converted with newer model's vehicle technology. Good job. That's a sleeper!

    Props to you.

  • noooooo no supercharger

    turbo turbo turbo...

or itb intake and 650all motor hp

  • Damn! Awesome sound man. I wish mine sounded like that.

  • hey bro im loving ur gauges, mind tellin me where u got them and how much.. i got a 85 ws6 trans am lookin to put in an ls2.. thnx bro ;p

  • I got all my gauges from autozone. I was working there at the time, and was able to order everything I wanted. Most people dont realize that autozone can get soooo much stuff. All you need is the part numbers from autometer. The cheapest places to get them though are summit/jegs and egauges website. If you are ordering all at once, go with the website, because shipping will be free. You'll save money.

  • sweet thanx bro

  • Nice vid... Im getting ready to do an LT1 swap into my T/A. How did you manage to get those guages to fit under your dash using the stock holes?

  • There are tons of aftermarket panels to fit those cars. You can put any gauges you want in there.

  • The autometer 5" in dash gauges are very close to the size of the TA gauge bezel openings. You just need to make the holes a little bigger. For the smaller gauges, I just cut out the separation between the right two holes and made a plexi panel to mount behind it. Piece of cake.

  • Thanks much, cant wait to try that!

  • what kind of steering wheel is that ?

  • I'm wondering the same thing.

  • Its a frankenstein wheel. haha. The basic wheel is a cheapie from Autozone. Pretty sure the brand was Pilot. The horn button is from a firebird horn button from the early 80's... I think like 82-84. Definatly thirdgen. I took it apart, and fit the emblem into that wheel. The button would fit in any Pilot/Grant probably others.

  • Thanks. I've been wanting a new steering wheel, but didn't want to lose my bird in the horn cap lol.

  • perfect sound great

  • Man, I bet it feels good with that Ls1 in ur firebird.. How much did it cost to convert??

  • No clue. Not sure I want to know. hahha. To convert isnt that expensive. Once you track down the motor and trans, the rest is relatively cheap. Basically, the motor/trans dictates how expensive the swap is. Its well worth it either way!

  • what kind of gauges are those

  • Autometer Phantom I series. 5" 160mph Elec programable speedo, 5" 10k rpm Tach, Full sweep programmable fuel gauge, basic volt, oil pressure, and temp gauges. All the small gauges are 2-1/16". Also running a pillar pod with full sweep fuel pressure and vac. gauge. Waiting for the wideband O2 gauge for the top spot.

  • sweet trans am

  • Damn, got to give it to the third gens they sound way better than 4th gens.

  • you dumbass, that's a 4th gen motor lmao

  • that sucka sounds strong!!! nice job.

  • uhhhh.............dan u my speakers almost blew i had my volume at max.....but 1 question...how do u know ware the redline is on your RPM meter

  • Haha...sorry about the speakers. My camera distorts pretty easily. I just know the motor. I hardly look at the tach. I have a shift light set 200 RPM below my rev limiter. If Im running it hard, I just shift just after the light hits. My tuning software dictates where the rev limiter or "redline" is. Its set at a safe 7100 right now :) The cam I have is still making power at 7000 so it pulls the entire time. But mostly I just drive by feel/sound.

  • i cant belive this this is the FIRST muscle car i like. im not a muscle car fan but......DAMN. meh i have a evo 9 MR its doesnt make that noise but is really fast.i just got it this week with 1 mile on it lol

  • haha..nice man. I like older cars. Never had a new car, probably never will. I do like the EVO's though. A buddy of mine had one awhile back. Forget what size turbo he was running, but it was pretty quick. We used to race every so often. He got rid of it for a vette. The EVO was cool though.

  • yea im not really likein the new cars eather thats y i got a 06 model. and on your other vid i c u live in PA cool so do i

  • i loveee the ending

  • Was the LS1 swap in this year 'bird hard, or did it go smooth without too many problems?

  • In my opinion, it was cake. I had a whole parts car at my disposal (99 z28) which helped. I also did quite a bit of custom fabrication that wasnt really needed. Ide say the two hardest things to do are the wiring, and the exhaust. Wiring is ok as long as you have all of it, and can read schematics. The exhaust is hard because there isnt a GOOD aftermarket solution. I ended up building my own y-pipe from scratch. Other than that...easy as pie.

  • sport comp is the shit

  • Where did u get those gauges???? I need some

  • Autometer Phantoms...thats what all my gauges are.

  • very mean soundin, i wouldnt pull up to you in my turbo civic :O

  • NOICE!!! 3rd Gens FTW!!! Sounds mean!!

  • hey bro, what type of tachos are they. they look great.

  • Do you mean my gauges? They are Autometer Phantom series gauges. 5" Tach and Speedo, 2-1/16 auxillary gauges in the dash and in the pillar pod. I love those gauges...I have them in my Jeep as well.

  • how hard was it to modify your standard dash? I am wanting to do that as well in my 83..I would love to know more about how you did it..

  • what are headers

  • Hey bro, awesome car. I was wondering if it's true that not having any backpressure from not having the exhaust can slow you down. I've never run open headers before, and I figured it would be better to ask than to ruin my valves.

  • Well, I dont drive the car with open headers. Ive heard of people doing it without issue... I do however run with long tubes, off road y-pipe, and a cut out. You loose some low end grunt with the open exhaust but you pick up some power in the upper RPM range. Which is where I have my car set up to pull hardest anyway. You can mess your O2 sensors up though unless you have some pipe on the end of the headers. if you have O2s...

  • Yeah I was thinking about doing it just for fun on the weekends, but I'm wondering if an electric cutout isn't a better choice. Right now, it seems it would be.

  • I just finished building my custom y-pipe and I installed a cut out. Much better than the last set up. The entire thing is stainless. Headers all the way to the tail pipes. Everything stainless. Love the stuff. I picked up a new elec. cut out too. My old one was used and abused. Cant wait to try it out! Ill put a vid up when its done.

  • Yeah dude the knot in the throttle cable worked appreciate the help ill get the video up of it real soon, thanks again, peace

  • Hey, I just did a LS1 swap into my '86 Firebird, it came out of a '00 WS6, anyways im stuck on 2 things maybe you can help me... 1.) How did you modify your pedal for the throttle calbe? i removed mine and bent the acc. bar forward a tad, but barely isnt enough still....... 2.) did you have to rig up a fuel pump relay? or even need one for that matter?

    Thanks, Charlie

  • Charlie,

For the pedal, I just used the 3rd gen pedal originally in my car. I didnt bend it at all. I pulled the excess throttle cable back, and tied a knot in it. Then I used a zip tie behind the knot. So with my accel pedal all the way up, the stock 4th gen throttle cable has no play in it. If thats confusing, give me your email and Ill send you something.

  • As for the fuel pump relay, Im running all of the harness and fuse boxes from the 99 Camaro I used. Im also running the 4th gen plastic fuel tank. So it was all just plug and play. If I didnt use those fuse blocks, I would have used a bosch 30A and wired it in. Hope that helps!

  • put your angels in your ass
