I really don't see this as a question of Tyranny. While I see taxing air pollution as being sort of a gimmick, it is at least a solution to reduce it and regulate it. While the effects of global air pollution are debatable, it is certain that something like water pollution had to be regulated since so much damage was already done. How about we push for the liberty of future generations for living a good life and not having to clean up our mess.

Of which laws do you speak? I suspect that you mean terms of statehood (in Missouri and Kansas) that precluded slavery, and were interpreted as a harbinger of emancipation.
Of course those were apart of it but they were not the only laws being passed to keep the south from changing. Laws were passed to prevent new slaves from being shipped in which was voted for by the overwhelming majority of people from the north in congress. What this did was shut down tons of businesses across the south and the way people saw it the federal government was only meant for international sort of affairs. The best way to describe the views was "creatures or creators of the union".
Another law passed was a heavy taxation on imported goods. Not to stop slavery but to force the south to buy goods from the north that they were trading cotton for from England. Again voted for by the overwhelming majority of northern congressmen and house reps. The effect was catastrophic combined with the anti slavery because they were forced to trade with only the north but their means of producing for that trade were being infringed upon.
To go even further where were these taxes on imported goods going too? They were being redistributed to the northern industries. So slavery was simply the tip of the iceberg. Taxes and forced trade were 2 out of 3 of the main components. Then finally once the states left the union they even made serious attempts to prevent war by offering to pay their part of the national debt etc. It was Lincoln who raised the 75000 men as fast as he could and began screaming preserve the union.
And finally to show how the big government was out of control Lincoln suspended habius corpsus (sp?), jailed any opponent of his during that time who wanted to end the war and used the bombing of fort sumter where no union soldier was killed and was funded and built by South Carolina as means for war. Basically we lost all states rights during the Civil War. If the government passes an amendment tomorrow that says you have to have a tattooed number on your arm you have to do it.

Of course those were apart of it but they were not the only laws being passed to keep the south from changing. Laws were passed to prevent new slaves from being shipped in which was voted for by the overwhelming majority of people from the north in congress. What this did was shut down tons of businesses across the south and the way people saw it the federal government was only meant for international sort of affairs. The best way to describe the views was "creatures or creators of the union".

Another law passed was a heavy taxation on imported goods. Not to stop slavery but to force the south to buy goods from the north that they were trading cotton for from England. Again voted for by the overwhelming majority of northern congressmen and house reps. The effect was catastrophic combined with the anti slavery because they were forced to trade with only the north but their means of producing for that trade were being infringed upon.

To go even further where were these taxes on imported goods going too? They were being redistributed to the northern industries. So slavery was simply the tip of the iceberg. Taxes and forced trade were 2 out of 3 of the main components. Then finally once the states left the union they even made serious attempts to prevent war by offering to pay their part of the national debt etc. It was Lincoln who raised the 75000 men as fast as he could and began screaming preserve the union.

And finally to show how the big government was out of control Lincoln suspended habius corpsus (sp?), jailed any opponent of his during that time who wanted to end the war and used the bombing of fort sumter where no union soldier was killed and was funded and built by South Carolina as means for war. Basically we lost all states rights during the Civil War. If the government passes an amendment tomorrow that says you have to have a tattooed number on your arm you have to do it.

2. The US is a federation of sovereign States, not a unified centralized nation (like England and France).
3. Powers not delegated to the federal government in Article I, nor reserved to the people, are the exclusive domain of the States.
4. Federal government is to serve the States and their people, not the other way around.

These companies are simply going to pass the costs on to us, the consumers, or worse, send even more jobs overseas. WE ARE MODERN GERMANY. WE have death camps set up all around the states. We have a Gov't growing that has no reason to.We have BEEN robbed by both sidesof the isle &everyone is still bickering LEFT & RIGHT BS. Alond with the Race Issue. Obama IS HALF BLACK & HALF WHITE. Perhaps you should read Michelle Obama's Princeton college thesis... I'm quite certain that her and her husband have a shared ideology. Perhaps it is time to face reality; racism is driven by sterotypes, the worst aspects of every race or nationality. The consequence of everyone "Loving thy neighbor as thyself" would eliminate stereotypes. Reality says, that is vertually impossible. Another reality; the vast majority of the 'human race' ignores stereotypes and judge others on their good merits.

Earlier this year, Congress passed a Stimulus Bill. It was 973 pages long. This past Friday,June 27,2009 the House passed a Climate Change Bill. It was more than 1200 pages long. The US constitution?20 pages long including amendments and signatures.
Im still sifting through the 1200 page bill.Its a bureaucratic mess.
