  • Marvin Gaye: what musical creativity and energy. His music included style and wisdom. I miss him. Some of his songs are timeless and speak to the problems we have now. I would love to see what new music he would bring to us now, if he were still here to write more songs.

  • Marvin Gaye was straight but was a Cocaine Addict. His father used to wear women's clothes though he was a preacher, go figure.

  • @baparafien - you have your facts wrong. Marvin Gaye was, in fact, shot by his father because he was a Crack Addict. His sexuality had nothing at all to do with anything. Besides - as so many have already pointed out, Who Cares whether he was gay or straight. He is a musical legand & there will never be another artist who can touch him.

  • @olhuzzy - where does sexual preference come into play with anyone unless you're the person in the relationship... NO WHERE. I'm as straight as they come but NO ONE cares about that either so why bring it up... People should mind their business. Sexual preference is that of the individual and only up to God to judge and God created us all in his image. God is the only judge. (sorry to rant but that is my pet peeve)

  • @Thatzmysh1t - I did not bring up Mr. gaye's sexuality. I was replying to all the "his dad killed him because he was gay" comments. Please choose your battles more carefully. Thanks.

  • @olhuzzy - My apologies times 1,000. I totally mis-read your comment. I will be more careful not to have my foot for dinner while posting a comment here. Again. My apologies. I get so bent out of shape with the idea of someone being stupid about the facts but in this case it was me... I can't apologize enough.... Thanks for setting me straight...

I feel like an idiot on this one....

  • @Thatzmysh1t - No worries. I am very liberal & I think all the prior comments just worked my last nerve.

    You were just 'handy.' Peace!

  • @ MrSKINFLICK The most important factor about Marvin Gaye is his musicianship and his creative genius. He was one of a kind and there will never be another like him. Who he slept with and what he did in his personal life is none is our business.

  • i like the way that chick hits those drums ohhhh yaaaa baby

  • COWBELL!!!!

  • What a rhythm!

  • the announcer looks like hank azaria xD

  • This 1977(#1) song about a non-dancer who decides to really "get down" is

Marvin's best rendition of this song since the original at the London Palladium. Notice how every member of the band from percussionist Shelia Escovedo (Sheila E) to Smokey Robinson's sax player (David) gets emotionally involved in the song. For me personally it is favorite because this was the year that my daughter was born. Marvin had 44 top forty hits. This is one of those that made his music immortal.

  • Thank you so much!!!

  • what a rhythm

  • THIS WAS MY JAM BACK IN THE DAY!

  • "Marvin's my man."

  • this would even make the honkys dance!

  • 35 ppl thought the dislike button said "dis I like"

  • @TheEXpothead there is no "dislike" button, it's a thumbs down button.

  • @YoYoBlazeShow close enough XD

  • @TheEXpothead Now 39. They need to stop that silly stuff.

  • Drool.

  • More cowbell, Sexy Afro Lady, more cowbell!

  • @TheCarlScharnberg Uh hell yeah!!! Get it!!!

  • Oh my god, I love the afro lady on the drums!

  • real artist :)

  • I know you're gone but I STILL LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE YOU MARVIN!!!

  • @jojamful Gone?!?!?! Sorry to burst your bubble, but, Marvin is alive and well in Amsterdam. If you doubt me, then get a court order to exhume his coffin. You won't find anything in there, except the coffin itself. This is perhaps the biggest hoax ever pulled by a top entertainer like him. He was just sick and exhausted from the life style of fame. He did not have plastic surgery, hair coloring, eye contacts or any sort of physical or cosmetic make-up. Just looks older and tired.

  • @buffet62 I just checked wiki'd it and it said he got shot by his father...you sure hes still alive?..like do you have a site that proves he is?

  • I miss bands like this!!!!

  • this is why we all want a phukin time machine!!!!! now ghaddemit,

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY! & R.I.P.

  • Marvin Gaye, A Prophet of Music, Song And Life! Felt His End Was Comin, But Came By The Doings of His Own Dad On April 1, 1984, Not Even 24 hours of His Own Birthday of April 2nd. To This Day, Tears Still Fall. His Memorial Is Here Once Again, But Will This Time Be For Global Healing, Prayer And Salvation From Our Own Selves, A Global Mess?

  • Marvin Gaye !!!!!!! The background singers, band of this video are absolutely ELECTRIC. Wished I could've been there !!!! Thanks for this.

  • Went n labor doing the errol flynn.

  • Damn that bass line… intoxicating…

  • Wonder what the tossers who are in the charts at the moment think to a TRULY GREAT PERFORMER???????

  • Over a million hits!! That's awesome. As far as I'm concern there will never be another Marvin!!!! Classic.

  • Needs more cowbell.

  • Don't even think of getting up and heading to the dance floor when this song came on if you were not well rested before it came on. 9 minutes of aerobic work out baby.

  • @AirRayH Haha! I'm wondering how the singers were able to do all of that and not lose their breaths

  • i'm staggerd by this man he knew what was going on!!!!!

  • This is genius...

...but this was the man who before this gave us Inner City Blues and What's Going On.

I sort of hate this disco-minstrel party guy persona he adopted for the last few years of his life.

    Drugs r bad mmkay

  • Love the falsetto -what a man!

  • Every woman who watches this video gets pregnant.

  • @baparafien DAMN. Just finished watching it, too.

  • @baparafien If only that were true!

  • @baparafien in my case, I hope you're correct

  • @baparafien There's a joke in there somewhere.

  • @baparafien:RE:"Every woman who watches this video gets pregnant"

The only problem with your "comment" is, that Marvin Gaye was actually really gay in his real life+was shot to death by his father because of this in 1983.

I´m asking myself how utterly tasteless can people get on YouTube with certain silly unreflected comments.

Marvin Gaye was never in bed with women+if you don´t know this, then it´s your problem, not the problem of gay men.

His whole heterosexual image was a Tamla Motown fake.

  • @MrSKINFLICK I think it was said as a joke...Did Marvin tell you this...doubt it. Anyway, his sexual orientation doesn't matter because at the end of the day the man made great music

  • @MrSKINFLICK April 2, 1939- April 1, 1984. Other than that you got it right.

  • @baparafien nope,not me lol

  • Yes, he is a timeless vocalist. His sound is so distinct. Love that music!

  • grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:D

  • this makes rap suck, black people, pick up your instruments and lay down the mic, not everyone needs a mic dammit, we need more shit like this nowadays!

  • @vtponcho We need more shit like this- regardless of race.

But in reality, there are only a handful as great as Marvin ;)

  • @vtponcho You got that right! Black folks act like they don't know what a guitar is. lol

  • @vtponcho yea more Blacks need to learn to play instruments!

  • Marvin Gaye is timeless

  • THIS VIDEO MADE ME A MAN

  • @ShermDesigns How?

  • you would have thought there would be better musician around now, considering as humans we are supposed to get better at things as time goes on, but I've never been to a concern where the music as tight as this! or can carry a groove like this.

this dudes are true artist, timeless classic

  • @1968bartman In this community we lost alot of generations of talented muscians due to a plethora of reasons like the crack era mainly and also on the industry becoming less focused on players and more on technology.

  • How long would it take anyone to realise I’m not talking about a RACE problem. I am talking about the final solution to the BLACK problem?

And how long would it take any sane black man to notice this and what kind of psycho black man wouldn’t object to this?

  • This is soooo classic! I love it! The background singers were jamming! I love Marvin Gaye - he was my mom's favorite is this was her favorite song! Makes me dance anytime i hear it!

  • QUE CHULO MARVIN!!!

  • sweet damn! those horns are facking awesome!!!!

  • Ahhh Yeah baby, Marvin may be gone but never forgotten. RIP MG

  • Now I think I see where Michael Jackson and The Jacksons could have got the idea for "Let's Dance, let's shout, shake your body down to the ground".

  • @Yahcna its actually DIRECTLY from marvin gaye. they borrowed it an added to it :D

  • @bcom11 That's what I was thinking :)

  • CREATIVE???Sorry you are WRONG...Hip Hop and Rap is THE WORST MUSIC ever made...Its the only kind of music that REQUIRES ABSOLUTELY no TALENT AT ALL....You dont have to know how to play an instrument and you dont even need to have a good voice...Therefore,It is THE WORST and TALENTLESS music "EVER"recorded...Can I get an AMEN up in here...LOL

  • @mattdaddyful you're so ignoramt and closed minded.

  • @bcom11 But RIGHT...And you know it..

  • @mattdaddyful actually no.

  • Listening to this song brings back soooo many good times####

  • This is the real music so much better than Justin Beiber fuck that kid

  • Can these new so called r/b groups even blow a fucking horn, play the bongos, kick a bass or play a lead? What do we get now....... pole dancing, booty poppin cussing and computerized bullshit! Why are the Grammys even still around?

  • @44joints You hit it on the head . . . the so-called music of today is soooo sad.

  • @MrPistolMason ...., Thanks for the thumbs up! Atleast we have utube when we want to reflect on real music!

  • This is THE song!! This takes me back. This was the kick off song for our summer cookouts that lasted ALL night until the morning. When this song was played the party was about to get CRANKED up!

  • The whole band is tight! And I love the male backing singers just giving it their all! Loving their moves too! Thank the Lord for video footage like this, so everyone can enjoy Marvin's legacy!

  • I can't stop dancin', I'm on a spell.

This is what Marvin Gaye does to me

  • BROTHERS ARE GETTIN IT IN IN THE BACK...THAT'S HOT.....THANK GOD I GREW UP WITH ALL THIS GREAT MUSIC...THANK YOU FOR THE POST...

  • love it but TURN THE MIC UP

  • That is NOT Sheila E.

  • I think when the "Likes" outnumber the "Dislikes" 30:1, the labels should change to "Likes" and "Douchenozzles."

My wife and I plan to conceive all of our future children to Marvin Gaye.

  • Marvin is grooving, but the band got it going on no lie.

  • Love this man with my heart & soul! ♥

  • Love Marvin Gaye - brings me back - this is the jam you just don't want to end.

  • This shit is the JAM!! that lady is rock'n that cow bell hella hard. Get down sista. Marvin is on the one here. Looking good and sounding great, as only Marvin can. Now this is music I guess that's why it went to #1 on both the pop and R&B charts in 1977. Thanks so much for the post for those of us who never got to see Marvin live.
