  • @shulom1 u can learn it here memphis ,tn . we train this as well as dog brothers, pekiti tirsai kali, ect. we are a small but steadily growing group .

  • Great FUN!

  • I can do that. Hold my beer........

  • hundred of years before, malays combine silat with black magic. silat is just a perfect combination with nature. and of course its not good to use black magic with silat because its like being the ultimate human.

  • One tips for everyone, never charge at a silat master because even though silat people don't look ready, they are lightning fast. (i've experienced on one of my friend) and it hurts so damn much. Most european like kung all sorts of stuff coz they say dat kung fu is damn fast, it in kung fu, they do open hit but silat, all attacks are fast and are usually in combinations so its possible that death meet you first even with the first hit!!!

  • @predatorzi

Duh, all that you have said can be achieved with any martial art styles, not just Silat.

  • impressive reaction sword attacks!! really amazing ^^ they can even parry a sword throw at short distance which is really difficult to do

great students are products of real masters :)

  • i wanna see more!!!sensational art love it!!!!

  • tentu lebih bagus jika ada video SSBD dr mana mana kejohanan / fighting sebenar.

  • wow, that was freakin awsome i do hapkido and i noticed an elbow roll in there which is one of our core techniques and he just took it to the next level with those knee strikes bloody brutal and AWSOME, not to mention that warpath demonstration which was fantastic. looked like something from a bloody movie all up bloody awsome

  • i love the 2 men weapon assault. now tats wad i called teamwork.. ((:

  • search SILAT LINCAH MALAYSIA ~ ILMU KEBAL vs PARANG!!! (SUPER FEARLESS CONTENT) in youtube..u'll find the true silat in the world..by the way, silat harimau bentara garang in kedah, malaysia is the most powerful silat that i ever learned..there's no much vdeo in this web or other, just contct this number 0174024601(malaysia number)

  • The "Sword Response" section is incredible, I wish my reflexes were that fast and accurate.

  • deadwinterheart: what arts do you train in?

  • I mainly practice taekwondo, but I have also had training in Kali/eskrima.

  • The music that goes with this video is most inspiring. It goes well with combative system. May I know the title and the performer?

  • nice moves man , i practice your stuff a lot

  • the martial art...

  • Silat is a jaw droping martial art. if u do videos on how to do all of theses moves id be happy to watch.

  • Nice. I like Brunei's Silat styles.

  • I would also like to apologize to my Shihan, Jose Amato "R.I.P".

  • I mite of been harsh. I apologize to Silat Suffian, all its instructers and all its students. I would not of liked it to be done to me, or my stly. I do hold a 3Dan in Judo and a Mukuruku in Ju-Jitsu. My respects and deep apologize to all.

  • I do hold 3rd Dan in Taekwondo, 5th Dan in Karate, 11th Dan in Judo, 12th Dan in Hwa Rang Do, 1243 times national championship for Muay Thai, 14 years experience in Silat, 15 years in FMA, been involved in street fights everyday, kill 45 soldiers, bungie jumping, skating, knitting, youtubing, keyboarding, dancing, screaming, and so on. I'm a warrior. I know many things about martial arts.

  • This shit wont last work nothing on a combat zone or on the streets with a crack head on a high trying to rob your shit. Pretty for the movies.

  • Your 100% right about that

  • Mr. Maul

Hope to meet you in the Netherlands soon.

    Your intensity is right...

    Hormat & Adat

  • this is awesome

  • guru maul is awesome! silat brunei is an awesome martial art.. just wondering when silat suffian is going to open a gelangang belajar for your fellow anak brunei?

  • Looks alot like what jason bourne uses.

  • jason bourne uses silat and kali style

  • jason bourne uses kali. kali and silat are cousins.

  • Jason Bourne is a fictional character, and was never specified as training in any particular style by author Robert Ludlum.

In the films though, most of his training was various Kali/Silat hybrids

  • correction it is marine melee combat, davance combat and krav maga (Israeli special forces) most of them are close quarter military combats. Kali is a great martial arts, choreographed forms can be applied in fights very fluid movements. Silat is a self defence, focusing on taking the person's balls eye gouging etc, well I agree they need that to beat the Muay Thai Siamese guys in the old days fair enough their weapons are poisoned, coz they have to face 1 vs 100+ or smth like tat but..u kno..

  • correction, it was Kali. Not wanting to sound like a Nerd, but watch any of the special features on any of the Bourne DVDs.

  • yea ur rite i checked, my bad hehe but i can't really see much kali in it hmm. why would i think tatz nerdy? only a retard will try to argue tat kali n krav maga is the samething n call someone nerd for trying to distinguish it

  • I see LOADS of kali in it. EVERYTHING in it's Kali. Most people associate Kali with sticks when in reality it has a LOT of empty hand stuff. Silat's my main thing, tho i've spent a lot of time doing Kali too.

The 3rd one (Bourne Ultimatum) in particular is all Kali in the fights. One of my teachers used to work with the choreographer.

  • impressive mate. Im Malaysian, not many Malaysians regard Silat as a Martial Arts of choice, its more like a dancing art or a cheap self defence becoz of its nature(eye gouging...etc). But it is one of our national treasure....its an art to be respect...becoz in the wrong hands its scary, and in the right hands it will bring peace and repel wicked...where do u learn u're silat btw?

  • I teach in Scotland and i learn from my teacher from indonesia and from Guru Maul (Above) who's from Brunei

  • IC the varieties of styles of Silat in Malaysia are crazy, one of them actually looks like wing chun kung fu. I love the weapon Keris...sucha a beautiful but scary relic. Kali is an ancient South Indian or Tamil fighting style rite? and legend has it that Shao Lin started their martial art training when Bodhidharma which is one of the prince from one of the south indian kingdoms who became a buddhist monk arrive at the temple an started teaching the monks self defence,do u think tatz kali?

  • No, Kali's Filipino.

  • isn't tat escrima? are they actually the same thing?

  • No, they're not the same thing. Just very similar in a lot of ways. Most schools claim to teach Kali Eskrima and Arnis. I just teach Kali.

    Priority's always on silat though.

  • IC respect mate ^^ maybe someday when my training on Wing Chun is complete I get to learn some weapon mastery...I am looking forward to learn some Escrima coz it is really similiar to wing chun's butterfly knifes' technique but more sophisticated and complicated....fast and beautiful thnx for the clarification, Good on ya mate :P

  • no filipino just steall silat. the southern filipino have silat but peoples from the central and north hide about that and then absorb silat technique and then called it as their own as name of escrima, kali, arnis etc.

  • Hey sucker we didn't steal anything from you our people are mixed and have the same g*d damn roots and it's the same for our culture and our martial art please stop bragging about "wouhou we are the first" because neither of us know the truth

  • What you're refering to is kalari/ kalaripayat from india...

  • Not many Malaysians regard Silat as a martial art of choice? That is so unfortunate. I have trained in Chinese and Japanese styles for years, and I can tell you that Silat is very upfront in it's approach and highly realistic, and yes dangerous as long as the principles are followed as they will under a devoted practitioner. I can tell you one thing, the few guys that I know that REALLY have it's essence have blinding fast hand speed. It's like the person is always hit or thrown b4 they know it!

  • haha at 2:00 he throws the red stick at the dudes gut lol

  • always practice a maeuver 2000 times... a day.

hey wheres this music from, ive heard it before.

  • amazing!!! direct and effective..!

  • Who knows where it came from?

The only thing I care about is effectiveness..

And what this guy is showing is awesome...Wherever it came from, this guy on the video is obviously highly skilled.

  • Who cares where it came from at this point? If you guys trained half as much as you talk...well, enough said.

What matters is this guy is producing strong looking students with reliable technique. The rest is egofluff!

  • An honor to recieve a comment from Guru Jason Heriford - Founder of American Martial Arts Academy, MidWest Regional Director of the World Kali Silat Society USA, Guro in Sina Tirsia Wali, Master Rank in Karate, Black Belt In American Jiu Jitsu

  • @JasonHeriford "Egofluff." Excellent. I will be borrowing this phrase.

  • What can I say? You have VERY clean technique Guru!

Everyone pay attention, there is a true master on the floor.

  • Always an honor to recieve a comment from Guru Bobbe Edmonds.

Founder of Edmonds Martial Arts Academy. One of two people dually ranked by both Pendekar Herman Suwanda and his brother Bambang of Mande Muda Silat and Sudanese Pencak Silat in Bandung Indonesia.

  • stickfighter123: My source didn't talk 'rubbish.' It even stated that it reached technical perfection under the Majapahit kings of the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries.

  • stickfighter123: Thanks for stating my point. The martial art is a mixture of indigenous and foreign influences, so it didn't solely come from India.

  • Howard Alexader didn't solely write the book, stickfighter123: Donn F. Draeger and Quintin Chambers were co-authors. A simple google search on them could also help. So you're saying the art of Pencak Silat didn't have any indigenous roots at all? I've stated that it was influenced by India, but it's uniquely Indonesian.

  • stickfighter123: Please note that the Indonesian language has lone words from Sanskrit, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, Dutch and English. This being a fact, I'm sure there would be Indian words inside the system. Indonesian is considered an open language.

  • stickfighter123: The arts were later influenced by the continental Asian arts. Silat is a merger between indigenous and foreign cultures. It didn't come directly out of India.

  • stickfighter123: Have you read Pentjak-Silat: The Indonesian Fighting Art, by Howard Alexander? There's a section in the book where he states "Art objects and artifacts show that, by about the eighth century A.D., specific systems of combative measures had been evolved and were operative in the Riouw Archipelago, which lies between Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula."

  • stickfighter123: Pencak Silat didn't come from India, but I'm sure the art was influenced by Kalaripayit though. The history of Silat has strong roots throughout the Malay world, so saying that the art came from India would be a harsh generalization.

  • silat came from indonesia man...

  • to be frank.. silat can't claim its rightful origin from anywhere in SouthEastAsia since it dates back so far n mandatory dispute is so unclear in borneo.

Am from brunei btw, if u think what i say is bullshit then check with a historian >3 am willing to accept corrections though.

but still, silat is widely learned in the SEA countries.

  • if u know brunei history XD philipines n malaysia was part of brunei before srivijayan n majapahit invaded respectively. and brunei shrunk to a small country after the british got involved into borneo n slowly take away lands which then became the Malaya union ( now called Malaysia) as they were hunting for an metal called antimony, abundance in borneo. i think the guy was called charles brooke or something. but definitely a name brooke in it.

  • did u guys know the first silat was actually from malaysia and then it spreads out and people make new silat like the bruneian silat...malaysian silat is much better..

  • Nope you are wrong original silat came from Indonesia and spread through southeast asia through the SriVijayan and Madjapahit Empire. Bruneian Martial Arts is not new, it existed before Islam came to Southeast asia. And no Malaysian Silat is not better, in the west its ranked Malaysian Silat 3rd after Filipino, Indonesian.

  • Maul mornie come from Brunei,he can to know his tradition !please stay in your country

  • I noticed a striking while defending against a knife attack move that looked like Krav Maga. Was that the style, or is it just similar?

  • This is the 1st time I see a silat 2 men weapon assault technique.. Guro Maul your family's art is just AMAZING!!

  • RESPECTS for Guro Maul..

  • amazing, never seen something like this before. go brunei go

  • Always an honor to recieve a comment from a great martial artist and individual, Sensei Greg Park. Choson Ninjitsu Sensei, KTHF certified and Kwang Do Korean Police Martial Arts Association to train Law enforcement Peace officers in the USA
