Carol and Jonathan, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Kate. I have followed the story of your 2 babies since my son first brought home 2 from PCB in 2009. One did not make the trip home to Tn and about 2 months later the other passed. We lost a few through trial and error and pps.
I'm so sorry about Kate, I've had hermit crabs for awhile now and my blueberry Cookie is almost as big as Jonathan :) I hope my little buddies are with me as long as yours are
Wow your worlds best crab owner I wish my hermit crabs were as big and old and cute as yours I have 2 crabs Mario a blueberry at age 4 and violet a at 3 I love my crabs but my parents were mad because I spent 129 bucks for all of their proper things and them they have now resided in a 55 gallon screen and special reptile lamp tank in my room :p
So beautiful~... I just lost my 7 (almost 8) year old girl; I really wanted her to keep on growing with me through my life. Carol is so blessed, and so are her crabs. <3
AMAZING 32 years and they are huge wow taking care of them must be tough. i have 2 crabs about age 5 and 3. they arent too hard to take care of and i learned to just completely adore them =)
I'm in a Yahoo group with Carol and I've seen many pictures of these 2 guys and know that they just had another successful molt, so it was nice to see them in action instead of just still photos.
I noticed that she lets her crabs out all the time, I am sure that exercise has helped keep them alive so long!
@crabstreet, do you know if Carol has given a full description of her husbandry anywhere? I mean I am really interested, but also now that I am thinking about it she could probably write a definitive book. She should get with a publisher!!
Carol, if you are reading this i would like to say a few things. First you have inspierd me to get some more hermit crabs and before i did have some but thought they were boring. second i'm amazed how big your hermit crabs are but i know they can live for along time. crabstreet, thanks for posting this video.

There. Thats proof that hermit crabs can live for more than a couple years. This proves that they are not short term pets.
