He was always impeccably dressed, but it's interesting to note that he had a variety of outfits, not landed with just the one suit as some of the other Doctors were - it adds an air of authenticity to the part. JP was one of the greats.
Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor Who as a young child. That theme used to give me chills every week. I still think of this version of Dr Who as having some of the scariest monsters and regularly watched from behind the sofa.
Jon will always be my personal favorite out of all the Doctors. He was perfect. Although they are all great playing the part, Jon will always in my mind be THE Doctor.
I wish, ( I think it's Roadshow ) would get their act together as I was really looking forward to the February release of Frontier In Space and Planet Of The Daleks, 2 stories that I haven't seen would you believe, well on dvd that is lol
A classic actor and a true gentleman never to be forgotten. I dont know if it is just me but it seemed Dr Who went down hill big time after Tom Baker left the series and for this it was very sad for me to see this program carry on for many years but never succeeded in reviving my interest in the show again... how ever just recently when the new Dr Who series a new doctor came onto the scene i was impressed with him how ever he apparently was only in for 1 season anyone know whom i speak of?
Dont let the gray hair fool you--he could venusian karate chop you into unconsciousness in 2 seconds flat or outwit you. His scenes building gadgets in his UNIT lab while trying to explain to his companions were always memorable. And then of course there was the unforgettable on screen chemistry between him and Delgado and of course the introduction of Sarah Jane. Pertwee's run on Doctor Who was one for the ages!!
I met Jon in 1984. He was so kind and warm to a 12 year old fan as he could be. I was so nervous meeting him. The only TV star I had met previously was John Schneider!
Sorry, SCross440, accidently clicked spam instead of reply. Just wanted to agree with you on how good he was as an actor. I was watching a tape of "The Avengers", thinking how much that show seemed like Doctor Who during the early 70's. No sooner did I think that when suddenly Jon Pertwee appeared in a scene (playing a Brigadier, no less!!) He was a VERY funny man.

Quite funny he was indeed. Even as the Doctor, he had a lot of funny moments including when he disguised himself as a...one a milkman in "The Green Death" as well as a woman in the same scene..or something pretty close.
Jon Pertwee was highly enjoyable to watch in the role of the doctor and those are some of my favourite episodes.

What If Katy Manning appeared in Graham Chapman's Flying Circus, in the episode "Whickery's World"?

Superb. Jon Pertwee WAS and ALWAYS WILL BE The Doctor to me.
Loved him, The Brigadier, UNIT, Bess etc etc...
Unlike Baker he took the part seriously too.

@GrandPrix55 there's nothing wrong with that though. Just Baker's interpretation.
