This is a great vid. The best recording of this song was the Whitney Houston one at the superbowl, but here, little Jackie blows it out of the water in a mere rehearsal! The girl is beyond superlatives.
@ulgah1 You know you reminded me of something I've been so negligent of. Kudos to Karlous Crabtree who recorded this originally. Thank you Karlous for your contribution of this classic video and allowing it to continue on.
@Skallelv2 I agree! As you said, in the live performance, she sang it in a higher key than planned. What is striking to me is that, in front of a huge crowd and an exponentially more huge national TV audience on New Year's Day, she went for the high note "free" anyway. She didn't have to do it, and no one would have been the wiser, and it still would have been a great performance. She displayed courage and confidence in herself and her desire to always "give it your all" - and nailed it!
She was so perfect here! When she sang it at the game, the rowdy crowd noise and cheers for her were so loud that she couldn't hear herself or the monitors, and started one note high. This was fine until her last high note. It didn't sound right to her, but she toughed it out. (This was according to Lisa E)
wow 9 months went by fast. She would have been great singing the anthem at the recent 2011 US OPEN women Semi's commemorating 9/11's 10th anniversary. Even today's men's finals would be good. (sept 12 2011)
this girl needs to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl!

This is my favorite Jackie recording, so far. When she sing solo a cappella she opens up and sounds ethereal.

@dewgames Agree. All that mess around her suddenly turns into a perfect harmony. Her huge voice really comes out of nowhere.

Wow, Jim you got more kudos in 24 hours by re-posting that vid, than I did in the 4 months that I had it up! Hmmm?

*Jackie could sing the Manhattan Telephone Book & send 'goosebumps' up the spine*

Only Jackie can afford "bringing out the choice wine first". It was like setting a World Record during a warm-up. For me the best Anthem ever.
