Pro- Singing was bang on(though lacking dynamics). Lighting, set, and overall tech very well done.
Con- Overly simplistic and generally boring choreo. Acting was lacking, but understandably so seeing as these are teens attempting to portray thirty-somethings.
Overall, I'm quite impressed with how it was pulled off. I'd have paid to see it.
very nicely done! the singing, and harmony was great. I noticed, each couple did the soft shoe, then when bobby did, he realized that even though he had all his friends, he was really alone, and walks away a little sad. I heard that section of the OB cast recording, but never got it until now.
Thanks for telling me what I "should have gotten." I generously appreciate the reply! But enough English... Did you listen to the OBC recording, to hear the "little additions"? And yeah, if I were directing, I'd cut-out the little vocal chirps and let the orchestra percussion "bump" the notes.
Only 14 can do this show. There is no place in the script for an ensemble. Sorry. This production added a small ensemble at the end of Act 1 Getting Married and Act 2 Ladies Who Lunch nightclub scene. A grand total of 10 minutes of stage time.
you have no right to 1) correct my view of what this number is supposed to be or 2) guilt me into giving you feedback. and i seriously doubt that you were exculsively waiting three months for my feedback.
Now, didn't I write "please' & "thanks" very nicely in my original reply to you... So what's with your bitchy attitude? And no, I wasn't waiting "exculsively" nor exclusively for 3 months... but I "have no right to" correct your spelling. If you don't want to comment about the clip just say so, without TELLING me my rights, huh? Aren't theatre people supposed to be the nicest. What's happened to the both of us?!?!
Thanks for noticing! This number is supposed to be a bit "different" than the others. The cast is "presenting" this "production number" to the audience over-the-top, much the way it was presented by the original B'way cast, not the revival.

This group did a better job than the recent Bway revival. Bravo!

The dancing was also good.

this scene is done best in the donmar version because as he says "parallel lines that meet" he takes out a tray with cocaine and starts to do it.
awesome for high school. nice scenic design
kwgybo345 2 years ago
The line is, "Parallel lines, who meet." It's interesting that you judge BEST by the use of drugs! ;-}
I just popped in my Donmar video and watched a few minutes worth. I'm not sooo crazy about the interpretation in that version.
Thanks for the compliment - it's my set design. The small cast was great and had a wonderful time together.

ACTING SUCKS BALLS
lebqt95 2 years ago
Why?
Usually I delete comments that don't offer an explanation, but yours intrigues me.
Left, right, or both?
leojrevlis 2 years ago
Cummon - your profile says that you're 21 years old. Can't you do any better than "sucks balls"?
leojrevlis 2 years ago
Absolutely LOVE this - great standard for a school prodiction!

I didn't like the little additions and the random jelts of screaming...
Like the three-peat of "how would we ever get..."
It was kind of distracting. But maybe because I generously watch the revival version. Still, good job, vocally.
tinytimton 3 years ago
Those were not "little additions." The latest revival had "little subtractions." Listen to the OBC CD!
What is "jelts"? I cannot find the word in any dictionary.
Also, what do you mean by "generously watch"?
Yeah - the vocals were decent. It's the second-act opener, and it's a fun number. These guys managed a nice execution.
Thanks for your comments, at least the parts that I understood.
leojrevlis 3 years ago
When someone says they "generously (verb)" something, it means that they do whatever it is a lot. It's a common English phrase.
Jelt is not a word. I made it up to represent the repeats. If you read it in context with my sentences, you should of gotten it.

How many people were in your cast? Could you do this show with an ensemble? Or in any words could a theater of 40 perform this show?

I believe i read in one of the comments that the young man playing the lead was 15 years old? Such talent, poise and maturity. He does a super job.

Nice song (but again Amy is doing the arms in the beginning!)

I just love your production of Company. It's great.
Did you have a band, or did you use a CD recording?
jag6232 4 years ago
Thanks! Everybody worked very long-and-hard on this piece. Yes, there was a real-live-full-student orchestra.

What a great number!!! The song speaks for itself. The choreography is WONDERFUL!!!
searsco 5 years ago
i wish the choreography was better - that's what makes this number so special in this show.
Bcubed21 5 years ago
I'll relay you comment to the choreographer.
Actually the "special" part is - this is Bobby's "vision" in his head, of his friends performing a mammothly long and tiring production number.
Meanwhile Brian, what parts in particular upset you the most?
Please search & view the school's other show clips & give me feedback.
Thanks!
