He claims that these people don't understand Monetary Policy at all. Brinker also said that if our Money System was run by Congress, as The Constitution stipulates, our Economy would be in an absolute shambles.

A lot of people believe that when hyper-inflation kicks in in earnest, that their debts will be inflated away. That what they currently owe will be dramatically reduce, or wiped out. Ordinarily that would be true, but don't bet on it. The government's reaction will be anything but ordinary. Hyper-inflation notwithstanding, there's no way under the sun that the government, nor corporate America is going to allow debtors off the hook, and lose out on collecting fully on billions in revenue.

You'll live high on the hog until hyper inflation hits, then you can pay it back super easy. Hyper inflation means cheap money! You could pay it all back with one bill probably!
But you are correct, if you can make the payments on the loan, the rate is locked in, and locked in until the hyperinflation comes (which is a tough call to make), then taking out massive loans is an effective strategy. And you have to be sure your income is going to up too so you will be able to payoff that loan in your debased dollars. But what if you lose your job, then what? You lose everything. Its a risky route so most people don't do it.
groundshop, interesting point. I would be with you if I could take out a 15 or 30 yr commercial loan. Commercial loans usually are no longer than 7yrs. Commercial loans must be renewed after this period. My present commercial loan runs out in 2013. I don't want to think about what the interest rates will be then. I understand your point and I agree. The economy has been a mess for a long time. The high unemployment we see now, is mostly new white people who are unemployed. In black and other poor communities around the country unemployment has already been high. A lot of people believe that when hyper-inflation kicks in in earnest, that their debts will be inflated away. That what they currently owe will be dramatically reduce, or wiped out. Ordinarily that would be true, but don't bet on it. The government's reaction will be anything but ordinary. Hyper-inflation notwithstanding, there's no way under the sun that the government, nor corporate America is going to allow debtors off the hook, and lose out on collecting fully on billions in revenue.

But you are correct, if you can make the payments on the loan, the rate is locked in, and locked in until the hyperinflation comes (which is a tough call to make), then taking out massive loans is an effective strategy. And you have to be sure your income is going to up too so you will be able to payoff that loan in your debased dollars. But what if you lose your job, then what? You lose everything. Its a risky route so most people don't do it.

Commercial loans must be renewed after this period. My present commercial loan runs out in 2013. I don't want to think about what the interest rates will be then. I understand your point and I agree. The economy has been a mess for a long time. The high unemployment we see now, is mostly new white people who are unemployed. In black and other poor communities around the country unemployment has already been high. Now in the past couple years it has reached the affluent parts of America and this is causing more people to worry, and more people to speak out about it. But that is a really big issue, because that means, like george said here, we are on the breaking point, the point of no return.

George, we just had primary elections here in Texas and ALL 32 Republican incumbents made it to the general election in November. Why are people still voting for these criminals? Any politician that voted for the bailouts should be replaced. But, not in the great state of Texas I guess. The US government and its agencies are all corrupt. Captured by big business and corporations who have bought them off. I hope Texas voters change their minds in the November elections. Otherwise....

Trust me. We feel the pain, just not on the same scale as everyone else...yet. I'm sure Slick Rick Perry will have us feeling the pain before long though, considering he took $15 billion in federal money just to make it through this past year.
