  • There are no musicians today who write lyrics like this! What a shame!

..."I heard the roar of wave that could drown the whole world..."

..."I heard the sound of poet who died in the gutter..."

..."I met a young child beside a dead pony..."

..."Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison..."

...And I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinking..."

  • I dedicate this song to my son, Jude Tyler Bickel, who turned 16 today. Someday I hope we find each other again. Until that day I hope all your days are happy ones.

  • she captured dylans despiriation. thats rare for a cover. brilliant.

  • Well done.

  • I ussed have a horse that used to break every boundry that I set to get a herd a mile away. Lorry killed her. This describes my feelings perfectly.

  • Joni Mitchell couldn't have done a better job of covering this song. Well done!

  • why are the original versions of dylan's songs nowhere to be found on youtube?

  • @Alcharchist26 yea,whats up with that?

  • @Alcharchist26 cuz of sony..

  • @LUCKas1212 fucking corporate asses...sorry for swearing in a such a wonderful song...

    BEST COVER EVER

  • great Dylan's song that only Joan can perform it with total grace and style

  • Fantastic - beautifully sung, superbly written, wonderfully imaged. Thanks, that was the best seven and a half minutes I've had for a long time. Loved it!

  • So many ppl thnk of most of Dylan's songs as a time-capsule relic of the 60s.

But what Ben Jonson said about Shakespeare also applies to many of his works, and especially this song:

It is "not of an age, but for all time."

That said, as bornagain66 wrote before, it seems even more appropriate right now than ever before.

Thanks for sharing it here, and for the amazing slideshow.

  • This is incredibly beautiful and oh so relevant in this world of ours in 2011

  • What a Powerfull Track.

  • Finally a version where you can make out the lyrics!

  • 3:26...we spend trillions to build robots to drive around the surface of Mars but this kid can't get a bowl of rice or a glass of water, it actually makes me sick to my stomach that this world is the way it is

  • @SumNJFella the worst part is we spend trillions more on bombing kids like this.

  • one word ...'beautiful'

  • Amazing video and the manner in which that the photos are paired with the lyrics is even more amazing, maybe astounding. Great talent put this video together. This song was very popular and was an anthem in Vietnam to the Vietnam War in the early 60's. And what can you say about Joan Baez, there is only one and there never ever will be another with a gifted voice such as JB possesses. Oh yes and must include that wonderful wordsmith, Bob Dylan.

  • brilliantly done man, 3.08? is that a real picture? freaky

  • Great job pairing the images with the song. Wish I could do that.

  • awesome video to a great song

  • Forgot to mention Bob Dylan. How did I miss that? Been a long week and I'm tired, that's why.

  • @SunnyLovetts: Right you are. Joan Baez has the gift of producing meaningful music. She's also got an amazing voice. Listening to her is a joy.

Cat Stevens and Leonard Cohen have the same ability. You can't find it these days.

  • @seanburdine She does have an amazingly beautiful voice, but this song was written and originally sung by Bob Dylan.

  • Songs written and composed like this are rare and a treasure.

  • VERY VERY WELL DONE FIRST CLASS PEACE AND LOVE XXXXX NICKY <3

  • just love Dylan

  • Helped me to learn the lyrics again!

  • I may be a die hard conservative, and I dont care a bit for her politics, and as for my position on the current war,if we cant win it in short order we need to get out.But I love this ladies singing, and always have.

  • Joan Biaz was a great poet as well. she introduced dylan for the first time ever. in n.y city i beleive. my mom and dad were there. crazy ass beatnics. god bless them.how music has lost its message is beyond me. i always thought that was the point to reach people with your art.make a dif if possible. this song is so amazing. it has made be a poet since i was 17 never hurt me got me all kinds of women. they love it when your tender.i love to be tender back. peace some day for all the world.

  • es un video muy bueno, me ha gustado el montaje, es genial, la música es buenísima

  • I disagree with shakeme. The pictures are quite fitting. Furthermore, if anyone can sing a Dylan song, it's Joan Baez. This is a wonderful song.
