I think partly why it sounds silly is because she was trying hard not to cry. If she had said deep/serious things it would have made her feel sadder that she's leaving and she'd start to cry, but like this it's silly and she can laugh about it.

This is really awkward. I guess she wasn't as happy as she seemed in S/mileage. That's probably why she didn't want it to be a huge deal and to hold a grad ceremony at a concert tour... :/

I know she's young, but shouldn't she give better speeches to them? Maybe she told them more heartfelt things offstage.

I couldn't tell if she was crying or laughing, but the speeches she gave about the other members were in 1 word: lame.

It's like she never had a good time with them, like they are shit for her.

@NeruKissu While her messages weren't exactly as heartfelt as some people had expected them to be, who knows what else they could've said offstage? It really isn't a personal message when hundreds of other people are watching. (At least, not in my opinion.) They were crying and hugging each other when the event was over. Sometimes actions are louder than words.

Saki is a very exceptional girl who is willing to give up fame to pursue her next big dream. Not everyone can do that & understand the value of privacy over fame. She probably also doesn't want to be bounded by long term contracts. She has a real free spirit. We'll all miss her.

@sailorsolidersfan1 The timing of it all is just too coincidental. I think that's just an excuse. There's a lot of rumors going around that she had a conflict with Upfront and she was let go because of it.

@sailorsolidersfan1, I wish that could be the case but if you look at Yaguchi Mari, Kago Ai, Ishikawa Rika, Yossie, Arihara Kanna etc. Those are examples of how UFA sweep members under the rug when there is contraversy behind the scenes. Especially when the departures are abrupt and low key. If you look at Sakitty's departure, less than 1 week's notice...no graduation ceremony though she's dedicated 6 yrs of her life to H!P. Ending her career in such a crappy fashion makes you kinda wonder.

@GoYoonA I'm not too worried about that. Compared to AK, there's still a lot more talent left in H!P. Plus I'm more interested in the "variety" aspect of H!P more than the musical aspect and thus my comment. Though, I do agree that Ai-chan's departure will be a major loss, I've never lost faith in H!P's ability to produce future names.

@AdehhRR ♦ Just because Sakichii was not good at articulating her feelings does not necessarily mean she was completely unhappy while she was in S/mileage. Not everyone is good at giving a heart warming speech. If she was happy to get out then she would have been calm and unemotional in her speech. Instead she was more of lose of words and teary eye.

@AdehhRR: I think she just got stage fright which manifested itself into nervous laughter. Being a young Japanese pop idol is incredibly demanding- you don't get days off and the training & working hours practically break the child labour laws. You have more responsibilities than what a lot of adults have to worry about.

I think Saki couldn't keep up with it all and wanted to go back to focusing on her education before it was too late, but i do think she had a fun time in S/mileage :) .
