that was awesome. i do something similar but using live's native plugins for stability, had some problems with that in the past. check out my videos if you fancy some more contorllerism ^^. also: sexy rig.

@djpanik3d Where are your videos and music then buddy? If you have such strong opinions maybe you should back them up, otherwise go troll somewhere else - this is a place for people interested in controllerism and live electronic music; apparently not you.
@svankov Never mind that!! you can't please them all!! but you pleased me! :D very very nice! I personaly hate to see Dj pretending to turn buttons so they look busy between pressing play on decks! :P
@djpanik3d This must be the first time you have seen a single person doing Live PA from behind the scenes.. most live Ableton artists do a lot les.. why dont you post up your music? lets see you do it better.. the man only has 2 fucking hands, and you are not taking into account the amount of time it takes to actually make a track, and then convert it for live play.. Eat a dick, dude.. Unless you can do better, you are just a critic with no first hand experience at what you are talking about.
Oh and pardon my ignorance, but could either you or anybody else please tell me what that beat-synced red light strip is? It looked as if it was a part of the bcr2000 but pics of it suggest not (I've never seen one up close). Cheers.
Dude you're a freakin pure inspiration. I've been producing for years but you haven't just opened my eyes, you've melted my eyelids clean off with this vid. I'm sat here thinking, how long would this take to sequence by hand? I mean it would take days on end to manual automate all that shit. I am so damn inspired to start producing tracks live. Omg I can't even properly put into words how I'm feeling. Thank you sooo much for this! I could watch you perform forever.
you're honestly phenomenal man. In my opinion you blow everyone out of the water! I'd love to know more of how your running stuff especially with your apc 40. message me sometime! Thanks brother for these vids
this is really funky, love the way you are cutting up the beats!!.. how do you set it up to retrigger sections the way you do and also what filters are you using and how do you set them up? i'd love to see your ableton live set file to try figure out how it works..
Perhaps you should do a video showing how you have things setup mouldover style!
Thanks for watching! I primarily use Lucifer VST and Beatlookup for most of the rhythmic manipulations. Some other tools to check out are Artillery 2, as well as Glitch (PC only).
wow, this really inspires me to gett off my ass and start making beats, care to run us through what gear you have there, im a noob but i rekon i see a kaos pad and a monome, elighten me. look forward to seeing more, cheers.
No. Both the BCR and the KP2 are just sending MIDI to Live. All processing is happening in software (several Live effects, plus Lucifer VSTi and Beatlookup Reaktor ensemble).
The monome is just sending MIDI to Live via Max/MSP (a modified version of the MidiPress app), and controls a clip matrix in Live, an instance of Lucifer VST, and the Beatlookup Reaktor ensemble for beat indexing, slicing and dicing. If you have a monome and are looking to control Live (the clip matrix, specifically), you should check out the Monome Basic app, which actually allows your monome to work as a "control surface" in Live, so it's super easy to set up!
Some other (Ableton) effects in play are Simple Delay, Erosion, Redux, Grain Delay.. One "important" parameter (per effect) assigned to a top-row knob on my BCR2000. The nice thing is that these top-row knobs on he BCR have push-button functionality; I've mapped the push to turn the effect on/off. This way, I can push on a knob to engage the effect, twist the knob to change the "important" parameter, then release the knob to turn off the effect; this is quite effective for fast effect tweaking.
Actually, there's no BeatRepeat in my setup; found it a little too difficult and unpredictable to use reliably live. Instead, I am running Lucifer and the BeatLookup Reaktor ensemble (both hosted inside Ableton) for beat-retriggering/stuttering. Google these plug-ins to find out more about how they work.
I will be working on a video detailing my setup soon, so I'll post as soon as it's available.
honestly I'd love some more info on your effect setup, I'm assuming beatrepeat is doing a lot of work but I'd love a run through of exactly what you're doing. I hear a delay time being swept of course, and beatrepeat. do you have multiple beatrepeats set up to buttons on the bcr?
the reason I ask is that most the time this kind of stuff sounds terrible, so I'm wondering what the trick is to keep it from sounding jumbled the way it usually does. or are you just talented?
KP2 is just sending MIDI to a Reaktor BeatLookup instance in Live.. it's not doing any audio processing at all. Actually, just about all audio processing is happening within Live. Oh, and let's not forget the sound-reactive LED...sweet :) Thanks for watching!

are you using the BCR2000 to send midi messages to the Kaoss pad? or are those effects internal in Ableton?
