I have much respect for the boys at Stuttgart who have maintained the standard while continuously improving upon an already amazing machine. And Ferrari said it was the 911 they considered a thorn in their side. The gtr is an admirable machine but it just doesn't have the pedigree of Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. I hope VW takes care of Porsche when they take over the company next year.

The 997 Turbo must have a lot of mid-range power to overtake the M5 like that. At 0.23-0.25sec, the M5 decided to take the fight back to the Porsche but it was just too much for it. 0.26-0.30, the 911 just shoots away. Respect to the M5 sedan for putting up such a fight coz 911 Turbo is a beast. Excellent race.
An M6 is not as fast as a 997 turbo, theres about half a car length in it between M5 AND M6. Bearing in mind the M5 in this clip had about 530bhp. The standard 997 turbo still caught it after the M5 jumped the start. Point to point the 997 turbo is one of the quickest cars A to B and it would kill an M5/M6 on a track. Even the standard C2S would kill any M car on a track.
not a straight 6, but a flat 6 aka boxer motor with twin variable turbos, just as poweful as the M5s V-10 but in a much lighter package...hence the easy overtaking :-)

Sure it's not a Boxer engine? I always thought they used a 6Cyl Boxer.

not a straight 6, but a flat 6 aka boxer motor with twin variable turbos, just as poweful as the M5s V-10 but in a much lighter package...hence the easy overtaking :-)

Yeah BMW had the obvious jump. Amazing midrange power in the turbo for it's ability to eventually overtake the M5.
