Scar and Zira obviously had something going on, whether romantic or not. Zira most likely wanted to keep the "memory" of Scar alive, so she trained Kovu to be just like him and eventually become king. (Kovu means Scar) Why Kovu looks like Scar is pure coincidence. Scar and Kovu are NOT related!

In the end, Zira's plan does succeed, Kovu becomes king (at some point) without the evil intentions.

Yes, in the official story Kovu isn't Scar's son b/c that would raise a whole lot of issues that aren't exactly Rated-G material. However, I noticed the resemblence btw Scar and Kovu when I first saw this movie when I was a kid, and it was too much of a coincidence.

Yep agreed! - zira is his mother but scar is not his father scare or Taka, actually adopted Kovy because he found Nuka to incompitant to rule after him even though he's his own son. It is believed that Scar actually gained the scar from fighting off Kovu and Vitanis father.

Valodi attempted to woo Scars and Ziras first daughter Azra when scar and zira were king and queen so he could take over pride rock. though eventualy Valodi was caught and was killed. That left Shetani with Valodis cub. In order to spare her life, Scar made Shetani hand over that cub, which was Kovu.

This song would be awesome if I knew what the hell the guy was saying... It sounds good, though; I'm gonna look up the lyrics. I like this video; it really delivers insight into Kovu's character. It also kinda seems like he lets go of that regret in the end, which you don't see a lot in entertainment because regret makes such good TV. It's refreshing to see someone deal with their issues, rather than just mope about them forever. Good job.
