  • I saw Hank's grave back in the 1970's.

He is gone, but he will be alive in our hearts forever.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Is the Hank Music from a car radio near by, or do they actually have speakers at his grave?

@LuvvyDuck - He did indeed help define country into what it should be- sadly it seems to have been redefined by the modern day Taylor Swifts and Rascal Flatts of the world. :(

  • @reelforreal The music was from our car stereo. I agree on your take of current "Country" music.

  • @reelforreal Yes " country music is now a joke " the Taylor Swift thing proves that Nashville will condone anything to make money including promoting the sexuality of a minor! Hank' Lefty'and Webb ruled ! Best country song in years was written by a bluegrass guy Larry Cordell "Murder On Music Row" Bluegrass is getting the same treatment but Mr Monroes resolve will prevail ..

  • i AM NOT SO SURE THE FAMILY WOULD THINK THIS WAS RESPECTFUL FOR YOU GUYS TO BE SMOKING A CIG. AND DRINKING AT HIS GRAVE SIDE.. I THINK IT IS HORRIBLE,

  • @TheReneelittle I think you need to read up on Hank's life. He wouldn't have minded...

  • @TheReneelittle you may be right but seeing as his family are musicians both of them awful wild in their own right I think theyd be okay. I'm sure his grandsons had a few there and I believe I've heard stories of Jamey Johnson downin some whiskey there and puttin a scuff in that old guitar of his... Truth is we all admire death and respect the dead in our way. In the words of the legend himself Mind Your Own Business.

  • I'd like to visit Hank's grave myself, and lay some flowers on it. The man was awesome and helped truly define country music. My dad really loved Hank's music and even sang some of Hank's stuff on his guitar. He passed away in April 2009 and is buried at the same cemetery as Buck Owens.

  • I was too young to see Hank Sr. in person, but saw Bocephus and Hank III. So strange that Hank III looks so much like his granddad. My Mom turned me on to Sr's music as a kid. She had the "Your Cheatin' Heart" soundtrack album and wanted to know if she could get any of his original recordings. A few years later, she had every Hank Sr. album that was available at the time (around 20 or so). You showed no disrespect for having a toast to Hank at his grave. I'm sure he would have if he could.

  • Very nice thank you for sharing your video...this was the first time I have seen his grave site n it is well done. I love Alan Jacksons, "Midnight in Montgomery". That would be an awesome song to play at this grave site! The marble work is beautiful. Glad they have it open to the public, I was a bit surprised by this. Very Cool Bocephus!

  • the only thing disrespectful is that instead of showing up in a pick up or an antique cadi, you showed up in a 1993 chevy cav... lol

  • What a great song that is

  • i visited hank srs' grave in 2001. i was amazesd how many people stopped by while i was there. the MAN still has a great following.

  • What you guys done is in no way disrespectful. I am sure thousands of Hank Sr. fans done the same thing, probably some even more far out. HANK SR. is probably loving every minute of it.

  • @headredbone Thanks, I think you're right. I have no doubt Hank was smiling while we partied. In fact, many people from around the country showed up in just the three hours that we were there. We were celebrating a great man's life most certainly the way he would have wanted.

  • I like a smoke and a Cold beer too but that's disrespectful as fuck!

  • @cessnawings67 When Hank visits his own grave, I'm sure he does it the same way. The man wasn't a preacher. C'mon let's be honest.

  • @cessnawings67 death2ur done it the same way I would have. I am also sure HANK would have done it this way.

  • on the right bench there is a rectangular stain where hank williams 3 accidentally knocked over bottle of jack one night years ago i just thought it was pretty cool its still there

  • @zombiefreak91 Actually, we left one of the stains in 1994 when I accidentally knocked over a small bottle of Jack. I don't know if you're talking about a different one.

  • My life will only be complete when I open up a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon and leave it on Hank's grave, then say a prayer that he rest well in the Lord's kingdom. He conveyed emotions within me that I myself have no control of. It's hard to believe, sometimes, his songs weren't made by him peeking into my diary.

  • he was probably drunk because he was in so much back pain and that helped to dull the pain..i have back pain it is terrrible at times,,people do what they have to do to survive that pain..i don't judge.

  • Hank Williams certainly got a beautiful grave site!

  • He died drunk because Jesus turned water into wine. Jesus was the enabler and most at fault. I do not turn water into wine but I do turn wine into water, though it is a bit yellow.

  • they're obviously fans dumb shit

  • @1redman01, Many times I have sat at a young mans grave in Arlington of a man that I never knew, and wept. Matters not that 'I knew them' or not. Only what they did or stood for or accomplished in their life is what is important. Did I know Hank? No, but I know his music as well as anyone. That's good enough for me to stand by his grave & spend a little time. A chance to remove my hat and hold reverent for a moment and be grateful for his music.

  • he died a rambiln man and he was born a rambilln man

  • been there once in my life and I loved it.. can't wait to go back. I'm from Bama and my grandma lives down there in Wetumpka

  • "god's called home your ramblin' man"

  • i wanna go visit

  • i know ol hanks enjoyin heavin i cant wait to shake his hand one day

  • Hank williams is simply the GREATEST country singer to live! he did not die from an overdose! his death has never been clearly explained, please dont harm hanks image or memory by saying he O.D. on drugs!

  • Harm his image,,,,,his image is that of a tortured soul and a genius. Most artists that have ever fit into that category have had problems with drugs and booze.

  • Jack Cardwell ,from Mobile,Alabama, wrote a song about "The Death of Hank Williams, which he also recorded ! To me it was a great tribute to the legend and can be seen on video right now! Entitled "The Death of Hank Williams/Jack Cardwell ! Watch it ,you will like it !

  • how did he die?

  • On January 1, 1953, Williams was due to play in Canton, Ohio, but he was unable to fly due to weather problems. He hired a chauffeur and, before leaving the old Andrew Johnson Hotel in Knoxville, Tennessee, injected himself with vitamin B12 and morphine. He then left in a Cadillac, though contrary to popular belief, he did not have a bottle of whiskey with him. The only items found in the backseat of his car were a few cans of beer and the hand-written lyrics to an unrecorded song.

  • Thank you. You are absolutely correct on all counts.

  • do you know what happened to the lyrics of that song found in the car it would be great for Jr or III to record it if its still around.

  • Hank died from a overdose of alcohol and medication.

  • If you pass by that grave again anytime soon, say hello from me. It's a long way from England but his songs hit home just as hard.

Thanks for the posting, it's nice to see ole Hank's got a good view!

  • Colin Escott actually, but close enough

  • I was there back in the 1970's!

The road to Hank's grave was a mess back then.

Everything looks so much better today, and it should be.

Hank Williams will always be the best!

    I love him!

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I just recently finished reading a biography on Hank and was wondering what his final resting place looked like.... He breaks my heart. I love him soo much. Thanks for posting this.

  • Yes, when I read his biography by, I believe the author's name was, Colin Prescott, I was in tears when he died in the back of the cadillac. Hank touched so many peoples' souls.

  • Thanks for posting, but is it REALLY so far to Hank's grave that you can't just WALK to it??? C'mon, guys, isn't it a bit more respectful to WALK to a gravesite than to do a "drive-thru" memorial cruise?? Next time, please just hoof it- it's so much more respectful that way.

If you could possibly leave flowers for Hank on behalf of the rest of us, I'm sure it would be appreciated all over the world... Thanks for going there, and thanks for posting this- God bless Hank Williams!!

  • Huh? They have roadways throughout the cemetery for a reason. How interesting would a fifteen minute video be of us walking to Hank's grave? As far as respect, I've been one of the great Hank Williams' fans for years and have been to his grave twice. Apparently you haven't been there at all. Tell me who has more respect?

  • ur sick what does it matter if the drove there they got out of thier car and said there hellos if u wanna call it that and left theres nothing disrespectful bout that hell im sure ole hank would'ev done it that way

  • We did spend three hours there honoring him with people who arrived from around the country. Maybe we should have walked there all the way from Minnesota. Now that would have been respect!

  • We stopped there on the way to the 1993 Sugar Bowl. I don't even care that Florida beat the Mountaineers, because I got to do a shot with Hank at daybreak on New Year's Eve. I wanted to write a song about it and even had video of me, my nephew and Bob Burns (Skynyrd's original drummer) doing a shot and pouring Hank one, but someone stole my video camera and tapes. (If anybody has those I'd pay!) "Daybreak In Montgomery" Copyright 1992 My dad inspired me to love that man and I always will.

  • Damn, that's unfortunate.

  • It is too bad, but I think Hank had kind of gone as far as he could. He had horrible back problems and was an alcoholic and wrote an incredible amount of music even in his short life. Unlike, say Buddy Holly, who died really, before he got a chance to shine.

  • What exactly did he die of?

  • He died from a combination of drugs and alcohol while riding in the back seat of his Cadillac headed for a New Year's Eve show in Canton, Ohio.

  • wow I'm lucky cause my mom got to see Hank Sr. live and I'm jealous every day, thank you for posting

  • You are welcome and damn, I'm jealous too.

  • My dad is 79 and he got to see Hank Sr when he was in high school in 1949, He said the gig was at a movie theatre during the intermission. How cool would that be to go to a movie and see Hank Sr as the intermission entertainment? It was a lot different in 1949. God bless ya Hank.

  • hey did you know that Alan Jackson done a video there at the grave yard for Midnight in Montgomery song.Alan jackson said the video camera kept messing up and then there were white figures in the video

  • Actually, they recreated the gravesite for the video, but, yeah, there were strange happenings around the filming. That video actually inspired us to go to Hank's grave the first time in 1994. That's how the Death 2ur began and we've been going ever since.

  • thNKA

  • Awsome yah'll found Hank Williams gravesite. I really am into alot of the old country like Hank Williams,Gene Autry,Johnny Cash and some others to.

  • Looks like you have pretty good taste in music. You may be interested to know that one of our big trips early next year will be to Nashville and will include all of the country greats. We'll send out a bulletin as the time nears.

  • so where is Hank's grave layed, in what state?

  • The great Hank Williams is buried in Montgomery, Alabama.

  • Oakwood Annex Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama.

  • Thanks for this. Someday I'll make a pilgramage to this site. RIP Hank Sr. and keep it up Jr and especially Hank III!

  • Yes..thank you for posting this. i love Hank. Its a great memorial.

  • You're welcome, man. Checked out your channel and found that Hank III has his own channel. I didnt' realize that. I'm a huge fan of his. His grand daddy would be proud of him. Not such a fan of Hank, Jr., though.

  • i'd love to get down to this site sometime. chances are when it happens, i'll be drunk. his music means the world to me. it's awesome to see people sitting on the benches and spending some time with a great musician.

  • It is a hell of a time. I was drunk both times I was there. We were there each time about 3 hours and people were constantly streaming in to see old Hiram. And one time was on a Monday morning!! Thanks for the comment.

  • anytime, i appreciate what you've done... sharing this site for the people who really appreciate ol hank's music. it's almost like i know this man even though i really never will. its unfortunate. either way, he'll always be a friend of mine.

  • the man who changed country a poor man and his guitar worth millions man happy new year hank

  • I used to live right down the street from there. I would visit Hank and Audry at least once a week. Now I live on the SE side of montgomery but I still make it over there from time to time.

  • I'll be you've met alot of interesting people from around the world when you've visited old Hank.

  • Nice to see where Hank is.

As a 40 year old Scotsman, that's as close as I'm likely to get.

What a genius the man was.

  • Thanks for the comment. We are continually amazed at how people from all over the world like Hank Williams, the little boy who sold peanuts and played his guitar on the streets of Montgomery. When we visit his grave their are folks from everywhere coming to visit. Hank is truly the greatest.

  • i just recently visited his grave

nice to see other people appreciating him as much as me

    thnx for posting

    stop by anytime

    -Meaghan

  • Hey, any fan of Hank's, and Hank III's, is a friend of ours. Like your videos and favorites. We've been to Hank's grave twice and there's just nothing like spending a little time with Hiram.

  • My mom is buried in that cemetery, very close to where the video starts off..

  • Thanks for the video of Hank's grave site. Many of us would never have the chance to see it. Well cover from all different directions. Thanks again !

  • You are very welcome. If you ever get a chance to visit it is a real experience. We were there for three hours and met people from all over the country who came just to pay their respects to the great Hank Williams.

  • kinda disrespectful throwing your butt down wouldn't ya think ? i would take offense if that was my kin or anyone else for that matter !!!

  • I believe if you pay attention, nimrod, you'll see that I walked off of the gravesite.

  • that still don't make it right NIMROD. littering is littering.

  • I'll give you littering, but you insinuated that we were being disrespectful to Hank. Oh yeah...........nimrod.

  • My grandfather is buried like 20 feet from Hanks grave.

  • Wow, no shit? Can you tell me where in proximity? What direction?

  • Awsome! Not only his gravestone, but just being there! rest in peace Hank Williams, but your music is still alive...

  • Visited Hank Williams grave in 1982 in Montgomery Alabama. Loved his music and was very sad but at the same time happy that I could pay my respects.Still listen to his music most day's.

  • Nice to see were Hank was layed to rest but also sad.

    Rip Hank
