  • the sad part about this movie, is that the scenes with dagora in it are actually the end of the movie, not much monster in this one

  • Is there any mention from any source that says how big Dogora was? It appears to be at least a kilometer long, making it the largest kaiju in Toho's menagerie.

  • Dogora vs. Godzilla

Godzilla would win althgouh The big G would have a HELL of a time fighting

  • Its pretty interesting the year Dogora was made, Mothra vs Godzilla and Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster was also coming next. Not only that but all 3 movies almost have the same cast members.

  • I love the way Toho utilized music from previous films into their trailers.

  • features a stone-faced fedora and shades wearing tall guy who cracks up abruptly when he finds his haul is fake. A possible influence for Elwood Blues? see 00:23

    WTF?

  • Poor Dogora, all it ever did was eat coal. This movie scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. Always saw it in black & white. Didn't know it is in color... thanks for posting this!

  • That Japanese female beauty also appear in Woody Allen's 'What's Up, Tiger Lily.'

  • @Khultan and in "You only live twice" as Aki.

  • @joerouleau54 Ha ha ha ha.....you have good eyes for the ladies. : )

  • I thought I'd either seen or heard of every Japanese monster movie from the 60's but this is a new one on me.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Good stupid fun.

  • Very cool and different! Thanks for sharing!

  • Saw this as a teen. The gangsters were funny. The monster was strange & different from other TOHO monsters. Looks like a big jellyfish with pincers on each tentalcle. Stayed in the air and sucked up coal. Never landed, didn't roar like Godzilla or Rodan. Just made a jazzed up skipping heartbeat sound. Then the military hits it and breaks it up into little rocks that still suck up coal. The rocks eventually fall to the earth, crushes one of the goofy gansters. It was different, for sure!

  • I heard the names Godzilla and Mothra in the trailer...does anyone know why they're mentioned? I know they're all from Toho but were they trying to advertise Dogora to be right up there with those two or something?

  • @JustinThoj It's just saying this is the latest of Toho's world-famous special effects films that includes Godzilla and Mothra.

  • @tokyomons oh ok cool cool, thanks for the translation =)

  • To all the people who have asked me IF I am Robert Dunham's daughter ~ I have posted a picture of him and myself, when I was 18 months old. (Most people don't believe me, but then again ~ why would I lie?)

  • Yes, Dooby1986. He REALLY was my father. He passed away in 2001. He would have been 79 this year...

  • Aliens, monsters and gangster... what more can you want in a movie???

  • Yes, TOHOFIEND54. Robert Dunham was my father. And yes, I am Emmy (that's what people call me.) But I'm no princess ;)

  • Domo arigato, mister roboto.

  • My late father, Robert Dunham in in this trailer (second 44 of trailer). He was also in The Green Slime, Mothra, Godzilla vs. Megalon, etc. He worked for Toho Ltd. You can wikipedia his name.

  • You must be Emiko then, and princess of Seatopia ;-)

  • Wait is your father really Robert Dunham?

  • @EJade40

    your dad is Robert Dunham?

    Thats awesome!

  • Akiko Wakabayashi is in this. <3

    Need to watch it.

  • wow this looks like a badass movie

i'am a fan in 60's monster movie and this is one of them

  • Man, Dogora's even bigger than biollante!!

  • this trailer is the movie, i remember wanting to see this when i was ten in the theater as with those other godzilla movies back in the day, i missed this one, i finally got to see it via a torrent site, was i ever let down. dagora was cool, the movie is a bore fest and those scenes of dagora, well, it's the end of the movie.

  • Yeah, I was really disappointed in it too....love the music used (in the trailer at least), and Dogora itself.....but beyond that, pff.

  • Damn! That thing looks like something out of Lovecraft!

  • CTHULHU???

    XD

  • Dogora was a brilliantly realized kaiju; we just never get to see all that much of it, and at times it feels as if Dogora is a guest star in his own movie. Still, definitely a film worth tracking down.

  • Wait, wait, wait...at the end, did the guy say "Godzilla"?????

    And, it's

ATTACK OF THE GIANT FLOATING SPACE SQUIDS! AAGGGHHHH!!!!!!

  • This is my personal favorite Kaiju movie that is not godzilla. I think the narator says no since godzilla and mothra has there been such terror

  • I think it was in reference to the movies the director Ishiro Honda made in the past that were successful, like how movie advertisers say things like "From the director of (name film here) and (name film here)..."

  • Great movie! Eventually, Dogora's weakness was insect poison.

  • not just any insect poison, Wasp posion

  • That's him at :28.

  • Featured Hideyo Amamoto as a sombre, fedora and shades wearing silent guy safe cracker who says not a word til his gang realizes their heist was a failure; then he laughs like a hyena! A obvious influence on Dan Ackeroyd as Elwood Blues.

  • pretty cool whirlwind effect, for back then...awesome!

  • Dogora's sound effects are actually really effective and scary. If you listen, there's an actual beat in there!

  • I have this on DVD. It's awesome.

  • wonderful!

  • Wow mayn..that's pretty creepy

  • interesting movie, I like Dogora's design

  • one of the dark glasses wearing crooks was apparantly an inspiration for Dan Akeroyds' performance in the Blues Brothers.

  • wtf its a monster movie then a gangster movie then a monster movie make up you mind director.

  • That's why the movie, despite some really interesting scenes, many of them in this trailer, ultimately is a little disappointing. But it was a great experiment from Honda. Definitely one of his more interesting films.

  • Wow, I'm going to buy this. The effects in this look killer. Imagine if this is what the Cloverfield monster was? Man New York would be fucked! HAHA Alas...twas not and twas not good.

  • Gamera is only a giant tortoise, but Dogora is a rather convincing alien creature. And it's still more difficult to give life to a non-humanoid creature.

  • well done creatures. Probably the best japan monster special effects of ever.

  • They have a copy for rent at Vidiots in Santa Monica!! Cool movie, i watched for the first time when I was 11 back in Italy!

  • How good is this? Most of the word about this film is fairly mixed. The scenes with Dogora look cool, but most of this is supposedly a gangster comedy.

  • yes i highly recommend this film. its best to watch in the original language. the film only sucked because the company that was responsible for this film messed it up.

  • Messed it up, how? Meaning Toho with the direction or the script, the English dub, or how the U.S. distributor AIP tried to focus more on the monster story than the gangster comedy story.

  • messed up cuz they cut a lot of scenes, changed the score and the dialogue is different from the original. and in the original its a comedy between the monster and the gangsters because they have the same goal in getting the diamonds.

  • Thanks for uploading this trailr :)

  • Finally!I've been waiting along time to see a trailer for this movie. Thanks for uploading!
