Tibetans within Tibet should be able to decide their own path, with the aid of those from outside. Tibetans in-exile of course have a very important role to play in this, but they are not experiencing the on the ground circumstances. I think there are a lot of things that need discussed and you make a lot of excellent points re: fundraising etc. I also think that those of us in the West who would like to support should be able to, we should not be written off as 'hippy free Tibet' idiots.

this year china made unusually large number of territorial deals e.g. with japan (sharing gas field), Russia (island return), Vietnam (south china sea), Taiwan (trade, possible peace treaty). Hu Jintao demonstrated his willingness to make any concession including granting meetings with exile government. Regrettably, it doesnt pan out well with dalai lama, and I sense window is closing. Why? I hope Dr. Sangay can shed some lights on that. china lacks of faith????
