  • Holy shit,a version as good or better then roxy!

  • Ruth Underwood, the only female musician in the band during 30 yrs...LOL

  • @Arckitekt

Untrue, Bianca THornton was in the band for a while. Also Lisa Popeil for a brief moment.

  • @Arckitekt Unless you count the female guests: Norma Jean Bell, Bianca Odin, Irma Coffee, Joni Mitchell, Lisa Popeil, Grace Slick, Alice Stuart,

  • @reldditmot Yes...also Dale Bozzio on Thingfish & Joes Garage was great!. And Moon Z. appears on TLTSADW...

  • @reldditmot And Tina Turner Did pretty much the whole Sleep Dirt album, But Ike wouldnt let her have any credit for it....

  • @Nathalian989 Tina turner never appeared on any of the Sleep Dirt album..she actually sang backing with the Ikettes on some tracks on the album Apostrophe, Sleep Dirt was recorded mostly at Caribou Studios Colorado) and the Record Plant (LA). FZ recorded Apostrophe at Electric Lady, NYC. Paramount, Hollywood, and Bolic Studios (Inglewood) which belonged to Ike Turner, it was a spur of the moment thing..

  • @Nathalian989 Thana Harris in Sleep Dirt, not Tina

  • @Arckitekt first off Ruth was not the only female to be in Zappa's group there was Sophia Warren who played with him in the early 80's, and you can't forget about Dale Bozzio. Plus Tina Turner was never on sleep dirt you are an ass- clwon if you think that.

  • @vaborek Not strictly correct, firstly Sophia Warren was a nickname Frank gave to Warren Cucurullo, secondly Tina Turner (& The Ikettes) sang backing vocals for Over-Nite Sensation and Apostrophe albums..Hope this clears up a few errors..

  • My dad used to play this tape in the car when I was a kid. Great stuff guys!

  • lol 3:18

  • When will the ZFT release this video??? C'mon, some of us are getting old. I'd like to see all of this BEFORE I DIE!!!

  • Cool guitar solo in the middle of this clip. Typical "freak out" style. Love it.

  • dude! my dad was there that night! OMG..frank asked the crowd if anyone knew where palmdale was...and you can hear my dad say "YEAH" twice...lol..who has Village of the sun, from the Live @ the roxy night?

  • dude i just heard your dad!

  • A dad getting his daughter into zappa??

    What's happening to our society?!!

  • Tom Fowler...on bass.... Awesome!

  • At Avery Fisher Hall, NYC '73, Frank stopped Inca Roads twice because Ruth played wrong notes. His exact words "Do you want these people to think that those are the notes I wrote". Classic hilarious stage biz. Ruth insisted the tempo was too fast so he let her count it off the third time. Ahh, what memories!

  • interesting

  • I don't know how she plays that xylophone so good.

They are hard as shit to play!

One of the best bands of all time next to the Ramones!

  • Real good, again. Top Zappa!!!!

  • so ahead of his time,.............what a lovely clip with all the outtakes!.......my fav era of Frank,..love it.

    Laurie

  • by seeing you put the bits and pieces of this footage together ,i must say this is my favourite period.
