@Rorraro Thanks for the suggestion. I have now listened to 3 versions... added Ian Bostgridge...Compare again..Ainsley is 'heavy' and 'earthly' and lacks the emotion required for this song. Speaking to Angels the voice should lift also 'lift' beyond the human expression into the 'Azure plane'... Bostridge is untouchable in this version! His voice goes beyond and lifts it in the exquisite beauty it deserves... into the heavens...If I can get it uploaded I will let you know.
My favorite version of one of my favorite Handel arias. The entire record is one of my treasues.

One of the all time best offerings of this difficult aria. Lewis makes it sound easy. BTW....thank you for posting this!

Stunning!
His voice was a 'waft though the skies' ... far above the earthly plane...
His voice and the song were made for one another!
Thank you for this GEM of a post!

"...far above yon azur plain..." I checked it, cause I didn't understood it ^_^
Wonderful music, isn't it?

@ Rorraro Yes that is very beautiful and the way the words sound as well...
azur plane instead of earthly... and I truly like Lewis singing this as his voice is 'light' and he 'lifts' the sounds particularly well...

@SoulNotes1 Yes nice voice! And I encourage everyone to listen to the John Mark Ainsley's version.
