Actually the F-22's climb rate is quite a bit better than the lightning (from full stop to 35k in just over 130 seconds), and the F-15's was just as good. No disrespect to the lightning, she was a fine bird. The F-16C for example, takes 210 seconds from takeoff to mach 1.6 and 35,000 ft carring 2 AIM-9X's, 2 AIM-120C and a centerline fuel tank.

Nor did the EE Lightning have anywhere like the combat capability of the F-22. Cost of these checks and parts replacement make it so expensive per h of flight.

Amazing aspect of that Fairford takeoff. I didn't know he drifted to the right like that before his pop up. Was the crosswind that heavy, or was that by design, by the pilot?
@13craigj Ok, that made no sense. He has to "move onto the flightline? Do you know where the flightline is? He drifted over the grass BETWEEN the runway and the flightline. Over the flightline, which is full of other aircraft, is the last place he would want to pull a manouver like that!
@jonesy97 yeah the display line at fairford is slightly off to the right. every solo jet displays on this line but the shift over is just more noticeable with that kind of take off!
But the funny part of it all is that all 20 F-35 are still standing too rusty. Now they are 186 F-22 still and 20 F-35 still, all fighters are still invisible

Amazing aspect of that Fairford takeoff. I didn't know he drifted to the right like that before his pop up. Was the crosswind that heavy, or was that by design, by the pilot?

@13craigj Ok, that made no sense. He has to "move onto the flightline? Do you know where the flightline is? He drifted over the grass BETWEEN the runway and the flightline. Over the flightline, which is full of other aircraft, is the last place he would want to pull a manouver like that!

@jonesy97 yeah the display line at fairford is slightly off to the right. every solo jet displays on this line but the shift over is just more noticeable with that kind of take off!

@hawkplaya94 I heard from the pilot himself "this plane can't fly supersonic without afterburners" I know the guy well, we used to live in the same neighborhood together and when he was on leave, he would have bbq's and what not, and we talked about all sorts of stuff we weren't supposed to.

@hatakekakashi1914 well i dont know much about airplanes but i have a co worker thats Chinese and yes thats the plane he mentioned the j-20 and he said it was far more superior to this f-22 and will be produced by the thousands in China.
