  • i dident even hear him say itai... :(

  • Now my stomach hurts...

  • This is not how it worked. The Samurai who died choosed when his assistant killed him, because if he had any signs of pain, it was worthless. The head wasnt cut off, there had to be a bit of skin left.

  • @cedi3550 The head is cut off but it was done quickly and this video is very dramatized. It is a movie after all.

  • "Oish."

    *slice, blek*

    Dead

  • Seppuku is an honourable tradition that should both return and be practiced in every culture.

  • @DarthVil OK, you go first.

  • @claudelebel55 If I were ever to do something to dishonour Myself so horribly, or My family, I would hope that I'm man enough to do just that. Am I saying that I am? Quite the contrary. We've become a culture of spineless pussies, and while I wish that I could say that I'm better than this, I will not posture such. That said, I believe that it was a very good practice and that people who are failures or otherwise shameful should take their own lives.

  • @DarthVil Hi. Just want to say that I agree that honor and integrity are too often dispensed with by the majority of people but I do believe that the taking of full responsibility does not necessitate the taking of one's life. In the book Zero Limits, there is a true story about a criminal who stunned the court into respectful silence when he pleaded guilty instead of pleading temporary insanity as they had expected him to do. It is a very beautiful example of what I mean. .... continued

  • @claudelebel55 ..... this man was willing to face the consequences of his actions and in that regained his self-respect and the respect of others.

  • @claudelebel55 I think paying the debts to society is a good thing. Politicians should kill themselves more often. They say that you can't ask more than a man's life. If he gives he lifes, he gives all. So it's all settled.

  • @BrFelo To give your life does not mean to kill yourself. It means to give up your selfishness, your self-centeredness .... not an easy thing to do for most people. This is where spirituality comes in. Try reading zero limits. I'm not crazy about Joe Vitale but the teachings of Dr Hew Len are powerful ones. It is all about inner transformation.

  • @claudelebel55 "To give your life does not mean to kill yourself" I agree with that. But suicide cab ne the easiest, fastest or the only option of dignity.

It so common to see people giving their lives for their jobs, their family. And I'm not saying about being killed, i'm saying about living 30 to 70 years to something else that isn't you.

  • @BrFelo about living 30 to 70 years to something else that isn't you.- that's right but this is also ego-based and misguided - You must be true to yourself but people compromise out of fear or greed - giving your life does not mean becoming a people pleaser - it means giving your life to a higher principle, call it Truth, God, Love whatever you like. Without such clarity, whatever we do will create unecessary suffering. .

  • @claudelebel55 The thing about ego.... is your family, your loved ones, your propriety, part of you or part of something else? I think it is both, many things connects ourselves with outter world.

The hard part is something total strange... total Other, like a far-foreigner propriety, or the freedom of drug-addicts street people that lives in your own city....It needs insane clarity to see it as part of you.

  • @BrFelo I would say, there is nothing to force. Simply looking, honest looking and seing of where we are in disharmony, where we are forcing and where we are selling out either out of fear or in order to get something. Eventually all manipulation leaves you and you become simple. Check out Mooji and Adyashanti if you are interested in these kinds of things. If they don't appeal, there are many others ....

  • @claudelebel55 And there's a wonderful work of Durkheim about suicide....

  • @BrFelo Here is a wonderful dialogue on suicide you might appreciate: Adyashanti on Suicide (Audio) - on youtube. On my channel actually.

  • So this is what Gintamas Shisengumi is based of.

  • @daniel55645 well I've heard that if they were honor less and everybody hated the person, then there would be no beheading because it puts you out of the pain, so they just suffer

  • That guy really wanted to die as soon as posible :/ he was screaming "Hurry up, hurry up" but the other wait was like "Waitv*Said something* now"

  • did they always behead during seppuka.

  • @daniel55645 it was part of the ritual yes

  • @schizoidchimp i didnt know that. i was reading something about it but it didnt say anything about that part.

  • @daniel55645 I heard that you could have a close friend do the beheading during it, to spare you the painful, slow death.

  • @Kenjjii thats cool. cause that would suck to wait die from just stabbing yourself

  • That lived by a code of honor

  • You'd have to have a lot of guts to carry this ritual out inserting a tonga into the left side of your abdomen and moving it right to left sometimes upward for a quicker death. the samurai were great and brave warriors by code of honor!

  • That guy next to him is like "aaaaaawww shit.... I gotta do that too...."

  • @StuartbrownPro

Hahahahaha... Thanks for making my day.

  • i feel seppuku is a honor in its self

  • evil nihilism

  • Out of context, but say Yes to legal and painless euthanasia for the eternally mentally tormented, why should we have to go through the trauma of life with a fucked up brain and face the trauma of a painful, distressing and sordid suicide such as this? And yes i know seppuku was out of digrace as opposed to torment, tho the two can come hand in hand

  • the last samurai was Yukio Mishima, look him up..

  • He cried in pain which means he lost his honour.

  • What a pussy, Chuck Norris has done this twice and didn't even flinch.

  • this isn't "dumbassery" you fool. This came from a time and country where honor actually meant something. The amount of discipline and devotion to honor these elite warriors had to have to be called samurai is more than anything anyone will ever experience today.

  • I thought this was called senpoku not sepukku that is brutal you stab yourself in the stomach and someone cuts your head off damn

  • @wingslovedvalkria senpoku? wtf. it's seppuku you noob.

  • it says lolz on the url

  • I like how there is no blood what an anatomist

  • And 7 is getting real intense.

  • Pressing 3 = Happy samurai!

  • The Japanese used to be badass. Now they just make creepy McDonald's ads

  • @OTKSenior & we all owe it to the West

  • @OTKSenior thats because we wont let them have a military lol

  • @OTKSenior America's fault

  • 0:48 PISS

  • @ThePathular no, that shinzengumi dude said "yosh!" u know, as in "yes" or "ok"

  • @UmbraPrelaitor i think this excution is really amazing. it takes real self control to stape yourself and knowing you will die 5 seconds later. if i would be excuted for a terrible crime, i would wanna go like this

  • @MrDikkehamster That's very noble and brave of u. I, on the other hand, am too afraid to stab myself. I just got over my sudden urges to stab myself actually. (no suicidal thoughts)

  • @UmbraPrelaitor it's indeed very difficult for the mind to hurt itself, almost impossible. but i want to be executed like this ( not that i will make this happen im a good guy :) i am not suiicidal of something but if i do something teribble i have no honor.( samurai i know :P ) and theirfore i will punish myslef for it. i love the way of the samurai, the way they lived and thought.

  • @MrDikkehamster thats so stupid

  • @wendyspwnsu why am i stupid?

  • @MrDikkehamster your not... they way you admire these japs is stupid...

  • @wendyspwnsu i disagree, when you do something very bad , you should punish yourself for it

  • @MrDikkehamster Seppuku is performed to reestablish the honor lost for a failure or something similar.

While in the process of seppuku, the samurai is not allowed to flinch or cry in pain, because that would mean the loss of honor. That's why there's always a second samurai to cut his head off so the one performing the seppuku can keep his pride.

  • @VV33Dy yeah i know?

  • @MrDikkehamster sorry, replied to the wrong person ^^

  • @VV33Dy haha i thought it was weird already no problem

  • My reaction; Not good! I can't imagine the searing pain, no wonder why the

samurais are beheadded. The pain is too much to handle.

I know that most suicides, from the videos, that samurais are in pain, but the video we just sawl he's screaming in pain. Was that even allowed?

I don't agree with this form of punishment, but as a country, it has it's rituals

and their forms of martial arts are brutal. I do accept the fact that it's,

    samurai ritual

  • Anyone else notice his last word was "BITCH?"

  • Honour... Heavier than a mountain and death... Lighter than a feather.

  • @Cavelson

    You puff

  • He's doing it wrong (I know it's a movie).. A correct Seppuku is without any reaction from the person who kills herself.

  • @rysn09 Try then

  • @RafaelD1994 Don't have a reason

  • @rysn09 You have nothing better to do then flame a suicide technique on youtube, so yeah, you do have a reason to end your life.

  • @RafaelD1994 Grow up, I didn't flame anything. I just pointed out how it's done correctly/traditional.

  • @rysn09 Have you seen one yet?

  • @RafaelD1994 ..hehe how? I'm not able to travel through time, so.. I just read it on Wikipedia and I thought it might interest some people who watch this video.

  • @rysn09 If you haven't seen one yet you have no idea how people would react with a knife down their stomach.

  • which movie this clip extracted from?

  • @gongyiliao @zinpgh @Saura74 The clip is from 13 assassins. The film is Takashi Miike's greatest work if you ask me. The second half of the movie is one big fight scene.

  • fake and gay

  • @kruz200 not fake not gay.

  • @xxRiaBeautyxx well it's not actually that gay but it's 100% fake

  • @kruz200 it wouldnt be fake coz they actually do this.

  • 28 people have lost their honour

  • I watched this to death metal. I'm happy. :-3

  • japanese, chinies, thay are all stupid honestly..

  • @darockk21 you're wrong, you're the stupid one because you can't just move on. Everyone in the Earth deserve to be treated equally.

  • @darockk21 chinese, idiot.

  • You have to be pretty badass to cut your own belly open and disembowel yourself. Any person who wishes to commit suicide should feel intense pain like this before they die. Suicide shouldn't be quick and painless.

  • @aahayford

I think you're confusing badassery with dumbassery. Thank god they got rid of this stupid primitive ritual.

  • @englishhacksaw What? It's awesome.

  • @aahayford why do they have to suffer? If they wanna end their life thats not our problem.

  • @Sotasukka Yes it is, it's also the problem of all the friends and family around that person. The reason why it shouldn't be painless is because you have so many young people who make bullshit decisions to end their lives because of their current situations and not thinking about the 70-80 years they have left on this earth. Half ass decisions like those probably would be made less often if suffering was mandatory for suicide.

  • @aahayford well you may be right about youth, but if like 40 years old man wants to die after he has lost everything and his life is totally ruined... that would be acceptable

  • @Sotasukka curious how educated people still value their lifes based on such fleeting concepts like "honour" or on the amount of possessions...

  • @levilisko having honor is different from greed

  • @l3054 an it as fleeting and mundane as greed... honoured dead is still dead, you get cold and burried, it's much better for sure, but not worth your life, it's just a mean for one to control the lives of others...

  • @levilisko im gonna die your gonna die so is everyone in the comments and everyone on the planet id rather go out fighting and die with honor than die as an old man shitting my pants

  • @l3054 well , that my friend is a ancient concept in my opinion, we are not in feudal japan, i'd rather live 100 years and die shitting my pants around my loving family then die at 30 with honor in some random battle for god knows what "important" thing...

also how is killing yourself honorable? i mean its the fastest way of escaping your problems, no matter how much pain someone inflicts on himself

  • @levilisko if youve ever known any fighters who lost a fight you could see the shame they suffered ive fought and won and lost sometimes and ive known the shame when battles are life and death you put your life on the line as long as people exist there will always be wars id rather it be warriors with honor than fat old politicians sitting in an armchair pressing a nuke button that idea is very scary when samurai commit seppuku its because honor is everything to them and the code they live their

  • @levilisko lives by when they are shamed in battle and have no ways of redeeming their honour they cant live with the shame most people today would never understand theyre happy with complacency and green paper

  • @levilisko also we dont all have or want loving families the worlds already overpopulated anyways and were running out of resources if anything we need more wars and disease to avoid mass starvation the point is that a warriors pride and dignity is the only way they know or want to live ive already said but most people would never understand martial arts and bushido arent for everybody only a few out there are of the right cut

  • @levilisko

the thing is we are biologically not build to live this long

we artificially almost trippled our lifetime

when you are that old you wont be able to even eat, wash yourself,or take a shit without help

your loving ones will not be happy to see you in this condition and you wont be able to do anything other then lie in a bed and watch tv

i wouldt want to die in a battle for any authorities either, but neither would i want to live so long that living itself becomes painful

  • @ThePoorShogun say that when you're 65.

  • @ThePoorShogun people have lived to 60 since hunting and gathering days. The only reason that average lifespans were so short were because they had to factor in the deaths related to childbirth. (of the infant and the mother) There are people that are 70+ years old, but still in great mental and physical health. Good habits will lead to good health later on in life.

  • did you know: samurai had those stupid haircuts so they could keep their helmets on better? wakka wakka

  • @Astronopolis no way!

  • He heard a Justin Beiber song XD

  • guys this is not cruel burning innocent women now that was cruel...no one was forced to do harakiri it was just a way to die with your honor intact if you didnt want to do harakiri you didnt have to but you lost your honor

  • Damals wurde Ehre noch groß geschrieben.

  • Ususally, samurai who disobeyed their master, or went against their clan lost their honour, and to regain their honour, they performed Seppuku, inwhich they stab themselves in the stomach, one of the most painful places, being decapitated obviously helped you die quicker and got rid of the pain for you, the man in this video obviously was disliked by his clan and they wanted him to go through pain for his clan, so they didnt decapitate him immediatley.

  • @jumbodavejimbo how cruel

  • @DarkprinX2500 How is it cruel?

  • lol people are 'defending' seppeku, whatever that means?

The history of shinsengumi shows exactly what is wrong with seppeku. Not to mention that more modern units like the Kiheitai were superior exactly because they were more modern.

  • I forgot what was the reason of this, I know it is trying to regain honor but I forgot like what was the reasons for losing the honor.

  • @fastitslol Being a pussy.

Sorry for being offensive, but that should sum it up.

    See MrKra7as's comment.

  • the idea of honorable death is not immediately obvious for men of today. e.g., suppose you, samurai refuse seppuku. what shall become of your vassals, clan, son and heir then? they all would be punished or killed by your enemies. seppuku retrieves your honor and protects your family by taking all responsibility. suicides just give up their social duty, but samurai who did this performed his duty.

  • Cmon, fake much. Wanna see them making Harakiri like Yoshimitsu (Teken) Do, with a BIG ASS katana lol.

  • wow.

This has GOT to be painful.

    It looks fake.

  • @TheCassie2244 Of course it is fake...it looks to be part of a movie, or a film about Japanese culture, but that doesn't mean that these rituals didn't actually happen.

  • this is not an honorable way to die. it shows that you love your country but there are better ways to make up for your betrayal or cowardice in battle.

  • Comment removed

  • suicide and seppuku are both stupid.... samurai were stupid... robbers rapists.. killers.. their code of honor is a big joke...

  • @DarkprinX2500 im a caucasian born american and totally disagree. samurai first started as mercenaries but changed overtime. only the weak minded cant understand this. most modern people are weak also. they cant even kill a rabbit without feeling sad or not doing it at all. humans are predators time to get over it. also people who insult seppuku are cowards and cant actually do this themselves, your comments show you are a weak human being wich should have been cut from your mothers womb at birth

  • @ApprenticeOfAnubis you expect me to accept this whole idea of this invisible honor.. and killing yourself to redeem it.. it's suicide in my book... anyone who would push someone to kill themselves because they believe they "dishonored" themselves or their family , or their master or whatever.. is even worse.. their murderers in my opinion.... and should be forced to kill themselves too.. i don''t care about this honor nonsense..

  • @DarkprinX2500

You're not supposed to accept or even understand this kind of 'invisible honor', it's not around anymore! At least not in western countries. Back in the old days in east Asia status and honor meant EVERYTHING. Of course it's not going to make sense by today's standards, what the hell do you expect?

  • @ApprenticeOfAnubis haha .. personal insults.. great. ^^

  • @ApprenticeOfAnubis im sorry , but this is barbaric.. the samurai were more like gangsters than anything else.. making this guy disembowel himself and twist the blade too.. and then on top of that .. making him seffer a little before actually decapitating him.. i don't care about their reasons or justifications.. that's cruel .. i think that it's pathetic that you defend it.. .im glad the Japanese have moved past this.. you should be too.. life is a gift..

  • @DarkprinX2500 I am a humble person but I do have pride in my way of life and beliefs ,and I reply with Anger because you insulted my Honor by posting dumb comments. to not respond would to further dishonor myself and beliefs well anyway. have fun posting shit on youtube. its easy for people like you to do such things when you dont actually have to face people in person.

  • wierd japanese custom.. they feel like they have shamed their families dishonor...lol.. this is somethin that needs to leave their culture..

  • From wich film is this sean from?

  • @Saura74 Who's Sean?

  • @mobspeak

Sorry i mean the seppuko clip from what film it is?

  • 切腹?

    かなり、いたいよ。

    切り方によっちゃ、腸がこぼれるし。

    でも名誉ある、処刑方法。

  • Comment removed

  • Wasn't it also considered honourable to twist the blade in the wound?

  • Seppuku is in some ways honorable and other ways Dishonourable.

Samurai commited Seppuku if one: they disobayed/ shamed their lord/master. this was because they were being dishonourable to their master.

two: to avoid being captured and tortured, and being tortured usually goes hand in hand with something called interrogation. in other words they die with their information so others cannot take it from them.

    Savvy?

  • @sunnykwon0112 Actually it is honorable both times because it is easily one of the most painful ways to QUICKLY die by a short sword. Unless... you know, you can actually gather the balls to cut into your stomach, bring the blade around for a quick "twistaroo" and be done with it.

  • @sunnykwon0112 actually is becuse for a samurai accepting defeat and capture by itself was a dishonour it meant they had failed their master in battle and for so they considered seppuku to recover the honor, but what u say about torture and letting out information allso makes allot of sence

  • Too bad this video ends in the middle of beheading...

  • Japanese way of pressing Alt+F4 when you're running Life.exe

  • lol that guy is shitting himself

  • Yush!

  • There is also seppuku for females. Instead of big cuts in the abdomen, the female kneels down and stabs herself in the throat, but her knees are tied together to stop her from thrashing around ( because it is thought of as dishonorable. There is no need for de- capitation because death is quick.

  • Did you know that hara- Kari and seppuku are two different things? Hara- Kari is two long left to right cuts, and seppuku is one left to right cut and then up. The de- capitation is just to put the shamed person out of their misery.

  • @BIBbib123456 what is hara-kari?

  • @BIBbib123456 Seppuku and harakiri are the same thing. Harakiri is in spoken form while seppuku is in written form.

  • @tjc197

  • @tjc197

  • JAPANESE STEROTYPE :3

  • Well, if todays industry and bank leader would commit Seppuku it would show that they feel some resposibilty for their actions and forthermore give the impression that it should be that way BUT all that happens if some bank dude fucks up 10 Billion Dollar and therewith destroys countless families is that he gets his fee and moves to another employer. Awsome times. :)

  • hooray for retarded traditions

  • Oh I get it, because sonys e3 will be so horrible we will kill ourselves....bf3 nuff said

  • @vandalizer32 Does not understand if stupid or joke. fry.jpg

  • @Einchy1 just get the fuck out

  • Sony execs should do this at E3, this year

  • DID HE DIED

  • So this is the video of Sony's Top Executive after they got hacked??

  • Hooray!

    Internet arguments!

  • @TheBehattedOne YAY !!!! ^^

  • Arguing that it's just "what they used to do" and that we can't judge it with our western perception of the world is ludicrous. People all over the world used to do barbaric shit and so did Japan. Suppuku isn't something we should, even in retrospective, accept.

  • @TheSpaghettus It isn't something you "accept" in retrospect. You're using presentism to apply modern ethics and morals to history. This is not something you should do. Look up the fallacy of nunc pro tunc.

  • @dcook32p Why not? I am somewhat familiar with ancient Japanese customs but that doesn't mean I agree with them. My point is that people in this comment feed argue that we, as modern westerners, can't "understand" the reasoning behind an action like that and therefore criticize it, because of it. Burning "witches" was stupid, killing non-believers was stupid, Seppuku was stupid. Instead of defending it we should just be happy that humanity learned and moved on from that.

  • @TheSpaghettus Burning witches and killing non-believers were stupid because they were based on irrational beliefs about the physical world.

Suicide isn't necessarily based on superstition. I don't admire the strict heirarchy of Japanese culture or some other aspects of their social structure. I can see how in certain contexts the concept of painful suicide as a demonstration of regret or a means of demonstrating responsibility could embody admirable traits.

  • Why is suicide a "stupid" idea and why are you happy that "humanity moved on from that"? I think that suicide is honourable in some circumstances and everything but stupid. Humanity is more stupid nowadays than ever before. Especially our Western society which is nothing more than a pile of shit.

  • @TheSpaghettus highly disagree. it should be used today I think I am born californian from the USA. italian / german ancestry. People who cannot understand this or people who are weak cannot grasp it its that simple like you said above. its easy to get cut down by an apponent in battle but to cut your own belly yourself and pull the blade in different motions takes courage beyond alot of people today. you may think its dumb , but the modern world is becoming weak, few men actually exist anymore

  • @TheSpaghettus people totally still do it, a suprising amount. and i personnally think it's pretty badass.

  • @TheSpaghettus I don't nessisaraly agree with that... some people in this world really need to just, you know die.

  • It is evident that the guys that criticize seppuku don't understand the japanese ancient way of life... We cannot judge something from our Western point of view, it's just pointless... If you call this a crime, a coward action or a stupidity, then you should avoid showing your ignorance and try to read...

  • @gothicdan Totally. Just like we can't judge Saudi Arabia and it's oppression of women, I mean let's not have a narrow Western point of view, amirite?

There are plenty of traps when you rigidly allow and accept cultural relativist thinking.

  • Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw. Had two big horns and a wooly jaw. hari kari, hari kari hari kari, hari kari, hari kari. Hatty told Matty, "Let's don't take no chance. Let's not be L-seven, come and learn to dance." hari kari, hari kari, hari kari, hari kari, hari kari. Matty told Hatty, "That's the thing to do. Get you someone really to pull the wool with you." hari kari, hari kari. hari kari, hari kari, hari kari.
  • Stupid Japs, always slicing each other up.

  • @purpleminnow way to generalise a population of around 120 million people you asswipe

  • i would have been scary, if i had slipped a knife and failed it.

  • I know what seppuku is about, but I think it is uncalled for. Why don't they have them do trials to regain their honor instead of commiting suicide?

  • @HaloElitesrule thats the point idiot you can't regain honor
