wow..there are so many people in the hair salon i go to without edges and they still get relaxers.. I get confused b/c i'm like do you see what your doing to your hair..and how do you think you got there..its that creamy crack that is sweeping the nation!!.
I feel ur pain as to why u went natural. A similar thing happened to me and even tho my scalo was as severe, I literally had only a couple of centimeters of hair in one section of my head. I was so embarrassed and I felt so sad. So when I decided to go natural it wasnt so much about the process of liking my natural hair, but rather giving my hair a break and once I found out how much it could grow and how thick it was I realized I didnt need all that extra junk. I am sorry but when I was watching the video to me I think is the perm, but pray about it so that you can fully understand what is the benefit of been completely natural. Not only for hair but everything else. Hair, no make-up, eating health is also important, getting closer to God will also guiding you what's good and what's not good. Thanks ladies for all the support.i still dont have a cam at the moment :( but i do have an update i learned from my health specialist that i have severe anemia,iron deficiency and a vitamin D deficiency that has aided in the loss of my sides i was loosing the top recenly but the meds and my hair regimen .and prayer has worked another miracle my top was bald like the sides but once again is been defeated.
Just wanted to let you know that I received my shipment of sulu oil. Needless to say I am excited but at the same time a little nervous because I am preparing for my big chop. I currently have locs down my back but what's the use of sporting long locs if my edges are shot. So I am going to cut them off and prepare for my regrowth. I was so inspired by your blog that I made the purchase and cant wait to start. Will keep you posted. Thanks again for sharing your story.

@thisheadofmine when i was at home i wore it as it was but when i went out id uy like those wide cotton head bands and wear those you couldn't see it but after a while it didn't matter to me im proud till this day second bc done in October and hair is really grown again to the length it was before..

@ambxbee Poor thing, I know what that's like I've been natural for 4 years now and there is still just a little bit as far as I can see that's still missing on my left side but others may not notice it unless I say something about it. I've heard of products that's supposed to fix that but if they can't then I am at least greatful that some of it grew back.

your video was great. i also have very thin edges, since i decided to natural they seem to be growing slowly, i try to do protective styles that cover them so i can keep them moisterized.
@blwrmw i tried protective styles such as half wigs but i noticed it didnt help it was a strain on my edges so i stopped i just word headbands until it grew back..

nice. my hair is like this also and has been for nearly 11 years. I was 12 when i started noticing it. I really dont think it can no longer be helped ive tried thinning hair balms and stimulating oils. nothing works im going to try to see a dermatologist now as a last resort. After that im just going to call it quits. I think its permanent damage but i wouldn't know. It just seems your hair just grew with no problem lol

yes it does my hair texture was thin the sides some spots had no hair i did seek professional help and was told hair wouldnt grow in those spots but i had faith and did what i had to do and proved them wrong...@mmaham90

Please understand this journey is NOT for those of us with Kinky Coarse hair. After 6 months and over $400 spent on Natural Hair Products we had to back to relaxers . Those Natural Hair products are better suited for Mixed Race Sisters! If your not of mixed heritage this transition will be painfully slow! For Dark Skin Sisters like myself and my Daughter it takes years to grow long natural hair. Thanks for giving me renewed hope:).

im a guy and im want to get the Maxwell/Corbin Bleu/Lenny Kravitsz type of hair im at three inches now, how long do you think it will take for my hair to grow to about 6-7 inches
Hi depends on how fast your hair grows to me about 4 1/2 months to grow 3 inches id say give it at-least 10 months with proper care.... as the normal rate for hair is 6 inches every year....
I have had the issue with the sides for all my life. There is no hair follicles in there. But as I started going natural the edges have grown and gotten thicker. I am hoping that the insides, one day, will start to grow in. It give me hope to see that I am not the only one that had or has this issues to deal with.
what is MTG? Having problems with my sides and nape. Hair has not grown there in years. However it will grow in the crown. I have been doing the "big chop" for years. I will take a shaver to hair without second thougt. The problem is: I have to always shave my hair because of the sides and nape. what is your routine to regrow.

I must say I am very proud of you because of your courage to share your story. I've been waiting on a story like this where people have been going bald like me and went natural. I was loosing my hair in the same to spots. Even though it wasn't as much it was getting there fast plus it was breaking at the ends. This little girl at my church asked did you cut your hair this week cause it's shorter and I said no because I knew it was breaking off real bad . THANX for more inspiration :)

@ambxbee Poor thing, I know what that's like I've been natural for 4 years now and there is still just a little bit as far as I can see that's still missing on my left side but others may not notice it unless I say something about it. I've heard of products that's supposed to fix that but if they can't then I am at least greatful that some of it grew back.

Your hair looks great! I have hair loss, worse than that I would like to say, from alopecia, so I've decided to do the transition, which I began May 2009, hopefully mine will grow as well as yours, I plan on getting the rest of my relaxed ends chopped next May on my 2years Napp-iversary

Girl, thanks God for woman like you to tell women like me with the same problem what we could do. My sides above my ear are bald and I have tried aloe vera or castor oil which was recommended by another youtuber. Very slow process. Its starting to grow but it is taking soooo long. nice. my hair is like this also and has been for nearly 11 years. I was 12 when i started noticing it. I really dont think it can no longer be helped ive tried thinning hair balms and stimulating oils. nothing works im going to try to see a dermatologist now as a last resort. After that im just going to call it quits. I think its permanent damage but i wouldn't know. It just seems your hair just grew with no problem lol

@studtimmie Vinegar removes scaly build-up and residue from hair shafts and closes the cuticles. Since residue coats the hair causing it to look dull, removing residue gives your hair more shine. By closing the cuticles, the hair slides more easily and there will be fewer tangles. Vinegar has a tonic action that promotes blood circulation in the small capillaries that irrigate the skin.

yes it does my hair texture was thin the sides some spots had no hair i did seek professional help and was told hair wouldnt grow in those spots but i had faith and did what i had to do and proved them wrong...@mmaham90

Please understand this journey is NOT for those of us with Kinky Coarse hair. After 6 months and over $400 spent on Natural Hair Products we had to back to relaxers . Those Natural Hair products are better suited for Mixed Race Sisters! If your not of mixed heritage this transition will be painfully slow! For Dark Skin Sisters like myself and my Daughter it takes years to grow long natural hair. Thanks for giving me renewed hope:).

Hi depends on how fast your hair grows to me about 4 1/2 months to grow 3 inches id say give it at-least 10 months with proper care.... as the normal rate for hair is 6 inches every year....

I have had the issue with the sides for all my life. There is no hair follicles in there. But as I started going natural the edges have grown and gotten thicker. I am hoping that the insides, one day, will start to grow in. It give me hope to see that I am not the only one that had or has this issues to deal with.

what is MTG? Having problems with my sides and nape. Hair has not grown there in years. However it will grow in the crown. I have been doing the "big chop" for years. I will take a shaver to hair without second thougt. The problem is: I have to always shave my hair because of the sides and nape. what is your routine to regrow.
