  • Oh,and I just made and ate this. It was delicious! I did not have sesame oil, so I used black sesame oil. The black sesame oil really made a difference with the soup. THANK YOU!

    :)

  • If you put rice noodles in it, would it taste the same? Please answer.

  • Yummm :) Going to try it this way.

  • I would nix the tomatoe, personally. But otherwise, it look devine. :) I'll defientely try it.

  • I think it would be gross with tomato. :(

    But, it looks good regardless.

    I'll give it a swing.

  • oishii desu...

  • Wow you poured that egg like a PRO! :D

  • @Dogloverzrule No he did not pronounce tomato wrong. The world extends beyond America ok...not everyone who speaks English says Toe-may-toe

  • perfect!

  • i made egg drop chicken vermicelli soup! hehehe. super tasty and another way to eat instant noodles :)

  • @1:33

are we supposed to pour the egg in while its boiling? or is that after the water has already been boiled?...I'm a bit confused, do we add the corn starch during the boiling process, or afterwards?...and what seating must the cooker be set at while boiling? Low, Med or High?

  • thanks runny, I tried it and it tastes good.

  • Looks very delicious thank you.

  • 非常に良い! Gee, I don't really speak Japanese but I wanted to tell you how wonderful this soup is. I made it in a few minutes for my lunch and it was soooooooooooooooo good!

  • That looks good! I'm going to make some xD

    どうもありがとう

  • mines didn't thicken, i tried adding two more tablespoons of corn starch and it still didn't thicken!

  • @pakchan10 I've had egg and tomato soup at resturants and it's very thin! the "thick" part is the yummy egg and tomatoes. the watery part is very watery.

  • Damn Runny, I know what I'm gonna make after my wake and bake tomorrow!

  • Just tried this one out with some diced mesquite chicken, and it worked very well , THANK YOU for posting it.

  • "Bcause it looks good" XD LMAO

  • Love your shirt!

  • That looks good, I will make some. Thanks!

  • hey runny how come my egg drop soup color is not the same as yours? I sit because of the egg difference?

  • I made this for a snack and added fish sauce... It was AMAZING! (I didn't have sesame oil, my roommate used it up)

  • runnyrunny i just made this soup about 10 minutes agoXD and i aded ham i tastes really good you should try it (^-^) いただきます!!!

  • Try the recipe by putting the egg last and when you add the egg turn off the fire. The egg will be more silky.

  • I made it with beaten eggs, water, salt, soy sauce, corn starch, sesame oil and tomatoes. It tasted awesome!!!So easy, and I'm going to do this again! (Kind of like a yummy diet food :P)

  • where do you get mentsuyu?

  • @blakepeary i buy it in my local tesco (UK)

i also found it a lot in other stores in my town, look for asian section of your supermarket!

  • @blakepeary lol you get stuff at a japanese store.

  • Youngkoolness, "kudasai" means "please"

  • Wooooowwwww it's reaaallly easy to make...... NOT.... I suck at cooking'. I think i prefer baking (thats so mush easier)

Ps: Great job, i think it looked really good... I wish i could taste it hehe but yeah like i said i suck at cooking :)

  • oh cool I know how to make that is easy thanks

  • whats mean thes word "kudasai"?

  • I'm excited to try this - I'm going to sautee some finely diced onion, garlic, and carrot, then add it to the broth once the egg is cooked. Maybe some tofu, too.

  • That looked incredibly easy and tasty too! (Love the T-shirt)

  • Thanks runnyrunny999... coming into a cold winter down here in Australia, and this is the perfect, quick and easy, and uber-delicious soup recipe to create instant comfort food. Keep the recipes coming!!!

  • Your future partner would be so lucky!

  • I WANT YOUTUBE BACKTHE WAY IT WAS WITHOUT THE FREAKING COMMERCIALS. PASS IT ON, EVERYONE!!!!

  • what does the corn/potato starch do? I never use it, so I always have to go out and get some :[

  • @Moonbabe1989 It makes the soup a little bit thicker.

  • @Moonbabe1989 I'm pretty sure it thickens up the broth. Without it, you would have normal soup broth - watery. But part of the reason egg drop soup is so good is because it has a slight thickness to it, reminiscent of egg yolk. :)

  • @ZoeyKoKo Oh okay, i just wanted to make sure it wasnt adding any kind of flavor. Its more of a texture thing. Thanks :)

  • @Moonbabe1989 it thickens the soup! :)

  • @Moonbabe1989 I think it just thickens the soup.

  • @maize thanks!! Going try suggestion :)

  • I made this but it did not look like yours :/ the egg was clumpy

  • @1msbeanpie

egg will be clumpy if you did not separate into little drops like runny did. having a hot fire doesnt help as well.

another way to make egg look that way is cook soup with your ingredients all in, bring it to a boil, turn off the fire, and immediately add the egg in while stirring continuously. the egg will then turn out smooth and in strips. hope that helps :D

  • @maizie That's the way I've always done it, yet it never turns out the same way as it does in restaurants. It pretty much turns into tiny tiny little clumps and strings. :( Maybe I'm still doing it wrong... hmm

  • @ZoeyKoKo

    hmm o.O

use chilled eggs? it does turn into strings though. use lower fire power? did you remember to thicken the soup before putting egg in? also clumps do happen.. dont need to beat yourself up over it! so long as it tastes good ^^

  • @maizie I actually have used chilled eggs, however I was following a different recipe that said to boil the water, then turn the fire off and immediately drop the eggs in slowly while stirring. Perhaps that was the problem.

But following what this guy does in this video, it turned out perfectly! Looks just like in the restaurants now (only with more delicious garlic ;D )

  • thank you sir!

  • Going to try this out :). Every other video has "restaurant-like" eggdrop soup which is NOTHING like what restaurants serve.. they all have really thin shredded eggs, but this is more chunky similar to what restaurants serve as well as a darker color and not a whitish yellow like I kept getting following others. Hopefully I get good results :)

  • i LOVE ALL YOUR MEALS XXX

  • 1:35 That's what she said! :P Juvenile, i know..i'm sorry :P

  • just made this, mines came out a little salty but still was good

  • can you make this without the tomatoes? my fiancee and I both dont like tomatoes but everything else looks great.

  • @ProgramAura The tomatoes looked more like a garnish to me. What do you think?

  • @impendingrapture i really hope so, cause as i've said before niether me nor my fiancee like tomatoes. :(

  • Add a little water or a little chicken soup to the egg while you are beating it. I find it easier to drop it that way and it will look more stringy or however you wanna call it, like you see at restaurants XD.

  • Hi. I enjoyed the video and recipe. Looks really good!

  • good great i made it without ginger added ramem and still great :D tastes better than nh chinese japanese places i loveeeeeeeeeeeee u hehe

  • ginger juice? Is that needed? I don't think we have any ginger juice in my area >.<

  • About to make this with my mothers Tibetan dumplings, thank you!

  • hey runny,

will you be my husband or personal chief?

    that would be really cool

  • I can't get the egg to look as pretty as you did! :( Mine comes out too yellow.

  • Heyyyy! I'm loving your channel :D

  • i love the background song whats it called??

  • thanks for the post....always wanted to learn that.....i like the drizzle method....thumbs up

  • Thank you for taking the time! I never knew how simple it was!

  • How do i get Ginger Juice, do i have to beat up a Ginger for his/her blood? D:

  • Never had it with tomato in it, but that looks lovely. I couldn't figure out why mine didn't thicken up like how restaurants have it. I didn't know starch when in it!

  • What exactly does the starch do? I'm thinking about making it but I'm wondering if I'm able to skip on the starch.

  • @ZukeyTheFurry The starch thickens the soup, so its not just broth with egg in it.

  • That looks so good, thanks for sharing :)

  • Seems very easy to do. Dang it also looks good too!! thanks!!!

  • thanks i made this it came out so good

  • finally i know how to make it i thought it was more difficult

This is similar to egg and tomato soup that Vietnamese families usuallu\y have in our meal, but we cook it simplier, oly hot water with sliced tomatoes, beten egg and spice with chili powder, dried shrimp... yeah, it's always delicious, we also add pork or beef to make it more healthy for kids. • Runnyrunny That looks so good. It has been about 13 years since I had really good Egg drop soup and the funny thing is it was my friends filipino mom who made it so I guess it really can be made anyway you like. I miss good asian food like I could get in other areas. I think food is the thing I am most looking forward to when I can get to Japan. great video

  • @crazyzee81

There are so many different kinds of foods which you can get in Japan. Even Japanized Italian dish. We like make international dishes Japanized :) It'd be great time for you :)

  • @runnyrunny999 I can see the similarities with chinese cuisine kind. Its kind of the same process of how chinese people make hot and sour soup or chinese chicken soup.

  • @NattHrafn

This is Chinese. But everyone has different method :)

  • @runnyrunny999

is there anything you caould put besides tomato?

  • this is similar to hot sour soup with egg drop in china, but the vegetables tomato is stewed slightly before adding egg at end. Good Japanese modification...

  • I tried to do eggdrop soup by just pouring the egg slowly but that didn't turn out as good as I hoped. Now I'll try with chopsticks. Thank you.

  • can i come too...

  • yummmmmmmmy!
