  • Wonderful work, Klaatubes. After watching this film and this wonderful video you made, I feel that there is an illusion of kind hearted Dorothy behind every man's loving heart. But we don't seem to realize it, because of our own sad and confused circumstances.

  • Great video and music :)

  • damn i love this movie

  • this movie was how i learnt about what a dear john letter was.

  • Left a lump in my throat. Guess I should go hug my wife now.

  • i had a similar experience in 1982. just finished high school; and, was headed to university. i was 18; she was 26. i loved her so; but she left. i sometimes ponder the possibilities. Oh to be a teenager again! what's the old adage? Oh, ignorance is bliss.

  • Thanks for posting. I couldn't find the original music before youtube.

  • Thank you! brings back chills of memories in my own life, but I don't think I ever knew the story line of this movie.

  • RIP Robert Mulligan

  • beautiful mix

  • Dude, I feel really sorry for Dorothy when she drops the bags, Hermie is so sweet and such a gentleman...

  • thank you

  • Such lovely music, I don't think I ever saw this movie, quite the May-December romance, isn't it? Well, he's certainly smitten with beautiful Jen O'Neill. What ever happened to Gary Grimes? This lovely video certainly tells the story, of this boy's 'coming of age' summer I'm sure. Very sad ending to this.

  • @Voyagersguidebook It certainly is beautiful music, and a wonderful movie based on the true experiences of Herman Raucher when he visited Nantucket Island in 1942.

If you google "Ask AP Gary Grimes" you'll find a recent article on him. He quit acting in the 1970s.

  • @lumabi25 Thanks for the information! :)

  • Michel Legrand's compositions for film are always good. Great job of putting this together *****
