Parkour is about efficency of movement, being able to get from one place to another with ease in a short a time as possible, with a strong ethos of non-competition...

Free running is basically gymnastics performed outdoors with the intention of doing some awesome fucking tricks and well, not so much running =)

I agree that freeruning is very similar to gymnastics because of those flips (Damien Walters is a good example). Parkour is totally different, no flips for showing off, just afluent movement from A to B and strength of your body and mind, that helps you to overcome the hardest physical and mental trials in your life.
