my son was born at 28 weeks. I also had gestational diabeties. My sugar were under control. until one day i started to bleed. i was seen by my doctor and put on bed rest. I was told it was old blood and to bed rest so i did. Until 3 days after i started to bleed more and have contraction. my son was born weigthing 2 pounds. he stayed in the hospital for several weeks and all of this was due to my diabeties. for every women who has gestation diabeties take care of yourself
I am on my boyfriends account but I just wanted to say he is absolutely beautiful and it's good you are raising awareness bc sometimes people needy hear it from actual people who have gone through it rather then just healthcare professionals. But Asher is a trooper and god bless him and the rest of your family!
wat a gorguas boy congrad....im having im baby boy harley soon im 35 and a half weeks preg now all the best to you...o and he was so big for 4 weeks early but so cute
I underestand that I am gestational diabetic at week 31 today! I cried alot and I scared.they told me that I can control it with diet. I saw your video..how you could not control it? why thy don't use insulin for you if you could not control with diet? can you please answer me ....this is my first pregnancy and I really scared. thanks and I have best wishes for your adorable son.
My blood sugars were "well controlled" I checked my blood sugars 4 times per day and used glucophage and diet. My blood sugar readings were usually only slightly elevated at about 110. It wasn't high enough to require insulin injections and I maintained a diabetic diet. What happened to Asher is a RARE occurence, but I just wanted to raise awareness of the seriousness of this disease because I know many moms who don't follow their diet or take their meds because they don't know. God Bless!
Thanks god that your baby is healthy now. I am controlling now and I try to keep my blood suger under 110 as you said. doctor said it should be less than 120. any way thanks for your response and I need your pray friend.
great song. i listen to it every morniong in memory of all those who have passed on from neuroblastoma and ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma and those like me withTYPE ONE diabetes. he so beutiful a fighter oh and same date of birth he is a capricaorn! he has a strong chance live strong
Asher was born prematurely, he was macrasomic (which just means Large For Gestational Age) because I developed gestational diabetes in my pregnancy. His lung ruptured after birth which required him to remain on life support for a couple of weeks while he healed and his lungs matured. He now has chronic lung disease because of scar tissue in his lungs and required 4 medications daily to stay well, but we are so blessed that he is such a fighter.
He truly is a blessed, miracle, God has a very special purpose for your son to continue to touch hearts on earth. I can see why Asehr is a very special name people use for there babies. A while back I saw the website of this baby girl Asher Rose who is now touching hearts in Heaven and has forever touched the hearts of her family and friends
What a fighter! This video is so humbling, I CANNOT BEGIN to imagine how it felt in those early days watching that little angel fight! I'm SO happy to hear he's doing much better! Next time I'm upset at my babies I'll try to remember this video and remind myself how blessed we are!
GOD BLESS!! And thanks for having the courage to share!
Your son is gorgeous. I have had 2 rapid 1 hour and 30 mins births with baby 1 and 2. My sil has type 1 diabetes and has 1 healthy baby girl born by a little earlier by c-section. Because her baby girl was breech. Even my sisters baby was born by c-section because she was breechh Jade my sisters baby is ann ivf baby. Every baby is a miracle :)
i thank you from the bottom of my heart. it is because i am pregnant in week 32 with gestational diabetes. by reading your story i JUST realized how serious this can be. i wish you and your family all the joy of the world.
Thanks for raising awareness about Gestational Diabetes. I also had GD with 3 of my 5 babies. They are totally healthy children now but were big babies - last one was - 10 pounds 2 oz. I loved your music choice of "Mercy Me - I can only Imagine". God is good. Bless you.
He is a gorgeous baby.... I am in Nursing School and we showed your video in class to about 75+ students during a presentation on gestational diabetes. Thank you for making this video in an effort to better educate others.
I'm so glad your little boy is okay, I had gestational diabetes in my third pregnancy which was uncontrolled until delivery, they were prepared for the worst but thankfully my daughter was fine until watching your vid I never actually knew how bad GD babies could be, poor little thing!
I can totally understand how you felt, and cried as I watched this. My son, now 2 was in icu for 8 days, for the same reason. Ian is completely healthy now.
I have a little man named asher too! He was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months after being born a premie. He is now 2 and very healthy and happy. It's amazing how strong our little guys are!
this made me cry....my cousin had many complications when he was born, and he was on a ventilator and stuff for about a month... but he's one healthy baby now! but yeah, i am so glad your son is doing so much better!
God Bless you! I hope everything is good for this baby, he is very adorible. Our baby died from heart failer, and they never found out the cause. I am very happy that Asher made it!!
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart breaks for you. You have one special angel looking out for you all the days of your life. God Bless and thank you for sharing.
youre story made me cry and remember when i had my 2nd son. he came at 36wks, had breathing distress, was in scbu for 8hrs. it was upsetting not having him with me in my room, i stayed with him constantly stroking his hands and kissing him. he is 6 now and very clever, he is my meant to be "dilly lee". reading youre story tells me how much you and youre family went through, and god answered youre prayers. Asher is lovely, godbless you all.
This brougth tears to my eyes! My son was born at 36 weeks. HE ended up in the NICU at another hospital hours away on life support also. But luckly only for 5 days, my husband had just made it home from IRaq the day he got off life support and onto the CPAP. We sent for him though the red cross. ANd we were very blessed that he got to come home at 9 days. They still do not know why he was born so early. I hope all is going well with you and your family. Cassandra
then you truly understand the greatest joy and sorrow at the same time. I hold a special place for Mom's of NICU babies because I know how tormenting it is. You want so badly to be happy, but your heart breaks as you watch your precious baby struggle to live. God is great! Thank you for sharing your story. God Bless!
hi. i was born dying cuz my heart stopped and i had 2 get open-heart surgery at 2 days old. Just like me, this baby is lucky to b alive still. Its a miracle.

I have type 1 diabetes, so I can imagine what you went through. My friend's aunt got
gestational diabetes, but she didn't know. Her baby was born at 15 pounds, and died shortly after from insulin shock. =[
I am so glad that your baby survived, though. God Bless!
