Glad to see that Joel and his group have forced Coca-Cola of Argentina against the wall on this. Lookeing at their video, it's obvious that they copied it. Woo-yay!
I wouldn´t be so pissed at cocacola, but more with the little son of a bitch from the ad agency who actually went and pitched the idead with a straight face.... i hope he gets fired...at least it´s on his conscience...
Yes, the campaign is from Mother, but I have to admit thats its a funny thing to see. And yes, we are great CREATIVES, but we are the most fucking HORRIBLE human being.Bye!
Santo Ad Agency want to apologize with 7SoL for this.
In the future we gonna steal more carefully.
Like in our "Creadores de Dueños" ("Owners creators")
campaign for Banco Hipotecario, when in the first commercial of the campaign we copy/paste the background of the "Birds" short film of Pleix. Sorry about that too.
I couldn't care less whether this video is Argentinian, Fijian, English or French - plagiarism is plagiarism. Coca Cola are scum, trying to rip off the little man. There's no chance in hell that this is an accident like they claim and as an animator, I'd be much angrier than Joel Veitch was!
Let's get several things straight, this is not against Argentina. And the whole thing about this making the band famous is a pile of tripe. 7SoL already have a respectable and loyal worldwide fanbase without which they would have not discovered the advert in question.
The advert itself is a blatant ripoff of both the animation and song being used to make profit without the bands consent, which is why it is such a problem. Peace to all the Brits and Argentinians out there.
As far as I know, there aren't any similar Coke jingles from the past, but the use of both a similar animation and tune is pretty suspicious, plus the Coke Light Argentina website has taken down the commercial. You are right though, the band will have to proceed with caution on this.
you're right. Quiznos paid for the right to use that advertising, so it's not about money or making the band famous, as I see some people suggesting in other posts. Coca Cola is p*ssing on the little guy here.

It's not about the country or that. If the band were Japanese, it World be the same thing.

Ok. This is what I think. This is not about Argies vs. British. It's about 2 desperate morons from a Commercial company brainstorming at 4am while smoking weed in a hurry for a deadline. They go online, they put karaoke on and BOOM, commercial done, deadline met.
Very sad...im from argentina and its sad to hear about aargentina and england beecause a pair of stupid guys stealed a song to put in a comercial. Thats nothing to do with me or hundreds of argentinians or england people that wakes up very early each day to go to work. Its very sad to hear people talking about people they dont know and its sad that a company like coca cola put a comercial that stealed a song from a little band .
About "the hand..." we are not proud of cheating in a game, we are proud of cheating England, the biggest and worst thief in the world. Before u can talk about football pls rewiew world cup 66 video. And, for the records, these stupids creatives don`t makes me proud.
Can I just point out that it isnt Argentia that is at fault, just Coke as a company!! Any more comments about the people or country will be removed. Thank you.
Loco...
Enough people hate Coke. I know that a court case against them, particularly overseas, would be extraordinarily expensive, but maybe Joel and co should mobilise the masses that love their work, and if people dig deep, who knows?
Maybe there's a kindly, publicity-loving law firm over in Argentina that would fancy taking on the case for a substantially smaller fee than is usual.

Man, no offense to Mr Joel, but why they have to make the ad so alike?? I don`t think it worth all this bad publicity for Santo. Anyhow, let's hear the reply tomorrow...

Well, lately almost all Argentinean ads suck, so I just hope not only Coke -because sadly they never will- but Santo's agency get what they deserve.
I bet almost every stupid mediocre Ad Agency here rips off ideas.
Sure, we had some creativity not so long ago, but let's face it: it's gone.

Why couldn't they be? With the countless free source image sites and pictures for use on the internet, they wouldn't have to pay anything.
And even if they do use nicked photos, they aren't using it in a major advertising campaign for a product.

The original 7 Seconds of Love's video featured characters' were of friends and families that the band knew. Well, probably not the cats, obviously.
I'm suprised at the utterly stupid, half-arsed response by Coca Cola. The video is a blatant ripoff in any way imagineable.
