Petite was pretty awesome. His Hawks beat out the Celtics during that incredible run they had those days.
Wilt would dominate in today's game easily. He was way way ahead of his time. Dwight Howard is considered the best today, funny. Howard wouldn't be the best 20 years ago. He would probably play the PF position. It's a small man's game today. Centers are terrible in today's game. In the past Centers were awesome.
all time Center who would have been able to Guard Wilt
Bill russell, Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq, david robinson, dikembe mutombu and artis gilmore, Dwight howard would get his ass kick by this guy, But dwight is young he has potential to go even higher.
@Dreamhaxx02 David Robinson is a footnote compared to Patrick Ewing. He lead a draft lottery team until they drafted possibly the greatest PF ever in Duncan. Pat Riley said after playing and being around Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain, and then coaching Magic and Kareem, "but I have never been around a guy who works as hard as Patrick". Ewing was a warrior. A true winner who just never got a ring.
yea dont know how i could forget a guy like Ewing, I really loved him aswell, tobad Michael and Hakeem kept him from that the thing he wanted so much. a guy like Mark Eaton would probly give Wilt at good fight aswell
@Dreamhaxx02 SOME GUYS JUST ARENT THAT GREAT ,AND EWING IS ONE OF THOSE GUYS WWHO GOT EXPOSED BY THE REAL GREATS . EWING PRETTY MUCH GOT TEABAGGED BY EVERYONE AND HE WAS ALWAYS CHOKING HIS ASS OFF LOL . IT WAS FUNNY TO WATCH THE GREATS JUST TOY WITH HIM . HAKEEM MADE HIM LOOK LIKE AS BITCH . HELL PIPPEN PUT NUTS IN HIS FACE ASS WELL LOL
im guessing that wilt and billy cunninghams video were filmed sometime during the late 80's... give or take a couple years... but with that said how would he have dominated the game in the late 80's more than he did in the 60's and early 70's? the lane was widened so that wouldnt have helped.... pretty much every team (in the 80's) had someone 7 ft (or close to it)... players (in the late 80's) in general were MUCH stronger. so im confused... I mean i love Wilt, hes an idol of mine, but 70 PPG!?
i said some of the guys i mean sure hed be like top 3 centers but shaq in his prime and dwight howard howards more athletic and i think shaqs stronger. wilts like a combination of the two.
Does anyone know why Wilt's wearing number 54 rather than number 13? It's from 4:52-5:01. Does anyone know why he's wearing number 54? I don't know why he is.
54 was usually Luke Jackson's number back then, but Luke must've missed a game and Wilt's 13 turned up missing, so he's wearing 54 against the Knicks. My best guess at a hypothetical scenario, LOL
There ware teams offering contract to Wilt even in 90-91. He was the strongest man to play the game by far. I would think that in todays game with no handcheking, 3 sec.. Wilt would have from 20 to 70 p per game
chamberlin could not beat some of the guys in the league today. hed be an unbelievable player, but he would only be getting about 30 a game. i mean. the defense teams like the celtics play, they could shut him down, plus being 7'1 isnt that big a deal anymore. hes a little too cocky i think.
in 60's even tripple teaming on him wasnt helping and there werent a fouls for every little contact like today. wilt is right, guarding him in today nba with one on one strategy would be sucide, theere is no player in todays nba that could stop him.
That's another rare clip at 6:15. Wilt dunking in his last season 1972-73 against the expansion KC Kings. I think the bald guy getting posterized is the legendary Toby Kimball (#18).
I've seen alot of clips of Wilt, but never before the clip starting at 4:08. My guess is that this is from the 1965-66 or 1966-67 season. The opposition is, guessing, the Bullets. Then the guy (#11) about to soil his shorts would be either Thales McReynolds (1966) or Johnny Egan (1967). The center who fouls Wilt would be Wayne Hightower. In the clip that follows at 4:20, I believe that's the Bullets again and #12 is Bob Ferry trying uselessly to box out Wilt. Anybody think otherwise?
Wilt played against his peers. He was a freak of nature. He destroyed all. Its not his fault that the best in the world were like little kids to him...lol. Wilt developed the finger roll because jamming in everyone's face was no challenge. 50ppg 25 rpg LOL LOL LOL
hehe yes and if you watched some of his games latter in his carrier you could see that wilt was just having fun on the court. i saw him vs jabbar and wilt played so passively without any agression, just he was having fun.but then jabbar pissed him in one play so he pushed jabbar from free throw line to the basket and dunked. this man could do whatever he wanted to.
Please Chamberlain wasn't playing against people that special, he was a 90's type of player that played with shorter lighter players, he was too cocky
What are you talking about? Players back than had more skill then players today. Those players were finess players, now the NBA is full of thugs and meat heads. You do not need skill now to play in the NBA. All you need is height and strength "Shaq", who just man handles players. Chamberlain had a whole arsonal of weapons to choose from: fadeaway, hook shot, finger role...
90s type player? Ha! The 80s was better than the 90s and the 90s better than today my friend. 80s drafts made up teams dominated the league till year 2000. Thats how crappy the level of 90s stars that dominate now are compared to 80s drafted stars whom by the way whent up against partly the 70s starts that made it to the 80s. The NBA`s game lacks of fundamentals, talent, passing game, witts, b-ball IQ, ideal shot selection & the game is easier no handchecking, no hard fouls, 3 second rule etc
your absolutely right. the guys in the 80's (and the 90's for the most part) also played 4 years of college ball before turning pro... yes there are some guys who dont need that but most do. the guys in the 80's came into the league as men and played against men, compared to now, where its boys playing against men. it makes me sick to my stomach when i see a 19 year old lottery pick play and can jump out of the gym but cant dribble or shoot a 10 foot jump shot to save his life
I Think Shaq in 2000 would stop wilt in todays game
