Thank you for this song!! I was 21 when this came out, but did not buy it until I was in my 30s (LOL). I was in my senior year in high school when Got To Be Real was released, but when this song came out I was too through (in a good way). Sorry, but I liked this song better. In the S.F Bay Area, this song used to get a lot of air play on KDIA. I mention this station so much, because they played all kinds of songs. Not just those that were common. They really promoted the artist.

Trouble with today's music honestly? It's all about openly sexual content. At least when I was growing up in the 50's 60's 70's and part 80's, we could tolerate the music. Some of you new singers today should take some lessons from the best of the best singers. We had good times and had our private moments with a girl without having to advertise it on the radio. Why does that bass sound so good? Because it's a Stingray. Has a tone all its own. Other great bass lines using the Stingray: Teena Marie's Square Biz and I Need Your Lovin'. Also check out Louis Johnson, funk bassist extraordinaire (Stomp by Brothers Johnson). And Sade's bassist Paul Denman plays a Stingray on all her hits. Nothing else sounds like a Stingray!

This is the real deal. Cheryl Lynn sounds sensational on this. In the summer of 1981, we'd play this over and over again on the weekends while we were getting ready to go out, have a couple of cocktails in the kitchen, and then hit our favorite bar where we were regulars. What a blast we had. Cheryl was our motivator - she got us going !!!! Still love this record.
