I saw the movie. It was extremely gay and it had a lot of sexual innuendos, like the long throbbig red nose on one of the monsters. The little boy wanting to sleep with all of the horned or horny monsters in one big pile. Ithink Ieven saw one of the monsters humping a tree. Not to mention the little boy was dressed like a rabbit and the rabbit is a symbol used to represent fertility ( the playboy bunny )

Why does Hollywood have to turn every beloved childrens' bk into film? This movie looks brilliant--utterly genius, but the story hardly relies on the bk's plot. It simply uses images from the bk to illustrate a vastly diff. portrayal of the bk. So why not create orig. characters for this unique interpretation? Why associate it at all w/Sendak's classic? It seems a beautiful movie & story but I don't see why Jonz relies on Sendak's beloved, familiar visuals to relay it, that's all.

For all you people who are worried about them messing it up, I think your worries are a bit premature. Based on the trailer, the movie looks like a more in-depth version of the same story of the book. It doesn't look like they've changed any of the basic elements.

I actually went back to check out the book and was mildly disappointed. haha I guess my memory of the story is just much better than the actual story.
