@Hellblazer311 you wasted more time hunting me down like a weirdo. haha. hellblazer... Why not crimson-dark-steel or pheonix-blaze-blade. how old are you chief, 8?
Don't understand the hate. Tito's got an open mind (as have most mixed martial artists) and realises that his boxing needs work. Who better to help than freddie roach? People have got to realise that MMA fighters love combat sports in general and respect each and every competitor out there. Boxing has such a rich and established history that the knowledge gained from working with any top trainer is priceless regardless of what rules you compete under! It's not boxing vs mma!
I know everybody's slagging him off on here...personally I don't know of or who this cat is, but I know that at least 50% of you wouldn't last in a ring with him.
No I don't watch UFC, yeah im into training but not watching it...same with boxing...sounds weird but I just like doing it (like Nike).
Frater8 - what you said conveys everything I've ever said about the guy. I'm not a huge fan of him or his antics at times, but I respect him because of his dedication to training and the hard work he puts in to stay in shape.
Tito sucks at boxing period. He would still suck even if Freddie spent two months with him. He's just too slow and too stiff. I personally think he should work on his submission game and become more of a techniqual ground fighter. He's physically strong, great wrestler, and good control from top position. Just add a dynamic sub game mixed in with ground and pound.
Tito fights with his face to far forward he never extends his arms long enough to have a decent jab or straight right hand, if anything he needs some hard sparring.
@GSPRockNRoll well seems that not having good hands would be the best reason to get the best trainer so i dont get what you dont get about it lol. tito dont have the worst hands by far though, i can think of many much worse than tito but tito has improved alot over the last few years with his hands.
I can tell this guy knows nothing about boxing... When you train boxing you don't just train your hands. It's a co-op thing, you need your hips legs and head.
Funny how people will bag on tito and I understand that of course. However he is the one training and willing to listen and improve. So I tip my hat to him while all the rest just hate on the computer which I am sure that's all they can do. Not the biggest Tito fan but I respect what he has done in MMA and this time around I will be rooting for him against forrest.
@egganbert : This is funny, how does the MMA world say that they are not all about boxing when they go and train with trainers like Roach to improve and be able to KO guys in the Octagon before they even use any leg or hugging crap. Just so everyone knows, it's always about boxing, After that? It's all the rest.
@freddyfreddy101 How do you figure? I mean what proof do you need except for the fact that he has Parkinson's, is incredibly humble for his name sake, and despite certain physical issues that would limit other people he has still managed to work with and train some of the greatest champions in recent years. I am not talking about an opinion I'm just stating the truth. Both GPS and Manny are some of the best we have seen in either MMA or Boxing for a long time. How can you argue with those facts?
Awesome. This is what he should have done years ago. I'm excited he is switching up his training and I can't wait for him to make his detractors eat shit.
the one thing i particularily like about freddie roach is his patience. You can tell in this vid that he has to explain the same thing to ortiz about 3 times but he doesnt get annoyed if you dont pick it up straight away and thats an impressive thing because he's so used to teaching elite level pro boxers who dont need the basics being taught to them so it must be frustrating teaching a complete novice.
Freddie was always a chill guy, I go visit Wild Card often, and him and Pepper are always cool. I'm guessing that as long as you're trying your best and you ain't fuckin around, they got no problem giving some extra help.

although it would be nice to confirm this i think i can figure out what freddie is saying simply by looking at what tito is doing. at 2:25 or so freddies talking about moving while throwing your straits, this is not a popular technique in mma hes saying how if you move to your left while throwing the jab you can throw with more rythm and find more openings but your often moving into his cross range so its risky...

@0BelowSeaLevel9 Punch power is something your eithrt born with or not. But learning the right tecnique and some strenth exercises you can get better power..
@connymat you are mistaken. I think you are confusing upper body strength with punching power. Punching power is generated from the hips and by pivoting the feet not by sheer should strength. What you are actually trying to say is that a person is either born brutally strong or not.
I know guys who are top level at wrestling, judo, mui thai and mma . All say boxing is the hardest. Said the intensity of a boxing fight is the toughest compared to their sports. they all thought it would be easier because they only have to worry about the hands and not the other weapons such as elbows knees and submissions, all got a shock all have respect and new found love for the greatest sport "BOXING!!!"
no - it doesn't show a shit. boxing is nowhere near mma. boxing/kickboxing is just 30 percent of mma training. think before you say something fucking stupid like this.
As an "okay" amatuer boxer, I work the shit out of "pro" mma guys. My footwork is too good for any take down attempt; they can't punch worth a crap and the whole time I feed them leather.
Another thing my friend, I have trained in boxing.......and B.J.J.. with Fabiano Iha...and wrestled in high school and military.......
I am a fight fan....And the first time I saw Freddie Roach was many years ago, when he trained Virgil Hill (A champion and 84 silver medalist, by the way, so dont say Roach "made" him) against Thomas Hearns.....Oh Yeah, Virgil hill lost that one in a lobsided decision.....He was more vocal in those days...I was a kid, dad was a fight fan...
ok that might have been harsh about panama he was top level but not top 5 or 10 for that matter. theres much better candidates to go against roach for p4p, but roach takes that honor decisively
I Never said Panama Lewis was the greatest of all time....but was considered one of the best of his time...........
Wildcard though, does seem like a cool place to train and get in shape........Roach is a respectale guy, and I see your point of view.....Although I dont agree totally with your view, I see where your coming from......Ed Cousins used to work with me, when I was a kid...he helped train Trevor Berbick..
yup ur ryt tito haters are now awake at night just thinking of tito. im proud to say that im a tito ortiz fan and its feels good to see him back again.say gud bye to ur idol chuck who got knocked out 3 times.ur idol chuck got the worse in his career sleeping in the canvass 3 times WTF rashad couldnt even knock tito out and the fact that tito should have won that fight. i bet that if tito and chuck would fight again tito is going to knock him out.. BUT FUNNY TO SAY CHUCK IS IN TO DANCING NOW HAHA
MessiahUK you need to calm down, you're going to ruin your day with all your anger. I'm sure you're still upset about seeing Bisping get ktfo too, but time heals. And it's funny that you say Chuck's my idol when I bet on Shogun and Rampage to beat him, and guess what I was a little richer both those nights cause my guys won.
Bisping getting smashed was fu*king fantastic! Don't think that because I'm British that I'm blindly patriotic, that's an American thing! Don't try and make out that I'm all angry and you're all calm and collected, you're the one that says white is black and red is green.
And why do you Tito haters always have to come and comment on anything that he's in? I don't go about commenting on Chuck Liddell videos, why? Cos I don't give a fuck about Chuck Liddell! There's something about Tito that even if you hate him (which apparently you do) you just can't leave him alone, it's kinda obsessive don't ya think?
It must keep you Tito haters awake at night now that he's back, repaired and still has a career unlike (probably) your idol Chuck Liddell! It must have hurt fu*k like seeing your boy get put to sleep by Rampage, Rashad & Shogun!
Chuck is not my boy, he's just the guy that keeps kicking the shit outta Tito. And I guess you want to twist words as much as possible to save your and tito's ego, but the fact remains that he was ko'd. Okay, maybe he wasn't asleep for 2 minutes, but you don't have to be to be ko'd. When his legs went limp and he fell, thats a ko.The first time they fought should have been a ko, but they gave it a tko instead. So the next fight where it should have been a tko they gave him the ko. Evened out.
You're the word twister here man, not me! When his legs went limp and he fell, that's a KO? What planet are you on? You see people get hit, go wobbly and drop and the fight continues, that's not a KO. KO means "KNOCK OUT" and I'm telling you for the last time that Tito was at no point knocked out. Your arguement is invalid anyway because you got your information the wrong way around, the first fight was recorded wrongly as a KO, not the second.
I wonder how much Tito Ortiz had to pay Roach......Personally, I dont see what is soo great about Freddie Roach.....His claim to fame is Manny Pacquiao, every other fighter he trained was either washed up or never quite made it....Even Manny Pacquiao has many flaws, but his fast inside hooks have gotten him out of trouble everytime...
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or being serious......but Tyson was a fighter in rehab......on top of that, he lost the bout the roach trained him in........I'm a Tito fanatic....and I trained at U.T.C. in Huntington Beach, and met him a few times....and I sport Punishment shirts...(but the socks suck, weak material)....but anyway, Roach's only fighter he "built" was Manny Pacquiao....and even Roach admits this.....There are great boxing trainers in the L.A. area...better than Roach.
You must not know much about boxing, and obviously never competed or trained at wildcard. who has a better resume and would be considered a better trainer than roach? he is the best for a reason, he has polished the skills of b-hop, tony, pac, moorer, dunne and has trained and worked the corner of wlad. the list goes on and on. i'd like to see who you think is a better trainer in not only america, but the world and why?
and while i may be slightly biased, i am that for a reason, i've trained with roach for years but ive also trained with giachetti and ignacio who i consider the best behind roach.
Richie Giachetti....I havent heard about him in years.....And of course, the only name to his resume is Tyson......Nacho Beristain is pretty good, I find him to be a bit of a crybaby....so does Roach, by the way.....Dont get pushy with me, my friend...I'm entitled to my opinions, as you are to yours.....Roach is definatly good, but every trainer will tell you, that to be considered a good trainer, you actually need a special fighter with the gifts to be great...and make the trainer renowned...
so Roach doesnt have a special fighter with gifts to be great? or are you saying you need to build a fighter to something great from scratch? Whatever I still see you can't list a better trainer than Roach, even on paper. Roach might not even be the best trainer on paper but in reality he is and that is why the best boxers around the world flock to him and have trained with him at one time or another. so who is better than roach? you will find that very hard to answer with a legitimately
and who cares if nacho is a crybaby, that has nothing to do with anything boxing. roach may not like him personally but he will admit nacho is a great trainer with the medals to prove himself. Still doesnt change the fact that Roach is the most decorated and popular trainer for a reason. people don't exactly flock to him for his looks and personality lol i'll tell you that
Than if thats the case, what is your particular opinion of Panama Lewis, he was considered the best in the early 80's.......Oddly enough, fighters still flock to him also for training, even though he is even allowed near a boxing ring....He actually trains world champion caliber fighters.....Lets just say for the sake of argument, that he forms a gameplan and a training regiman for Miguel Cotto...You and I both know that Lewis will than better considered the best..Right?
only one man can train tyson, thats kevin rooney,i had a long conversation with boxing analyst sean o grady and he said only rooney can keep him in his place,no one elase, please dont criticise me,am only saying guys what a pro told me,

WOW. This just shows that boxing is harder then mma and that not anyone can do it.
ascencio11 2 years ago
Haha... Boxing harder good one. Its a good sport tho. But think about all the things u have to learn in MMA....
The hardest sport is CARDIO ! Its like a motherfucker !
FabilichuS 2 years ago 2
Boxing is harder. It's just a more established sport.
superninja13 2 years ago
how is boxing is harder ? MMA guys train harder than any sport, they train boxing, BJJ, Muay thai wrestling plus their coditioning.
100isthebest 2 years ago
no - it doesn't show a shit. boxing is nowhere near mma. boxing/kickboxing is just 30 percent of mma training. think before you say something fucking stupid like this.
kagolko 2 years ago
As an "okay" amatuer boxer, I work the shit out of "pro" mma guys. My footwork is too good for any take down attempt; they can't punch worth a crap and the whole time I feed them leather.
superninja13 2 years ago
you're just waste of time. honestly. sorry, but I can't even bother to reply.
kagolko 2 years ago
Lol... Im not even a good takedown artist, but I bet u 1000$ that I could take u down easy....
Footwork aint shit against takedown, only takedowndefence work against takedowns.
If u went a boxing match against one of the MMA title holders u would get crushed...
But its hard to learn good boxing footwork, and boxing is cool. I just like boxing better when u combine it whit MMA.

Another thing my friend, I have trained in boxing.......and B.J.J.. with Fabiano Iha...and wrestled in high school and military.......
I am a fight fan....And the first time I saw Freddie Roach was many years ago, when he trained Virgil Hill (A champion and 84 silver medalist, by the way, so dont say Roach "made" him) against Thomas Hearns.....Oh Yeah, Virgil hill lost that one in a lobsided decision.....He was more vocal in those days...I was a kid, dad was a fight fan...
knowpain00 2 years ago
ok that might have been harsh about panama he was top level but not top 5 or 10 for that matter. theres much better candidates to go against roach for p4p, but roach takes that honor decisively
FreddieRoachLA 2 years ago
I Never said Panama Lewis was the greatest of all time....but was considered one of the best of his time...........
Wildcard though, does seem like a cool place to train and get in shape........Roach is a respectale guy, and I see your point of view.....Although I dont agree totally with your view, I see where your coming from......Ed Cousins used to work with me, when I was a kid...he helped train Trevor Berbick..

if pacquiao is the only fighter that roach built thats one hell of an achievement.

MessiahUK you need to calm down, you're going to ruin your day with all your anger. I'm sure you're still upset about seeing Bisping get ktfo too, but time heals. And it's funny that you say Chuck's my idol when I bet on Shogun and Rampage to beat him, and guess what I was a little richer both those nights cause my guys won.
irisheric3 2 years ago
Bisping getting smashed was fu*king fantastic! Don't think that because I'm British that I'm blindly patriotic, that's an American thing! Don't try and make out that I'm all angry and you're all calm and collected, you're the one that says white is black and red is green.
MessiahUK 2 years ago
And why do you Tito haters always have to come and comment on anything that he's in? I don't go about commenting on Chuck Liddell videos, why? Cos I don't give a fuck about Chuck Liddell! There's something about Tito that even if you hate him (which apparently you do) you just can't leave him alone, it's kinda obsessive don't ya think?
MessiahUK 2 years ago
look at all these guys hoping tito will make a comeback ...His head will win the belt!!
He will be know as the "blond bullet" running into the fighters and knocking them down...hes created a new style..ground and head butt!
Go tito
rok30 2 years ago
It must keep you Tito haters awake at night now that he's back, repaired and still has a career unlike (probably) your idol Chuck Liddell! It must have hurt fu*k like seeing your boy get put to sleep by Rampage, Rashad & Shogun!
MessiahUK 2 years ago
Chuck is not my boy, he's just the guy that keeps kicking the shit outta Tito. And I guess you want to twist words as much as possible to save your and tito's ego, but the fact remains that he was ko'd. Okay, maybe he wasn't asleep for 2 minutes, but you don't have to be to be ko'd. When his legs went limp and he fell, thats a ko.The first time they fought should have been a ko, but they gave it a tko instead. So the next fight where it should have been a tko they gave him the ko. Evened out.
irisheric3 2 years ago
You're the word twister here man, not me! When his legs went limp and he fell, that's a KO? What planet are you on? You see people get hit, go wobbly and drop and the fight continues, that's not a KO. KO means "KNOCK OUT" and I'm telling you for the last time that Tito was at no point knocked out. Your arguement is invalid anyway because you got your information the wrong way around, the first fight was recorded wrongly as a KO, not the second.

I wonder how much Tito Ortiz had to pay Roach......Personally, I dont see what is soo great about Freddie Roach.....His claim to fame is Manny Pacquiao, every other fighter he trained was either washed up or never quite made it....Even Manny Pacquiao has many flaws, but his fast inside hooks have gotten him out of trouble everytime...
knowpain00 2 years ago
(cough) tyson
grumpo 2 years ago
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or being serious......but Tyson was a fighter in rehab......on top of that, he lost the bout the roach trained him in........I'm a Tito fanatic....and I trained at U.T.C. in Huntington Beach, and met him a few times....and I sport Punishment shirts...(but the socks suck, weak material)....but anyway, Roach's only fighter he "built" was Manny Pacquiao....and even Roach admits this.....There are great boxing trainers in the L.A. area...better than Roach.
!
knowpain00 2 years ago
You must not know much about boxing, and obviously never competed or trained at wildcard. who has a better resume and would be considered a better trainer than roach? he is the best for a reason, he has polished the skills of b-hop, tony, pac, moorer, dunne and has trained and worked the corner of wlad. the list goes on and on. i'd like to see who you think is a better trainer in not only america, but the world and why?
FreddieRoachLA 2 years ago
and while i may be slightly biased, i am that for a reason, i've trained with roach for years but ive also trained with giachetti and ignacio who i consider the best behind roach.
FreddieRoachLA 2 years ago
Richie Giachetti....I havent heard about him in years.....And of course, the only name to his resume is Tyson......Nacho Beristain is pretty good, I find him to be a bit of a crybaby....so does Roach, by the way.....Dont get pushy with me, my friend...I'm entitled to my opinions, as you are to yours.....Roach is definatly good, but every trainer will tell you, that to be considered a good trainer, you actually need a special fighter with the gifts to be great...and make the trainer renowned...
knowpain00 2 years ago
so Roach doesnt have a special fighter with gifts to be great? or are you saying you need to build a fighter to something great from scratch? Whatever I still see you can't list a better trainer than Roach, even on paper. Roach might not even be the best trainer on paper but in reality he is and that is why the best boxers around the world flock to him and have trained with him at one time or another. so who is better than roach? you will find that very hard to answer with a legitimately
FreddieRoachLA 2 years ago
and who cares if nacho is a crybaby, that has nothing to do with anything boxing. roach may not like him personally but he will admit nacho is a great trainer with the medals to prove himself. Still doesnt change the fact that Roach is the most decorated and popular trainer for a reason. people don't exactly flock to him for his looks and personality lol i'll tell you that
FreddieRoachLA 2 years ago
Okay, Fair enough......
