  • What has happened to ICC, look at the beautiful kits color of those days. nowadays, kits color suck big time

  • loving the beef

  • This innings was sensational and played at a time when one-day cricket was often dull as dishwater.

Oddly, this was live on the BBC in the early hours of the morning and I remember watching it - I think ENgland won 3/3 tournaments downunder that year and sporadically, ITB was terrific.

  • @mcs1hr - It's true England won everything that season. The 2010-11 team got the Ashes at least !

  • Dean Jones was a great talent that never got the support he should have from Australian selectors. He was dropped from the test team '92-'93 despite having topped the averages in the previous test series.

  • Beefy was and remains a legend....

  • I think this was the first game under lights at the waca.

  • Botham was great. He was criticised for not doing as well against the Windies, but he did have the odd freakish innings against them too. One great alround performance springs to mind in England in a series where Viv scored two double hundreds. He was a brute, and i wish Pieterson would be as daring coz he can do anything.

  • Didn't Botham do well that day !!!

Graham Gooch opted out of the 1986-87 tour and Craig McDermott was last heard of in an "explicit video controversy". Hopefully the video isn't on YouTube.

  • dean jones was a great one day batsman and he made in to the aus greatest one day team named in 2007

  • my dad played in this match for england

  • Really!!! whoz Your Dad?

By The By, wasnt Gooch there in The team?

And what happened to Craig McDermott?

  • my dad is jack richards

  • okay!! Gr8!!!

    Is He Wicket Keeper?

  • yeah Gooch wasn't seleted for that match

  • I think he was under Ban for playing in RSA.

  • In Eighties and Early Nineties England were a Great Side : I am waiting for 1987 WC SF when Gooch Singlehandedly on one-knee took the game away from the favourites n World Champions India(my home country). I remember this game as this was the first ever I saw from the beginning till the last ball.

  • You have to be joking, 85-99 was the worst period in our cricket history!

  • No. I think it was the early 90's 93-99. That was still a decent side through the 80's. They won the ashes in 85 & 87 and did ok in the '92 WC. After that it was things like 46 v the WI etc.

  • Sorry, we lost every home series from 1986-1989. We went through a patch of 2 test wins in a period of about 30 matches. The wins against Aus were the only ones in that time frame. Aus were also rubbish in the mid 80's

  • @madbob73 - Yes England were rubbish but Australia were worse for a while !

  • Didn't your dad keep wicket and score a test century that ahses series?

  • lol speaking of dads playing cricket... I went to Uni with a guy who was Ashley Mallets kid. And I met Dizzy at a local bar one night in Adelaide !

  • England made a clean sweep of that summer: The Ashes, The WSC and this competition The Perth America's Cup Challenge.

A great summer if you were a Pom.

  • But, The Best days of England are Over. England is today counted amongnst Minnows.

  • I remember this so clearly- loved watching that series as a teen- can't believe 20 years have gone!

  • Jesus i was at that game as a 6 year old!

  • I remember that innings by Botham well. Great video. Back when English cricket was worth watching. Shame about the recent series.

  • Love this video. Phenomenal Post.

  • MAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX is commentating!

    Love the sailors uniforms
