  • The goverment blocks this video in Vietnam .

  • The same people that did this are still in charge in China. And now China has increased wealth and power. This is the next great world hegemonic power and God help us if nations like Russia, India and the United States don't stand up to the CCP and the PLA.

  • the same people are running china and guess what ! now they own americas debt ! good fucking luck with your marxist-fascist obama president whackjob americans !

  • @iamdiaperman marxist-facist? you are so ignorant, a marxist and a facist are so polar opposite, that is like saying " you are a stupid democrat tea party bitch!"... fucking idiot learn some facts and common sence before spewing your dumbassness all over youtube

  • Too bad nobody had the balls to stand up and help the uprising.

  • The biggest moment in 1989. Events that shocked the world

  • Well, I think the biggest moment in 1989 was the fall of the Berlin Wall. But thats just me.

  • airdate was june 4 1989

  • NBC was televising my Cardinals vs. the Cubs on the Game of the Week. I taped the game and left in one of the updates from Maria Shriver.

  • the best evidence that the CCP was using this policy is right in the news report. the reporter says that the unit based in Beijing was remaining in their baracks as a "protest." not quite. the Beijing troops were ordered to stay put for fear they would refuse their orders or worse, join the protesters. the Soviets used Siberian troops to crush revolts in Hungary, Czech & Poland. France used rural troops against the Paris Commune. Even the US had to use Midwest troops to end the NY Draft Riots.

  • for people wondering how (or even if) Chinese soldiers could kill their own countrymen, here's how. The CCP used the same method pioneered by the Soviets. When you are faced with a revolt, you NEVER send in local troops b/c they will inevitably be sympathetic to their neighbors and know the true situation. Governments always bring in troops from as far away as possible, w/ no connections to the city, who are then told that mobs of traitors are trying to overthrow the gov.

  • @ndietz

Yep, and this same tactic is being used in Syria right now. They just tell the soldiers that 'armed groups' and 'terrorists' are causing mayhem, when in fact, they just encounter protesting civilians.

  • uytfvbnmkoiuy, man your an idiot! How much is the Chinese government paying you? You are funny, keep believing the lies of the Chinese government. I really hope they come after you one day (the Chinese Governmnt) and no one helps you:)

  • uytfvbnmkoiuy,

I understand how you feel about western media. In many ways, it is biased, but this story is true, and this incident actually occured. No part in this news broadcast was exaggerated.

I know that sometimes, it is difficult to admit to being wrong, but this is one dark, but real segment of Chinese history. What we should do is learn from this incident, and show the world that ordinary Chinese people are pro-democracy. We must show everyone that China is a peaceful nation.

  • i lived and worked in china, and it's my favorite country in the world, more so then my own.

The people are hardworking, friendly and peaceful. This tragedy is a disgrace, but china has changed since then, the government is not as strict. The only thing it needs to do now is maintain its balance and not let third parties take advantage.

    peace

  • I doubt that the average westerner thinks all Chinese are monsters. I for one have met many kind and friendly Chinese. But I think people do wonder why a government would turn its troops on its own citizens.

  • @kiwimantou44456 you obviously never heard of the Nazis Party

  • i saw soldiers got killed, burned alive by crazy teenagers. But I have NEVER seen a picture or video that people were killed by shooting or tanks, WHY? why?

  • Gee, I guess NBC and the BBC were not interested in getting killed filming these things up close, however they did film in the hospitals and streets around the square. Just like the holocaust you dont need to see movies of the event happening, there are plenty of witnesses to tell the story. My GF is chinese, her view was like yours, believing every lie that the CCP told...

  • Why NBC and BBC were not interested in putting evidence on TV to prove that chinese are slaughtering chinese. Isn't that what most americans want to see, doesn't that sell more commercials?? Why those Chinese people standing in tiananmen square looked so calm and still, they don't look afraid to me at all. The plenty of witnesses are liars, I am the witnesses too, i saw nothing.

  • There was footage of people being taken to hospital, and in the hospital.

  • fighting and protesting cause injuries too, unavoidable, it doesn't mean chinese army were slaughtering protestors. Bullshit.

  • If the chinese army wanted to slaughter people I'm sure they could have. The word slaughter is pretty emotive.

  • if you wanted to slaughter people, you could have too.

  • i am a chinese, i lived there when that happened, and i don't believe slaughter, it is a lie.

  • @uytfvbnmkoiuy the Chinese gov. ran TV stations back then. Why would they want to tell people that they killed hundreds of their own people. Communist governments try to keep the people in the dark about their bad judgements or anyone that opposes their beliefs. Just look at what's been going on in Iran.

  • It sucks that their not even allowed to know about this

  • Freedom, Democracy and Human Rights for China !

  • National Independence for China!

  • Who was the announcer in the beginning of this

  • The student protests started in around April 1989, and the large government government crackdown which stopped the protests occured June 4, 1989.

  • WoOw when did this happen? :/

  • Who was the announcer in the beginning of this

  • It's amazing how much they kissed China's ass last month when most people there never even know this happened!

  • NBC jurnalists should be fired for not covering the massacre the reporter on the phone sounded like he is giving a weather report

  • what happened to the classic breaking news music they use?

  • I think this was on prior, broke for a commercial and then switched back to Brokaw talking about the incident.

  • The music used now by NBC News/MSNBC

relatively recent. This report was almost 20 years ago.

Essentially, the networks just flashed a slide "NBC News Special"

  • John Williams' "Mission" suite (of which "Pulse of Events," the special report theme, is the third movement) has been used since 1985. The way Brokaw says "Good afternoon, once again" it was obviously not the first time programming had been interrupted that afternoon.

  • Who was the announcer in the beginning of this

  • I strangly suggest that anyone post vid about the incident, Please do not use those word like massacre or shooting etc. because the great fire wall here in china screening these words, so I cant accesse those pages titled like that.

  • MASSACRE SHOOTING TINaNAMEN SQUARE!!!

    SEE YOU IN JAIL PADRE!

  • verry cool
