@calebmaloneblog You can learn hiragana and katakana and few kanji, but mainly the software teaches you the sound and feel of japanese and important grammar. After you do all the levels you have a solid base to really start learning and get in a private class and study along with anime and other japanese culture items. For me Rosetta was very powerful I stopped studying japanese long time ago and I remember almost everything the software tough me.
wtf is this shit?? how does this teach you? sentences to pictures? ok so genki desu ka means a picture of a woman and a girl who looks sick on a couch. i got it Rosetta stone... what you need to know is what it means!!!!
@cokabears Wow, you're an enormous idiot. Language learning happens the most naturally and quickly when you associate foreign words directly to pictures and actions. It does not work when foreign words are associated with English counterparts, which are *then* associated with pictures and actions. This type of learning software removes the English "bridge". Also, "genki desu ka" literally means "good is?"
@armelani24 Hi! Well... you can resolve that if you download the language pack and you mount ISO... now your PC detects an CD and can open the file =]
Wow...after listening to so much Japanese spoken at regular speed, listening to Rosetta Stone examples is so different! The examples are spoken so slowly. XD
However!
I like Rosetta Stone; it does teach you well. I recommend getting through it quickly and then listening to lots of "real" Japanese the way it is really spoken or else you'll constantly have to ask people to slow down when they're talking... XD
@keepdoing Ikr. The speaking pace is too slow (total immersion should be at native speed) and they don't choose the most natural way to say everything (although it's grammatically correct). I've found better things online for free :P
@heathcliffheli Lang-8, Skype, Anki, Japanese social networking sites, the book series "Genki" and "Japanese for Busy people". Sorry for the late reply
I've been using Rosetta Stone to learn Spanish for roughly 80-90 hours of study.
This is the BEST program. In my opinion, their method makes total sense. I've also been told 3 times so far by Hispanics that I speak Spanish without an accent.
This program is worth every penny. Be honest and buy it from the company. And don't go to Youtube for reviews, go to their web site. You'll find a completely different story (Their average rating is 4.8 of 5 stars. Rated by customers like me.)
The pronunciation just sounds so weird. I hope when i go to Japan there won't be other gaijin talking like this XD. I guess it works pretty well though.
ROMAJI IS NO GOOD! DX
They should have the kanji/katakana/hiragana on there!
....Does Rosetta Stone even do that?

@Rissykinns Yes, It does it with grace. I was just being shy to do it that way.
