  • Found hamms at meijers on hill rd. in flint Michigan

  • 35 years later and that stupid jiggle still floats around in my head now and again.

  • I thought it was ridiculous when the US cracked down on Joe Camel because the cartoon picture was supposed to appeal to kids. That's nothing compared to a 30 second cartoon commercial with a catchy jingle and happy anthropomorphic forest animals.

  • Hamm's was off the market briefly when I was a kid and the joke that was going around the playground was, "Why did they stop selling Hamm's beer? Because they found the bear pissing in the sky blue waters." (I don't make 'em up, folks, I just pass 'em along).

  • Do they sell any of Jon Hamm's John Ham! lol

  • BUMBA bumba BUMBA bumba BUMBA bumba

~ from the land of sky blue waters~

    WATERS!

    best jingle ever

  • This is where Bob and Doung McKenzie got their theme song for their show The Great White North.

  • A refreshing depressant?

  • they used to have this in the cheap beer section next to Bud Coors and miller now only bud miller and coors are left in the cheap beer section

  • These were animated by Hanna Barbara Productions back in the 50's.....

  • Brings back memories!

  • I was around when this commercial was airing, but I can't say I remember it. Must of been a little too young, but I remember my Dad and Mom drinking a lot of Hamm,s bear in Oklahoma.

  • Great Video!..I can recall seeing this as a kid before episodes of "The Lone Wolf"

  • A local bar has a crappy beer night once a week. Love drinking the Hamms, Schlitz, Falstaff, Storz, Pabst, Oly. and Old Style. Now that is real bear. No light cra*.

  • This beer wasn't available in the Northeast where I grew up so I didn't see that ad until I saw a thing on TV about old commercials. I have another Hamm's ad with the bear on a DVD of classic TV ads.

  • I'm half native american and i'm so diggin that sweet indian beat in this jingle

  • Man! That's so COOOL!

    Funny the things you forget.

  • they don't make good commercials like that anymore

  • Hamm's used to sponsor White Sox games on Channel 9 out of Chicago back in the day.

  • I am drinking one right now. Got it at whole foods in Seattle of all places. 8 bucks for a 12 pack.

  • @jackson63

$13 for a 30 pack here in Wisconsin!!!

  • @jackson63 : wow...they still make it?....whats it like?....what other brand is it similar to?

  • @inkey2 Pabst

  • I loved this commercial as a kid. It's when I decided to be an alcoholic.

  • LOL!!!

  • @etherealreality LMMFAO!!!

  • I especially love it from 0.24 to 0.30. They don't make commercials like that anymore. Too bad.

  • Awesome, the first beer I got drunk on... plus it's from Minnesota, gotta love that.

  • Yep, my Dad swilled alot of that Hams back in the 60's

  • brings back memories when we'd go back to Minnesota on vacations. My dad was in the navy so we moved around alot. loved those Hamm's commercials

  • The Land of Sky Blue Water is definitely Minnesota. The word Minnesota comes from the Dakota name for the Minnesota River: Mnisota. The root Mni (also spelled mini or minne) means, "water". Mnisota can be translated as sky-tinted water.

  • mmmmm@:0:25.. that is one delicious, refreshing looking beer! There is nothing wrong with beer. Like my Daddy always said.." It's just cereal in a can..wheat, hops, barley..everything the body needs!" LOL and he's right!

  • I LOVED this commercial as a 6 year old boy. I had no idea what beer was.....but I loved the bear and the mythical land of sky blue waters.

  • Great video, I love these kind of family friendly commercials and cartoons. It is a shame something like this is not allowed. But sex on commerfials is allowed. Again I say as I have many times on Youtube, our countrys morals has gone to HELL.

  • I'm with you proudreb.

  • So hilarious that they were allowed to use cartoons to advertise a beer back then. That would never go over today.

  • I second that.

  • Classic and excellent. Whoever posted this did a big favor. Thank you.

  • LMAO, that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time.

That beats my 4 year old niece, after seeing the old Tucks ad, seeing a box of wooden matches and saying, "those are some of them hemrhoid matches."

wow amazing how commercials play in our lives.

  • Thats hilarious about the hemrhoid matches.

  • Wow! That takes me back, cool.

  • My grandpas favorite...... My dad had a job at the brewery for a bit during the 70's

  • Watched the bear as a kid and my dad would let me take a little sip, when Mom wasn't lookin". Those were the days!

  • got a can of hamm's right in my hand

  • I drank Hamm's for years..

    It was excellent !!!!!

Then I switched to Hamm's Light and I drank that for 3 years.

Then they stopped selling it at my liquor store.

I'll have to do a search and pick some up somewhere they sell it.

    HAMM'S An American ICON !!!!!

  • I finally seen a hamms commercial!, why? because i work at a famous daves in colorado and we sell hamms in a can. and people are always shocked that we carry it and they always talk about the great commercials, had to see it for myself....

  • In the sixties my aunt put one of those blue toilet bowl fresheners in their toilet . I was about five and asked her why the water was blue and she said my uncle drank so much Hamm's he was pi----ing sky blue water.

  • lol thats funny!

  • LMAO, that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time.

  • @TrilbyO lmao

  • The old Hamm's brewery is still standing in ruins in St. Paul (last I looked anyway, with the way they tear things down around here it could be gone and I just didn't hear about it while I've been out of town). I think Miller purchased rights to Hamm's recipee and name. My family drank Hamm's, Hauenstein, Grain Belt and Schmidt when I was a child growing up in Bloomington, MN. Every weekend they all drank beer, the adults around had to have been loaded all the time with all the cases I recall.

  • BTW/I recently found Hauenstein in a small liquor store. It looked exactly as I recalled it from childhood, so I purchased a twelve pack. I thought it tasted like crap, but who am I to say...my favorite beer is either Miller Lite or Coor's Lite.

  • @SS421982 the hamm's brewery in st. paul, minnesota is not in ruins. it is no longer in use, but it is still there. hamm's beer was founded and brewed in st. paul, minnesota from 1865 until sometime in the 1990's when the original owners had to unfortunately close down the brewery and sell the brand & recipe (due to financial hardships) to one of the national beer conglomerates. i believe that was miller, which is now owned by another international conglomerate........miller-coors.

  • @TheRealBetaband Have you seen the inside? I only said it was ruined because I've looked at photos from people who sneak in and take shots of the interior. Any old building that's sitting in Minnesota and not being used for many years...is basically ruined (I'm a Mpls native). I did a search and found the photos.... it was interesting.

  • Always remember my step dad drinking Hamms' Beer and he would give me a sip or two every so often. I was only 8-9 years old at the time.

  • Thanks for posting something that brings back such good memoriess.

  • Thanks for posting this, a nice trip down memory lane.

  • wow really loved this commercial, i remember back in chicago on friday nights in the late fifties my dad would watch the friday night fights and this commercial would always be on there, just to here it brings you back there.....just closing my eyes and remembering..... oh yeah, and cracking open a cold one!

  • 40 years ago, my grandfather would down his Hamm's and a pack of Salems after work. My have times changed.

  • awesome marketing back then..I NEVER see hamm's on the shelves anymore, maybe its a regional thing? I live in Seattle, WA - land of the $9 6-pack of microbrews

  • has I watching this I'm having a Hamm's. beer it is a great beer as it was back in my 60's

  • Classic Americana. Too bad the beer was crap. If it was decent, they might still be in business.

  • Hamm's is still in business retard! It is decent at best but it isn't crap.

  • The beer wasn't good at all. The commercials were great.

  • I remember the Hamm's Bear from my days as a kid, watching Royals games. Back in the day, you know, when they actually won one every now and then.

  • im a hamm's man from KC as well

  • Thanks for posting this. I loved those Hamms Beer commercials when I was a kid.

  • my step dad always drank Hamms and even let me have half a can every so often and I was only 8 years old! No wonder Im an alcoholic!

  • cool advert, much better than that stupid "Wazzup" crap.

  • A black bear is my guess?

  • Son, are you gettin rascist on us here? just kiddin really.

  • What kind of bear is this...Panda or otherwise?

  • My parents grew up in the san francisco during the 50's and 60's and recall the Hamm's brewey on 17th and poetreo across the street from seal stadium. The beer glass and sign would lite up at night time you could see it from the central freeway the building is still there ,and their is alot of pictures inside the building of the glass and sign that were on top of the building.

  • Wonderfull!

  • I remember watching this commercial on a old black and white 19 inch TV with rabbit ears, that picked up 3 channels, well 2 if it was raining. Early 60s? Thamks for the memories.

Now I watch TV on a 46 inch, high def, LCD, surround sound, flat screen that, no kidding, receives over 200 channels, but yanno I don't think it can ever take the place of watching tv when I was 6 with my mom and dad brother and sister gathered around that little old tv.

  • I remember the same thing. About 3 channels is all we got. I was mostly into cartoons but was usually too busy outside playing to watch much else. One Saturday morning I decided to turn off a great cartoon and figured I would "save" it till later. Boy was I bummed when I turned the tv on later and couldn't finish watching it.

  • I was just watching Rainier commercials & when I thought of beer commercials when I was a kid, the Hamm's song & the Hamm's Bear are the first that leapt to mind. Too bad the beer was so bad(although better than Schlitz)

  • Also the Cubs and White Sox as well on WGN.

  • Hamms used to sponser the Chicago Blackhawks back in the 60's when their road games were shown on WGN-TV.

  • nothing else could ever make me want a beer except this.

  • WOW!! I've found the mother lode!! I talked about this commercial with others around my age, and we always said these were such cool commercials!! We still remembered the song, too! LOL! Thanks a million for posting this!

  • Umm ... want some!

  • I cannot WAIT to show this to my husband! He's always singing this song and saying how he used to get so excited when these comercials would come on TV. I almost thought he was making it up! He's from Wisconsin (maybe that's the "land of sky blue water") and I'm from Texas. Many Thanks!

  • It's actually Minnesota that is the land of sky blue water, Dontcha know..

  • Uffda!

  • Wisconsin the "land of sky blue water"? Close, but not quite, that would be Minnesota. Never did understand the brewery in San Francisco, but it was short-lived.

  • yeah its minnesota not wisconsin. wisconsin has muddy colored waters... because thats where chicago sends thier shit and garbage

  • Your lack of knowledge of Wisconsin and Illinois is apparent. The elevation of Wisconsin is generally higher than Illinois in all parts of the state. Rivers & streams flow from higher elevations to lower elevations. Even if you were to state the myth that all rivers and streams flow south in North America, you would still be wrong.

I suspect the reason for the theme of Hamm's is because Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes.

    Mortskcab is a:

    F.I.B. = F'ing Illinois Bastard.

  • this beer is one of the best domestic beers around.

  • Wow does this bring back good memories! When I was a kid, I used to dash into the living room from wherever I was in the house when this Hamms ad came on TV. Wonder how the folks felt about how much we kids enjoyed the beer ads.

  • WOW!! My daddy made me pull this video up for him to see. i've never heard of Hamm's before. but when it started he had tears in his eyes and a big ole' grin on his face as he sung it. thanks for posting. it's good to see my daddy reflect on his good ole' days!

  • Your very welcome. I get a big shit ass grin on my face when I watch it too. There is something about this commercial that does that to people!

  • jobie, it makes ya happy!! ( : )

  • From the Land of Sky Blue Waters,

From the land of pines, lofty balsams,

    Comes the beer refreshing,

    Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hamms

  • jobie, LOL! : D

Hints of lakes and sunset breezes...Hamm's beer!

Dance and sparkle in each glassful...Hamm's beer!

    Hamm's the beer refreshing,

    Hamm's the beer refreshing. Hamm's!! ): P

  • verse #3.....

    From across the rippling waters

Through the whisp'ring pines and birches

Comes a call to cool enchantment

Comes a call to cool refreshment.......

Theo. Hamm Brewing Co., St. Paul Minn.

  • Thanks for this a60bug!

  • thanks for posting, been waiting for that one.

  • Awesome!

  • I just went back 40 years, excellent post, does anyone know the lyrics and the group that sang in this commercial?

  • Sascha, the Hamms beer bear. Been decades. My Dad use to drink that stuff all the time. I still remember the Hamm's flowing water sign at the NCO club on one of the AirForce bases we were stationed at in the 60's. Dad have a Hamms and I'd get a cherry coke.

  • Yes, with the tent, campfire and canoe. I have this sign.

  • if ya ever wanna get rid of that sign please keep me in mind...that is a very nice piece..vintage and all...Well i am off to "Hamm it up LOL......i have no idea why i am responding to the responder who responded to another persons video...if that makes any sense...lol

  • Cause your having a hamm's atm maybe. Haha

  • That song has haunted me since childhood. Thanks for posting!
