When I realised it was "that" Vincent, I thought "Uhoh, this is probably going to be terrible. Only Don Mclean should go anywhere near it". However, I was wrong. This is a SUPERB version. Modern, still melancholy, and respectful of the original. This is really a superb version. F**k it. I'm off to buy the album!

I think I kind of agree with Prudkt. This is an immense song and really, nobody would ever be able to surpass the pure love, emotion and desperation portrayed by Don McClean on the original. McClean's version was often played in my home as a nipper and the fabric of the song has stayed with me. Although I like Rick, he really ought to have left this 1 alone!
