  • i passed through the timespace continuum,

materialized in the Earth year 19996 AD.

it was an eternal loop, goa resonating om,

the universe, morphed into a cosmic singularity.

  • shit just hit the fan

  • great track

  • P.S. I have Ableton Suite * now (as well as my vintage keyboards), which is a most modern DAW, but I still use my Ensoniqs a lot, as their layering abilities and control options are stunning (particularly my ASR-10).

  • Best sound in town - wonderful track

  • nice music

  • The person on the video in the first two minutes look like they're on some GOOD, GOOD SHIT.

  • this guy uses to many ching noises.

  • I MISS THIS

  • @simyan2008 True Goa was often made with hardware synths, linked via (non-USB) MIDI, and very often tapes (yes, audio tapes!) were mixed in, as vinyl misbehaved badly in the heat and humidity of the tropical beaches of Goa. Psytrance is usually made with PCs and the timing is therefore less subject to fluctuation (MIDI is a linear format).

  • @magnifixcat Software synths work same way, it's all MIDI protocols inside PC audio workstation. Just fyi ;)

  • @NotReallyFailure I have 9 old-school MIDI synths, including 3 Ensoniqs, an E-MU, and 2 Korgs. The timing on modern DAW software -and yes, I am aware it is all MIDI coding- is much more precise. Old-school MIDI hardware synths used very slow processors and -due to the fact that MIDI protocols are linear, that is, one message sent at a time, the timing was much less precise, as I said. The more voices and/or controller messages -esp. continuous controller messages- that were sent... (cont'd)

  • @NotReallyFailure ... the less precise the timing was, causing the stated tempo to "breathe". Also certain older MIDI hardware was less accurate than other equipment of the same era. Don't talk about things about which you are at best only slightly knowledgeable; it only makes you look foolish.

  • @magnifixcat I wasn't aware CPUs were that slow ;). Oh well, lesson learned.

Also, can you show tracks that have that "breathing" thing in it? Never really focused on that in any of goatrance music.

  • ...And this is the title track of their 2000 release, and actually IS Psytrance, just BTW.

  • Definitions, definitions! X-Dream really spans the genres, going from Goa in the early years to make the switch to Psytrance with their album "Radio", considered one of the very first Psytrance albums.

  • This is one of the classic tunes which inspired us greatly for this 1 hour live set this summer:

    ubetoo.com/side_b/32190

  • The Gore trance in the 90's was the highest.

    It was impressed.

    Thank you.

  • A hypnotic, cataleptic, or ecstatic state.

Detachment from one's physical surroundings, as in contemplation or daydreaming.

A semiconscious state, as between sleeping and waking; a daze.

If the music enables any of the above states then by definition its trance :o)

  • @andybowasere so true !

  • whoever said goa was not psytrance?

    goa is the original psytrance,

it's also now a sub genere due to more modern psytrace evolving in many different directions.

    SOLVED.

  • @simyan2008

I take???(without reading) that what he means is that they are separate.. Usually in the way that most now-a-day-full-on and psytrance is made with software synths etc. instead of the oldschool "wow now I have the chunk of electronic gadgets here to mess with"..?

In my opinion they are a bit different, and goa trance was there first!! ;)

  • @Cosmikh0bo good point mate maybe they are made with different equipment,

    but is goa not psychedelic?

it has a very psychedelic sound to me.

and is goa not also trance?

    well it sure is.

didn't goa play a major part in the creation/establishment of psy?

if there had been no goa i doubt psy would be the same as it is and was a big influence.

the two kinds of music are played in the same parties and made by the same people in many cases as well, no?

  • @simyan2008 There also is a lot of fusion between styles...It`s often hard to keep track, then there are small differences between producing countries (German music often has a bit of a techy feel). What I don`t like is that "they" stick the word "trance" to everything just to sell records !!! A lot of music the play in Thailand and Goa never had a "trance label" and now it`s re-released under a trance name ??? Greetzzz from Amsterdam...Party-Peeps,keep the vibe alive,Bye bye..

  • @simyan2008

So true mate aswell, and yes it is psychedelic, but sometimes also very tribal -influenced, which is mostly not the case on modern Psytrance.

But yes, its the root of modern psy-trance, and thank god(dess) they still make the tributes to oldschool!

For me, goa trance mostlikely never dies <3

  • @Cosmikh0bo aye, and what did these tribal people influence themselves with?

we call it 'psychedelic experience' they call it a medicinal and a legitimate part of the experience of human consience.

so what came first the chicken or the egg?

    you're a good egg i can tell :)

  • MAN I LOVE GOA !!! (And mushrooms !!!)......Greetzzz from from Amsterdam;Eric...

  • @dntpay4sftware Actually, i don't really label this music as anything but psy-trance. Because that's what it is. whether you call it full-on, Goa, Progressive, Dark, whatever.
