Those dogs aren't stupid. I'm sure they can sense the difference between training and real fights by watching their handlers getting more tense and stressed out.

@blackleader77 They're meant to do that to show that breed of dog who is boss, can't remember the breed, but they are VERY strong willed and are aggressive, so yeah, that's how they prepare them for beatings too, the suspect may attempt to fight back and it needs to learn to tolerate the beatings, its a good thing a dogs skull is REALLY HARD! Trust me, my lab's have hit their heads a dozen times now and they just walk away as if nothing happened, due to the strength of their skulls.

@Freciara dogs "turning" on handlers is more common than you think. the handler was pumping up the dog and it just got too excited. no big deal. and the handler was just putting the dog in its place the training will most likely continue.
@bimbo22 you're right in that the bite on the handler was just over exuberance on behalf of the dog. Malinois have a very low stimulation threshold and so easily become over stimulated. Teaching the dog self control around manwork is what's required, hitting it will only serve to add to the stimulation, cause confusion and resentment in the dog and ruins the trust, making the likelihood that this dog will do it for real less likely.

@weaido89 Cougars are not domesticated animals as dogs are and would not be very trainable or receptive to command. There are many animals larger than dogs but they are not suitable partners for police officers, such as lions, tigers, grizzly bears, polar bears, crocodiles, sharks, haha!!
The part when they fly over the car is cool, the part where they don't let go is not. Any properly trained dog, police or otherwise, will let go on command. Clearly there is more emphasis on the attack than there is on the control. And just think, this is a training exercise. If they can't control the dogs here, will they be able to control them in a real life situation?

Police dogs are just used by cops as an excuse to search without probable cause. If a cop wants to search your car but you won't consent to a search, all he has to do is get the dog. He will take the dog over to your car and say the dog "alerted". You, as a citizen, don't know what an alert looks like, so you can't argue. Now your rights are GONE! You are GOING TO GET SEARCHED, and that dog will likely RUIN your car. The police dog is nothing but a tool for LIES! ~Truth
One thing to note... the only dog that even remotely appears to be a GSD (German Shepherd Dog) is the very first. The other dogs are clearly Belgian Malinois... and upon looking carefully, the first one is too.
German Shepherd dogs are the best, both for police work and as family pets/protectors. I love my GSD, would never own any other breed. It's all in how the owner treats these dogs as to how they react/behave. Too many people put this breed down because of how other owners raise them. Most GSDs these days are too over bread, with massive hip problems, Belgians are much better, and IMO smarter too (having trained both), retain information for longer, they are lighter and therefore more agile, and healthier.

Uh, ok calm down lol, I was just expressing my amazement at these dogs! Sure, I did exaggerate a bit, but so did you in your response.
P.S. I wasn't talking about the force of the bite but about the momentum of the dogs going in for the bite... and as for your comment about the lion, I'm pretty sure two of them ripping into a person like that from opposite direction would rip a limb off.

@Spetsop Yes 2 Lions pulling on each arm would rip your arms off but not STRAIGHT AWAY.
Even Lions can't just rip your arm off easily.
Remember, for them to rip your arm off they would have to pull hard enough to dislocate the strong joint and rip all the muscle. Even a bodybuilder would have trouble doing that.

@weaido89 Cougars are not domesticated animals as dogs are and would not be very trainable or receptive to command. There are many animals larger than dogs but they are not suitable partners for police officers, such as lions, tigers, grizzly bears, polar bears, crocodiles, sharks, haha!!

The part when they fly over the car is cool, the part where they don't let go is not. Any properly trained dog, police or otherwise, will let go on command. Clearly there is more emphasis on the attack than there is on the control. And just think, this is a training exercise. If they can't control the dogs here, will they be able to control them in a real life situation?

@mysoulhaunts If someone is doing something illegal and they sic the dogs on them then they deserve whatever damage they get. My thing is the lack of control. And the part where they bite the handler is completely unacceptable. You wouldn't think highly of a police officer who ran around firing wildly. You'd expect him to handle things with control. I expect the same from the police dog. Bite when I say so, let go when I say so. That's a well trained dog. An asset, not a liability.

Police dogs are just used by cops as an excuse to search without probable cause. If a cop wants to search your car but you won't consent to a search, all he has to do is get the dog. He will take the dog over to your car and say the dog "alerted". You, as a citizen, don't know what an alert looks like, so you can't argue. Now your rights are GONE! One thing to note... the only dog that even remotely appears to be a GSD (German Shepherd Dog) is the very first. The other dogs are clearly Belgian Malinois... and upon looking carefully, the first one is too.

German Shepherd dogs are the best, both for police work and as family pets/protectors. I love my GSD, would never own any other breed. It's all in how the owner treats these dogs as to how they react/behave. Too many people put this breed down because of how other owners raise them. This is to rgmztxy and your rude comment about a frying pan stoping this dog. Let me try it on you, see how you feel?

Most GSDs these days are too over bread, with massive hip problems, Belgians are much better, and IMO smarter too (having trained both), retain information for longer, they are lighter and therefore more agile, and healthier.

Holy Shit! Wow... I Do think the Strathclyde Dogs are better trained and treated better, as they are owned by the officer thus meaning it lives with a family, so they can determine who and who not to go for. These dogs just go for anything to be honest.
