I just got my ar done with the 7.62 and have a new 30Rd magazine from some company. But they arent the frankenmags like are usually around. Ill get the maker and post them up have put over 5,000 rounds through my 6 mags and not one problem yet.
I have a DPMS also, but in .223/5.56 - wish I hadn't done that now. I never even shoot it anymore. I had several SKS's and a Russian AK in the early 90's sure wish I had them now. I'll keep the 5.56 cause I have tons of ammo for it.
I'll get another AK or 3 also, but my next addition is going to be something that shoots the old Swede - the 6.5x55. That's just an amazing round. I'm looking at all the possible ways to get into a semi-auto in that round. Might have to build one.
Steel-cased ammo and hard Berdan primers are no problem for Geissele Automatics triggers. Sets them off reliably, consistently. Accuracy is greatly improved from stock OEM trigger with ~10 millisecond lock time to less than half, compared to a Remington 700 bolt-action of ~2.5 millisecond lock time.
HAs kick! Ammmo is cheaper and all over the world. 6.8 at .90 cents rnd! If they come up with 17 hmr in AR , that little bullet does some damage, blows shit up.The rnd totally desentergrates,

I saw one of these at the range the other day... wasn't to impressed, wasnt sure if it was the shooter or the gun though. Easily out shot him with my M39
Nice Shooting! I just ordered mine today and from all the vid's ppl have it seems to be a nice reliable and very accurate weapon. I can't wait to customize the hell out of it.
Robinson Armaments said they changed springs in the C-Product 30rnd mags into springs from the AK47 magazines and they worked fine after that. have you tried that? can all ARs in this chambering fire steel cased ammo?
The barrel always come with gas port, and I think they use standard .750" gas block. Arrh I want an AR10! they are such a pain in the ass to get around. Even better I'd love to see an AR in 7.62x54R!!!
I build AR's, and I have built many in the 7.62x39 so when you ask about gas ports between 223 and 7.62x39 the two calibers need different gas port sizes to work correctly without jam ups .
I use on the 7.62x39 a number 28 or 30 drill bit and the 223 I use a 100 or 110 number drill bit .
The larger the number on bits the smaller the bit size .
The 7.62x39 is so low pressure you must have a LARGE gass hole for all 7.62x39 ammo to work correctly .
you're welcome for the 7.62x39

cool, but if I was going to get an ar it wouldn't be in ammunition that is mainly cased in steel.

has anyone ever tried the 30 rd mags? i wonder how they perform. if they work well, i might get the 20" upper from DPMS in 7.62x39. BTW, good song.

I tried the DPMS, USA, and C-Products magazine with no consistent success.

With my colt 7.62x39 ar-15, C-products mags work with about 99% consistency. The USA 30 rounders work at 95%+.

@comutek I have original Colt 30rd and 20rd AK47 style 7.62x39 AR15 magazines. They work a lot better.

I have been wondering if you could get good accuracy with an AR and the cheap Soviet 7.62 X 39 mm ammo, and I guess that you can.
Thanks for the video!

I used Wolf soft point 154 gr. 7.62x39 to take a 7-point at 280 yards out of a colt 7.62x39 ar-15 with a 16" barrel. It is surprisingly great.

are the gas ports the same size on a .223 and a 7.62 barrel? if you just buy the barrel does it already come tapped for gas?

that's good to know! I'm building one now. I'm getting a CMMG M4 lower. I want an m4 style upper too. What brands do you recommend?

wouldn't 7.62 nato be considered ar-10?
deliveryboy1 3 years ago
yes 7.62 Nato would be an AR-10 but this gun shoots 7.62 x 39, a completely different round.
comutek 3 years ago
The 7.62 x 39 uses the standard 5.56/.223 lower. If you go 7.62 x 51 you will need the larger AR-10 receiver.
