  • Comment removed

  • Never heard these before. They're cool, and loving the basslines. Keep it up.

  • Nice cover :) Cant find a cd of SHT anywhere in the Netherlands -_=' So your covers are my only source :P

I have a question btw, what was your very first bass?

    Robert

  • My first bass was an Antares...and it was a real piece of crap. My second bass was my 1974 Rickenbacker, which is still my main bass 22 years later.

  • fuck, you must be old =P

    Sorry. Kidding

  • 73 Rick here... theyre awesome... but Im a guitar player so I dont make enough use of it

  • A pure pleasure to watch, this is great

  • cool bass

  • I dont usually listen to funky music like this, but hearing the sweet bass on songs like this is changing my mind. Keep up the good work!

  • some damn fine bass

  • I dont normally like watching cover videos on youtube, but I subscribed to you a little while ago, you do a great job rocking out man. From another bass player, great playing dude

  • Thanks, man. There are few things I enjoy more than playing some bass.

  • Sweet as always :D

  • wow, thanks to this video, I am now a new fan of this band! where can I get a record of them?

  • lastDOTfm has some links to purchase SHts first album (replace the dot with an actual dot).

  • sick

  • Damn this reminds of that side project Mike Muir started back in the 90's, Infectious Grooves. Killer grooves man. Love the whole "get funky" vibe going on. I might just have to if you keep making videos like this.

  • 10 minutes of SHTs?! NICE

But I don't have time to watch it right now...DAMN

Cult of the Internal Sun is tattooed on my brain, learned most of it by ear from your rendition...would you mind giving me the tabs for the tap part around 1:30 ? Just one line would get me started that song is SICK.

Cant wait to get back and listen to these LATER

  • I'm really not that good with tabs, but I can tell you that the left-handed tapped notes are the 15th fret of the G, then the 15th fret of the D, then play the 13th fret of the D followed by the 13th fret of the A. In between each note is a single tap with the right hand (really a ghost tap that can be played anywhere), and the last two left-handed notes have two ghost taps in between (played on the G and D string).

Hope this helps...best I can do.

  • dude i'm saying you please post a lesson of cult im begging you!!!!!!! as you did with primus' spahetti western and greet the sacred cow

  • Sounds awesome dawg

  • YOO sick band too bad they sound like a Cannibal Corpse song (the name i mean)...and quick question for you zodiak...where on earth did you pick up tht rick (from your other videos)? i've been searching craigslist, ebay, and local music stores...they said they could get me one in TWO years....and I don't really trust ebay too much...you know any american stores tht would have some in stock...cuz id like to try before buying!

  • Well, I got Priscilla in 1987, so the market was quite different then. Not that they were super common then, but way more common than now.

Go to the Rick website and get the location of the nearest rick dealer to you. They are sure to have one you can play, but call first.

But I know your pain. Priscilla needs new pickups, and the company doesn't have any available to sell.

  • tht is when you know its time to learn how to make your own! would you ever try that?

  • I am not good enough with my hands to try to make something as complicated as a bass from scratch. It'd be neat, but I am afraid it would take me years to complete, and I'd only make one.

  • musician's friend also has some ricks

I'll warn you though, they's expensive.

  • yea i know i can just order it from there...but there's always gunna be the issue of they dont ship it to canada and i wanna try before i buy

  • wow! never heard of SHT before, but I'm definitely going to check them out now! Parts of "Hope" make me think of "Shake Hands With Beef"... don't see why record companies think LRRG's are a negative use of music... hell, you guys turn me on to a lot of music I haven't heard, and even some i haven't heard in a while...

  • Well, only some record companies have a problem with it. Sony BMG at least understands that this kind of thing is not costing them a dime, and they are allowing this with no problems (Iron Maiden and Megadeth are Sony).

UMG and WMG, on the other hand...well, I am not recommending playing ANY tunes by either company. Too easy to get your account suspended permanently. That sucks because I loved playing Primus.

  • very cool bass line

  • awesome play again, mate! Great sound you get there.

  • I recently did a pickup adjustment on Wulfgang and got a thicker sound and less disparity between the low strings and the high ones. It is strange how just a little teeny adjustment can make such a difference in sound with an active pickup. Something I definitely am not used to.

  • Oh, i see! What adjustment did you make, i might have to see how that turns out for mine...

  • I simply took a screwdriver and adjusted the bass end of the pickup (E and A strings) upwards until it distorted and then drew back a little bit, and then I adjusted the higher end of the pickup (D and G string) until it mixed well with the lower strings using both fingerstyle and slap. I adjusted both pickups the same way.

Now I can open my pots (knobs) all of the way without distortion and can play as hard as I want without messing up the sound (active pickups are tough on a slammer like me)

  • Awesome, thanks, I shall be trying this before I upload another video...

    Great advice, cheers man

  • love you man! you rule

    LRRG 4 LIFE

  • im pretty sure if you can play this you can play primus man give it a shot...

try golden boy off of brown album im sure you could pull it off!

  • he can play primus. what he meant in the description is that due to the copyright wars primus videos have been taken down and so he's not gonna make videos just to have them removed.

  • oh...that's bs :(

  • yes it is

  • Sorry to hear Prescilla's off.. I know how it feels, I have a classic car whose solenoid just went bad.

At least Wulfgang will see some more love.

This stuff is crazy, keep it up.

  • Realy good, watching every your video with pleasure. "Zachot" man!

  • lol for some reason the Mr. Softee song reminds me of that old video game Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the SNES

  • Why YOU aint in metallica:D

  • Every video that I watch of yours puts a smile on my face. Keep playing SHT, they are pretty sweet.

  • Man your tunes keep getting more and more interesting with each video you post, Mr. Rob. I really have to give these guys a listen, and a play if Im able to. Great job, my friend!

  • great cover. hmmm, you could buy an old Ric off of Ebay for its pickups. After all, all acedemics are stinkin' rich, right? ;)

  • Ah awesome. I just recently bought a Schecter myself. I got an Omen 5 with the walnut finish. I don't know how to play bass, but it seems like a nice guitar! :)

  • damn, some grade A Mr. Bojangles funk right there XD

  • Damn these guys are so intense. A lot of crazy bass stuff going on there. Amazing job as usual man. I always look forward to your covers.

  • Hi Rob, how are doing?

    AMAZING!!!! just amazing!!!!!

    as always....excellent video!!

you are a GREAT bassist!!!! I admira you!!!

    have a great week!!!

    -Ale-

  • dam ur so pro at bass

  • badasss

  • Sounds awesome man

  • Amazing. I gotta find some of their stuff.

  • They really are a great unheard-of band. In 1996, they were voted one of the top ten emerging bands, but they seem to have been overlooked by the radio, etc. I guess their music was a little too atonal for mainstream, but I thought it was great stuff...and an excellent Primus-surrogate for youtube.

  • Wow, wow, triple wow! Gotta love it Rob. It's stuff like this that makes make feel like canceling my cable TV. I could just hang out here instead! Cheers, and keep posting these treats. I may start doing some again, but I'm still a little screwed for time, and half of me is still stinging over the suspension. Oh well, like you said, 'it's only over when you say it's over' not to worry though, I'll be back. I'm looking at the Sony BMG labelled stuff instead, you gotta be really f**king careful.

  • I understand about stinging from the suspension. Heck, even I'M stinging from it! It's much harder to make videos these days because not only is my equip failing me, but the record companies are breathing so hard down our necks that I am afraid to poke my head out. Every new video is an opportunity to learn about what we do not know about who owns what music....it's insane.

But I am glad you are still around, Munkybarz. I just hope all your old subscribers find your channel soon.

  • Funny thing is, my pal just posted three videos of some live stuff we did in Jan of 07. The Zep medley was too long and had to be split in two and Ramble on is posted too. Head over to zozojones channel and you'll see them. I'm going to call him and have the videos sent to me full size and I'll post them too. Don't forget to click on the HQ button, it makes a big diffrerence.

  • THIS IS AWESOME!

  • Thanks, man. I enjoy playing this style of music quite a bit...too bad there really isn't much of it out there.

  • Awesome as per usual!

  • Much appreciated.

  • nice bass skill 5/5 stars

  • Thanks....far from perfect, but I like a good challenge, even if I flub a note or two.

  • wow. u are amazing dude

    lol got the same bass

  • Then you'd probably agree with me that the Schecter is the most slappable bass out there. The strings just play themselves and the frets are so tight and smooth that your fingers just glide over them.....It's like I'm just there for the ride.

Thanks so much for dropping by!
