The only made me a little sad here is that Celice americanized herself too much. I remember when she could sing in italian without accent. Now I can hear a great singer but like an american great american singer singing in another language. Few americans could do it well ( Connie Francis is a great example of it)
PROPS PROPS PROPS to Celine, I figure not many of her fans have seen this but she sounds out of this WORLD FANTASMIC here and this is PROOF that Celine can still SING CIRCLES AROUND everyone

Well, I guessed I got caught for irresponsible taking. I would like to take back what I said about Celine. Besides I have absolutely negative feeling towards her.
Celine has a typical pop white female's voice. I am just not a fan of hers for her voice is stiff, cold, full of annoying nose voice, lack of soul, warmth, fire, richness, and timbre. She is over-rated for her singing ability as a pop singer.
But I won't take back what I said about Andrea Bocelli.
@Doooku ummm, we all those descriptive adjectives we get you aren't a fan, but to those of us that ARE FANS, every descriptive word(s) you state, we feel she is, so go shit yourself

When she has to sing a song full of big notes like this song here then she has to move LOTS of AIR and yes it can get stiff, go listen to some of her ALBUMS and her softer side, her voice is GORGEOUS~!!!!!
@jak30341 and just the FACT that she can SING THESE NOTES (not scream but SING) SUCH NOTES, how dare you, you should step back because you can't do this and no one you know can, so I advise you to have a seat in the back of the bus bitch
@jak30341 i totally agree. i'm still positive that she can still sing her old songs the way she sung it before like all by myself, regarde-moi, le blues du businessman, the power of love. if you put her in a studio and ask her to sing those songs, given that she had enough rest, vocalization, and by not thinking of her appearance, for sure she can still do it, she can still hit that all by myself note together with it's force. i think she still can do it.
@jak30341 if we'll about force, have you notice that her voice recordings on the taking chances album has so much force? listen to taking chances, that's the woman in me, map to my heart. it's so clear that she can still throw those notes from her vocal cords. let's say, we'll have her do just one show, two months prep and once she's done with her so she'll have months of rest and we'll request that she'll sing her songs exactly as she recorded it. do you think she's not capable to do it?
@jak30341 - i know that there's lots of times that she didn't sound great 'coz of her diction & maybe 'coz of her moods or heavy outfits or the pressure of using a dfficlt stage or smply just 'coz she's not relaxing when deliverin her piece, that some people cnclded that she can't sing the way she used to. i think it's nt true. 2 mch tension, stress, & pressure on what's been expctd of you cn affect ur voice, especially when u're doin lots of show with just minimal time for rest & vocalization.
Did you read the New York Times music critics on Bocelli? Majority of the tenors, sopranos, etc., trained 5 hours a day, years after years, working extremely hard. And suddenly a blind tenor who has no training and no voice claimed the title "The Greatest". I think it is melodramatic and hilarious. Yes, Bocelli is better than Pavarotti, who is my neighbor Fred Pavarotti who always loves to sing in shower.
Hey, you ignorant troll with no life! Since when have you had the right to judge someone who can really sing? I'd like to see you sing and show it to "New York Times music critics" I bet they'd say that "it sounded like a donkey getting raped by castrated trying-to-sing Justin Bieber. And that was with autotune" So before trying to bash the best selling female artist of all time and a legendary voice, get some knowledge of music and respect towards artists that have done decades of this
You ignorant mouth piece of sh*t. Read the link carefully before showing the pure stupidity and rudeness to the public. Can Pavarotti outsell Bocelli? No. Does it mean Pavarotti is less an artist? No. Get the logic straight before yelling here like a donkey.
This is to Doooku- Here is a way to fix your dilema: If you DONT LIKE HIM DONT LISTEN- problem solved. People like YOU are a disgrace. I guess over 54 million people must be tone deaf and have nothing better too do than spend there money on someone YOU say has no talent. HMMM... And obviously Celine Dion- the highest paid female singer in the world-must be a bad judge of character to agree to sing with someone AS YOU SAY who has no talent. HMMM AGAIN. You are an IDIOT.........
You are an idiot. The Wall Street bankers are several time higher paid than Celine Dion and Andrea "No Voice" Bocelli combined. According to your logic, they must have something special to offer, right? Do you hear a word called "over-paid" and "fraud"? He has no voice, understand?
Successor of Pavarotti? The 4 Tenor? The Greatest Tenor of All Time? Bocelli is the biggest fraud walking on the music industry. This fraud insults the hardworking and honest music students and public.
Celine Dion has her rich husband's money. And I thought she is a lesbian--no offense, judging from her stage presence, she is more like a man than a woman.
@Doooku that is quite rude, Celine is quite effeminate, you get up there and belt out those notes and see if you can do it effeminately when you're moving air like that out of YOUR LUNGS, please, what an idiot
@Doooku you clearly don't know the story of Celine and her husband. He mortgaged his house to finance her career. They were broke starting off and built their wealth together!!!
Hello Debbie, actually it's a kind suggestion. I tried to ignore him but this time one of my girlfriends happened to be his big fan and she insisted to see his show. It was not a pleasant experience. So this fraud has used the modern technology to force people to see him.
one of Celine's poorest performances. Her jerking motions and playing with her earpiece she looked like she was auditioning for a talent show. She is unbelievable and is allowed not to be perfect but it's just hard not to comment because she usually is perfect.
@MrCastmaster u do know this was a rehearsal right?...that is why she was playing with her earpiece, better then doing it in front of the audiance and if you see the actual live performance, she was impecable as usual.
this must be a rehearsal and it is in a higher key, most likely the original key they recorded it in and Celine sounds INCREDIBLE, amazed she can pull this song off in that key still those notes are HUGE....she does play with her earpiece at one point, almost looks like out of nervousness or perhaps she felt her voice was shaky in that key and so they lowered it, she seems to struggle slightly when singing really high but she still can definitely pull it OFF as displayed here!
“You could have guessed the encore: Puccini’s “Nessun dorma,” from “Turandot,” which Luciano Pavarotti turned into one of the world’s most recognizable melodies. The rain had stopped; the night was clear; the crowd went crazy. And I was again left in awe at the money, power and appeal of pop culture.”
---New York Times.
The writer was not awed by Bocelli's voice, instead by the money, power, and pop culture. Well said!
“But after a career of nearly 20 years (he turns 53 next Thursday), Mr. Bocelli still has not worked out some of the technical kinks in his singing, which are both masked and revealed by the amplification he routinely employs. His voice quavers on sustained notes; his tone is often thin and shaky. And for all the innate expressivity of his voice, his singing is sometimes curiously bland. His rhythmic delivery can be all over the place.”
@Doooku You sound very envious of Mr. Bocelli. It appears that you have some knowledge of singing and are probably a good singer yourself so you should know that singing is so much more than technique... not just a mere formula that you learn and practise ..its also "art and soul" that comes from within...it can't be taught. So many good but not so great singers are blind to this. Of course Mr. Bocelli isn't perfect but what human being is??????
Mr. Bocelli is "outrageously over-rated"--that's the whole point. He may have a "sweet" voice to some people but his singing is at best the level of high school choir. The second point is his "outrageous commercial propaganda" which claims he the BEST of nowadays and one of the best of all time, comparable to the legends like Caruso, Pavarotti, Franco Corelli, etc., He should come up and deny such titles just as Domingo denied "the greatest" citing "pavarotti is the greatest"
@Doooku Caruso, Pavarotti and Corelli including Domingo are great opera singers. Mr. Boccelli is a pop-opera singer...hense his popularity with the masses. Mr. Bocelli is quite a humble man. He does not "over-rate" himself. Most people do not understand opera but the masses do understand and love what Andrea sings. You obviously have not heard high school choirs lately. No doubt, Andrea is talented and lucky in his carreer. Life's not fair. Get over it!!!!!!!!
But after a career of nearly 20 years (he turns 53 next Thursday), Mr.
@Doooku The New York Times is wrong and its critics should be fired! Put 10 experts in a room and you'll hear 10 different opinions. Excellent technique does NOT always ensure a beautiful singing voice. It helps but its all in the tone and Bocelli has a beautiful tone and a "gift" that can't be disected and examined under a microscope. Its also not a matter of endless practice because Pavarotti couldn't even read music and was a salesman until the age of 27. He too had some lucky breaks.
@Doooku I do respect your opinion and I think you are right in some points. But reading some of the things you said... well, in order to be respected you must respect others first. And not become vulgar just cause you didn't convince someone with your ideas. This is a free world and you need to adjust yourself to it. No problem giving constructive feedback, but then go out there calling ppls name. It's childish.
I expressed my opinion, well, in a "free world", that I think Andrea Bocelli is over-rated, especially he claimed himself to be the successor of Luciao Pavarotti, Enrico Caruso, or even Franco Corelli. That's it. I don't have a negative feeling about Celine because she is a humble and capable artist. The only problem is Bocelli's crazy fans who won't accept constructive feedbacks and they attacked people who are giving it. I think I have made that point very clear.
@RonaldBarone Of course I respect other people's opinions...but its important to have an INFORMED opinion. I'm going to say it one more time...Andrea Bocelli is NOT AN OPERA singer, never was...never claimed to be...never will be... and...has NEVER performed in an opera. He is a POP OPERA singer...and one of the worlds greatest.
Andrea Bocelli did sing in Met Opera House. It was a complete disaster. His voice could fill 1/10 of the house. His control was horrendous. He shouted like a pop singer. He lacks every basic training. He shamed his vocal teacher, the great Franco Corelli.
When Placido Domingo was awarded "the greatest tenor of 20th century", he declined the honor citing the reason being "There is Pavarotti". Andrea Bocelli could just well stand out and stop his commercial team's propaganda. But he chose not to. It's shame to him.
This guy is a disgrace. He used opera's good name for personal propaganda. He is at best a high school tenor, with absolute shaky techniques and thin voice, without control, support, timbre, and legato. It's murderously painful to listen to him.
You sure know a lot about music since you use the jargon of the trade so well.... but unfortunately you still have much to learn. Why should Mr. Bocelli " work out some of the technical kinks in his singing". He's one of the world's most respected and sought after pop-opera singers. Why "fix" what ain't broke???He's not an opera singer. He has never starred in an opera and never will....so to judge him as an opera singer is unfair.
This is not during the LIVE CONCERT! I was there in the second row, she had the same dress, however, her hair was down and she was standing on his left during the concert. It must be a rehearsal or something.
@dandi1978 it is true! This is Italy and not only! the Italian people is not represented by its political and even give a bad image. Believe me in Italy there are so many good artists and so many people who work hard!. God bless the fantastic U.S.A. Italy and the eternal.
@TheLaura200 I think it was recorded before Sep 15, but sure about the date though... I think this is from the soundcheck they did right before the show started - Celine wore the same dress when she got on stage later on and her hair was not pulled back. She usually pulls her hair back while rehearsing, I guess she finds that pretty comfy :)

Let the man has his opinion. Have yours, but let freedom to exist in order for you to say and respect others point of view.

@omegala1
Andrea Bocelli did sing in Met Opera House. It was a complete disaster. His voice could fill 1/10 of the house. His control was horrendous. He shouted like a pop singer. He lacks every basic training. He shamed his vocal teacher, the great Franco Corelli.

@omegala1

It must be a rehearsal or something.

was that on sep 15? did she do 2 performance of the same song? with different dress and hairstyle?
TheLaura200 5 months ago
@TheLaura200 I think it was recorded before Sep 15, but sure about the date though... I think this is from the soundcheck they did right before the show started - Celine wore the same dress when she got on stage later on and her hair was not pulled back. She usually pulls her hair back while rehearsing, I guess she finds that pretty comfy :)
