  • watch the top gear episode about just how damaging the production of the Prius is, travel to the mines, quarries and processing plants in Canada, from which they ship through Norway, to China where they create the foam that they use in the battery, go to Japan where they finish the cars before shipping to the US, where they're driven on trucks to the state you live in.

  • @wikieditspam everything in Top Gear is setup They even driven an electric car almost out of batteries just to get good television at the start of the real test.

  • @worldbeater1 No kidding, but the Prius does use minerals from Canada, and there are deadzones caused by the mines and their processing plants. I still think that's a better idea to work towards making increasingly more practical electric cars, and that we should be building infrastructures around Nuclear power (preferably not built on active fault lines nor cheap corner cuts in safety standards) and thermal solar power everywhere that it's applicable. Until then, drive diesel.

  • is that the new iLaughtrack program?

  • Why are those idiots constantly laughing?

  • you are a disgrace to the human society... I've owned more than 7 Toyotas and they all drive like charm... for those "Toyota" haters... u just need to find a reason to put more pride into your American POS and to get you out of bankruptcy... wipe that pride of your face... none of your chevy & ford will ever match up to Toyota... bet on it...

  • @Hlub1vuagdua Thats the woz your calling a disgrace there. He's the man who invented the personal computer. If woz says a computer is broken, goddamn it, its broken.

  • @Hlub1vuagdua yes toyota are way better than the US made crap but hey companies are run by humans and humans make mistakes!

  • well in some cruise control systems, there is a feature that allows you to increase the speed of the car without using the pedal

  • iPhone 4 anyone ?

  • I bought a yearis 2 years ago {Richomnd Auto } in BC Canada , the car had 1200 KM on it , I was told the price will be adjusted because of the KM on the car , However they never did so

Yaris is a real nightmare , dont buy , ! not gas economy , The road side never worked

  • How about everybody just start buying American again & I mean real American cars like Ford, GM, or Chrysler, not shitty Camry's or Prius's.

God, American's are so stupid, they're going to kill themselves with their stupidity

  • American are so lazy, they want the car to drive by itself.

  • I hope that fat fuck crashes and gets fucking killed. Cracker-ass faggot Wozniak

  • Name another manufacturer that recalls its products as much as Toyota?

Very close to the highest quality vehicle builder in the world and wants to make it better.

What do the korean manufacturers do?

How about Ford and GM shit?

Keep your head in the sand guys.

  • LYING FAT FUCK

  • excellent work!

  • Although 2010 priuses v with optional Dynamic Radar Cruise Control also have a conventional cruise-control mode, vehicle-to-vehicle with a long-distance setting is the default mode when cruise control is activated. In vehicle-to-vehicle mode, speeds are set either by modulating the gas pedal and tapping down on the stalk at the desired moment, or by manipulating the stalk up or down then releasing.

  • Tapping the stalk upward boosts speed in 1 mph increments, but if the stalk is moved up and held, speed increases at 5 mph increments. The rate at which drivers can reach a desired speed using the stalk is much faster than if they accelerated via the gas pedal, taking about one second to advance every 5 mph increment.

  • You're rich, scrap it and buy a real car. Nobody buys into the scam that it's an environmentally friendly car anymore.

  • GM steering recall is really a Toyota PART Talk about a Conspiracy! Where is the media?!! Part defective is made by TOYODA MOTOR WORKS/ KOYO SEIKO!

  • Wozniak is gay

  • i thought it was called "fimeware"

  • You have the balls to call Wozniak an idiot.

Are you fucking crazy. Who are you Albert Einstein. If he thinks he found a software problem and you don't listen to him you are clearly the idiot. There is probably no man alive more qualified to diagnose a software problem than Steve Wozniak

  • @RichardE8ST No, clearly he doesn't have the balls. It's just to easy for some to blog before thinking.

  • what an idiot! such a dumb ass the people are actually laughing at him because. hes an idiot that dose not know how to use the cruise control and used up his 15 min to complain about how no one taught him how it works. first of all when you go to a dealer they test drive the car if they cant duplicate the prob then they have you test drive it with the mechanic. if a problem is found they give you a loaner and they find out how to fix it. if they cant fix it they call a engineer.

  • Why is he driving a Toyota? I am sure it would upset him if Apple customers started buying Sony VIAO computers by the millions.

  • I read somewhere that he just didn't understand how the cruise control works and Toyota had contacted him and explained everything. ABC even had printed the retraction.

  • The billionaire Apple Computer co-founder has retracted and apologized for a Monday night email to his Facebook support group in which he accused Dancing with the Stars' producers of potentially manipulating home viewer voting results to attract more viewers.

    * you really need to put the crack pipe down.

  • He's a fag. He would be singing praise if Toyota was using apple computer system instead

  • Wozniac: "it's using windows"

  • District Attorney Files Lawsuit Against Toyota:

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Prosecutors in Orange County, Calif., have filed a lawsuit against Toyota because of continuing problems with its vehicles.

The district attorney's office accuses the automaker of knowingly selling hundreds of thousands of vehicles with acceleration defects.

The office says it has the right to bring consumer protective action on behalf of Orange County residents.

  • Is that really how it works? It's on a laser and if nothing is in front of the car it will keep accelerating until you brake.

That is messed up even if it works right.

  • i think you have seen this already, but check it out:

    watch?v=oSCcC42G9DA

  • @Batmanshack

Yep - and a billionaire that's just been proven correct via the runaway Prius in San Diego yesterday! Yep - he's a real schmuck!

    FAIL!

  • Yep - it's just a publicity scam. Plain and simple. He's just an old fart looking for attention.

  • he doesnt undestand his own car. its called dynamic laser cruise on 2010 prius. if a cars in friont of you it wont speed up. as car moves away, car will get back up to speed, this is not a defect. READ THE OWNERS MANUAL.

  • @toyotapmgr

And he wasn't proven correct yesterday?

    (you're retarded)

  • wait till the results come out and we'll see whos retarded. Or go on keep believing the media smart guy.

  • I take everything the "media" portrays with a large grain of salt. On the other hand - basic logic usually isn't too far away, if you're willing to dig.

toyotapmgr > "READ THE OWNERS MANUAL."

Yes - we all understand your position, but you're kidding yourself if you think the Toyota manual says, "Once the cruise control detects no obstructions out to 400 feet in front of the vehicle - you may accelerate up to and including 94 mph."

Your statement, again, doesn't pass the logic smell test.

  • @ toyotapmgr yup, ys sir you are indeed correct,

    watch?v=c0ijPeWms-w

that guy explains it. when a car in front accelerates, you do to. when a car is no longer within the 15 degree area of the radar it thinks the car in front has sped up, thus causing suden acceleration...

obviously he didnt read the manual... what do you expect, old genius' think they know everything, well he does not.

  • Yep - and of course - Toyota would program the cruise control to propel the vehicle at 94 mph, right?

  • 94mph is the top speed of the Prius, electronically limited.

the radar will believe that the car originally in front has sped up, past the vantage point, and the radar on the cruise control tries to correct your speed.. the manual actually explains the new cruise control, the guy in that video link i posted even said, that the manual has to be read to understand it.

  • So let me get this straight - all Prius cars go 94 mph automatically - if you don't over-ride a radar controlled program?

Do you have any idea how ridiculous that logic path is? If Toyota designs this car to do that and doesn't make its buyers sign a waver and take safety classes for this reality - they're blatantly criminal.

I think you need to go back and take a walk through Mr. Logic's neighborhood.

If the E-Brake wouldn't automatically disengage the entire system - it's stupid.

  • did you not read what i said? 94mph is electronically limited... meaning thats as fast as the car goes, not that the cruise control takes you there automatically. every car has a limitd top speed. it mentions in the manual that the Prius follows a 15 degree angle of cars. buying a car is signing a waver, its the buyers responibility to understand the uses. when i bought a PS3 i read the manual to understand its uses. this guy is like everyone else manipulating the system.

  • I wouldn't know - I've only purchased about 45 cars in my life and not once did I have to sign a waver.

Comparing a vehicle to a PlayStation 3 is beyond stupid.

This is what you said: "when a car is no longer within the 15 degree area of the radar it thinks the car in front has sped up, thus causing suden acceleration..."

That's totally fucktard. The vehicle returns to its original speed - the one you set when going into that mode. You're pumping bullshit. The ECU's are DEFECTIVE!

  • if you go out and buy a Nissan GTR and you use the launch control on the same GTR in another way other than whats intended and you kill your transmission you think its Nissans fault? no its yours you use it according to the manual. you use the cruise control on the Prius by what is said in the manual, not by assuming its a normal cruise control. if you had seen that other vieo you would have seen that the guy had a suden acceleration cz the car in front was no longer in the 15 degree angle.

  • i wouldnt say the ECU's are defective, maybe the glitch is in the cruise control mechanism.

  • Does not the foundation of the vehicle's electrical system derive from the ECU?

I mean - how complicated would it be to have the entire vehicle shut down with the extreme application of the emergency brake?

I think maybe somebody within the corporation procured some really cheap chips from China and because there's five million vehicles already out on the road with these bum integrated circuits - the lawyers bet nothing major would ever come from the error.

    They were wrong.

  • multiple computers are being worked individualy but the ECU is the foundation.

actually its not suppose to be complicating for the emergency brake to shut done a vehicle... i really wouldnt say shut down, cuz it varies on vehicle, but even on the Prius when both accelerator and brake are pressed, then the vehicle is suppose to shut down...

  • they realize that they cant find something wrong, or somethin so small, so they manipulate the system to make matters worse, cuz they know they cant win. just like that professor, manipulated the system and has yet to explain how the wires and control box can be manipulated in the real world, with out a human disrupting it, by tearing it apart. i admit there is something wrong, 1. mechanical problem, there is no electrical problem Exponent has even come to that conclusion and 2. driver error.

  • Exponent was not an independent lab - it was a paid vendor - by Toyota.

The NTSB's going to have it's nuts bit off because they allowed Toyota to slide the first time - giving them a pass - and that's how you end up with 87 separate class action suits.

WAKE UP! This isn't going away.

  • 101-111 mph is the top speed, not 94 mph.

  • i just assumed 94, cuz on another video he said "it maxed out at 94mph" so that was my assumption.

  • Just buy Domestic problem over

  • Comment removed

  • brakes melted and fused to the rotors.

  • I am certain that several times in my life cruise control has bugged out on me and accelerated when I was not commanding that. I never use the hand controls for acceleration anyway. As a computer programmer, I think its a bad idea to computerize the fuel controls (from cruise, or the pedal).

  • @1000Sunz

How do you think the cruise control works in the first place?

  • I think what he is experiencing is not normal operation...he said it accelerates uncontrolably if he pushes the cruise control button...if you push accel. and release...it should only clock a few extra miles...not accelerate to whatever the car wants. Pushing the brake makes the computer stop accelerating the car...I believe it is a glitch in the software. The car should only accelerate infinitely if you HOLD the button.

  • Problems with asian made products is when a glitch happens they repeat it over and over . Nobody can dal with making a mistake. I worked withan an engineer named kong who created problems by his design when I told him a major problem may exist with wiring he freaked out and cursed me out. the project failed. He didn't understand duty cycle neither does toyota . Underload testing .the engineering firm what under do to his erra

  • Coming from a guy? that subscribes to Ron Paul and the Psyche Truth - I'd have to say things slowly and use one syllable words. So my advice to you is if you're scared of fly by wire and magnetic brakes bring an extra box of pampers for you and your mom next time you fly since all airlines use planes with the same systems.

  • Remember when Kristi Bradosky said in 1986 on 60 minutes that the Audi accelerated and killed her son? Do you remember George Russell Weller when he said he stepped on the brakes of his 92 Buick while killing 10 people on a sidewalk in 2003 - both of these people stated at the time the car accelerated and they tried to stop - both were completely wrong - science showed them to be at fault not the car - so please do your homework ! Science will solve this Toyota mystery, stories won't.

  • Why don't you take a look at their convoluted brake and accelerator design that relies on magnets before you say something totally retarded. That would be more "scientific." Thanks.

  • Too bad about Toyota. Quality control has clearly gone way down. A high tech car like a Prius requires extensive testing. The cars are getting too high tech to handle by us mere humans.

  • I blame two things,

    - American workers.

    - Drive by wire.

  • Toyota knew about software problems user ago or more, they issued a technical bulletin on RAV4 transmission problem, causing cars to suddenly not accellerare. Happened to my bff on the highway. Toyota & dealers don't have to notify car owners about the problem if it's a technical bulletin. Weasely way to do business. So these software problems are not news to them, now they just got enough bad publicity to take some action.

  • He's right. Government doesn't care about the "problem", it just wants to cast blame.

It's an oil company fueled, American auto maker driven, right wing fat cat sabotage plot. Waah-wahh-waah!

    Push the "OFF" button dummy!

  • Not only the soft, but looks like an EMC issue too ... depending of the magnetic filed comming from a cell phone, a high voltage line near the road and other the soft can hang up.

  • What he is experiencing is normal operation of the cruise control - There is no problem with any part - Any one who has had a stuck pedal that caused an accident can get a reward by seeing me - at carquestions.

  • Well tested software rarely goes wrong. It will go wrong less often than wires, pipes and hydraulics, which can leak and break.

  • Awesome talk

  • software to control acceleration and braking... big room for error.

  • @deejaykgb

Yeah you right. What the fuck ever happened to using cables and hydraulics to operate acceleration and brakes?

  • darwin awards for them. "waaa the accelerator got stuck and i just had no idea what to do to make the car stop! ... so i crashed" LOL

  • You like making up numbers? Where'd you get 16 from? Fear mongering is all this is and you're helping.

  • He's wrong anyway, it is 34.

  • I knew when I heard about him having problems he would be the one to solve them.

  • I have to wonder how many people know about this; clearly the technicians, maintenance people and mechanics that work on them must all be familiar with the problems in Toyota's cars. Why is Toyota claiming the issue is solvable with a shim under the pedal? Is there no feedback gathered? What are they doing in the dealership's own shop?! This is just too much of a glaring fubar to be a mere glitch. This is a total breakdown in communication within the organization.

  • the fact that he thinks a government agency will help solve problems is childish.

  • Your Steve bloody Wozniak!

Just take some of the iPhone money and make your own damn car or own damn car OS.

  • He's rich, but he's not that rich. Development cost for a new car model at an established company is well more than a billion dollars.

  • Oh come on, Apple is a MASSIVE company, they could do it with the money they use to buy new iThrones.

This is STEVE WOZNIAK! He built his first computer out of a garage. A car is too much of a stretch for him?

  • the Woz is awesome!!

  • Toyota should announce that all speeding tickets given to owners of their recalled vehicles are actually the companys fault. That might help their sales.

  • @planetdarwin, But if our world isn't sufficiently idiot-proof then idiots could be killed.

  • GHASP, and what a terrible thing that would be.

  • Steve Wozniak is a software writer, dumbass, he's not some "bitch" somewhere. He found a software glitch and he said it was reproducible, which means it's an actual error in the software code that has to be fixed.

  • I guess Steve Wozniak is more known for his hardware (apple II) than software. Other than that I agree.

PS. I love it when Toyota have to recall but only because I hate their smug ads where the act like they invented the wheel all by themselves. The cars are just boring, even if the quality is good (I assume).

  • re:redfingers

Correction - he SAYS he found a glitch. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Yeah, I guess people should just be glad they weren't the ones killed when they wonder if their car will go out of control.

  • Well you can go ahead and drive them - just don't drive closely behind me! lol

  • Hmm, and about American Spirit - to live? If they make good vehicles, than stand behind them and solve this issue - after a few death cases I'm sure is enuf to have an investigation regardless the make - just this time its pointing to Toyota - sorry if my ridiculous spirit is to live!

  • ha~

he should get apple to come up w/ an iphone apps that fixes this problem. maybe they could sell it to toyota and make some money...

  • Toyota is screwed. This happened to Audi back in the 80s and they pulled out of the US market for along time.

  • yea yea yea man cuz of one glitch they should close the whole fucking company

  • carbonseven1st, actually I thought about it. its not the same, Audi was getting sued be people that were getting hurt and killed by the problem. No one has gotten hurt by Toyota's problem yet. If they do, then they are screwed.

  • in which world are u living? great corporations NEVER,i tell u NEVER get screwed, by anybody...everyone else gets screwed by them

  • Wasn't there a whole family killed a while ago in a Lexus in San Diego.

  • OK, they are screwed. Look up, "Toyota recall: last words from a family killed as Lexus crashed"

  • hmm only one glitch? I see a few in the WHOLE lineup from brakes to accelerators to steering and weak frames.... and some causing death... is serious enough to look into - if anything if Toyota is not sure what is happening - should stop and try to find a solution instead of continuing like nothings wrong and making excuses

  • yes u r right :) but unfortunatelly and apparently its not the way it works in a business of great corporations

  • he looks bloated from HFCS.
