@MasterofTwilight07 Hell - Pharoahe Monch, Fantastic 4 - DJ Clue, Desperados - The Firm, Making A Name for Ourselves - Common, 4321 - LL Cool J, Beasts From The East - Lost Boyz. As has been stated theyre probly the best verses on the tracks but I think Puns verse on Fantastic 4 deserves a mention cos that wicked too. Peace.
i discovered Canibus by mistake & he became the first mc to significantly impress me & blow my mind with his lyrics undeniably one of the greatest to ever think of picking up a microphone.
Beasts from the east, Mathematically Aware and Desperados was just classic verses. Some of the best verses ever spit in my opinion. He ripped up ALOT of old Wu tang beats too. That material alone is a very good collection.
shroud of turin... A relic, preserved at Turin since 1578, venerated as the winding sheet in which Christ's body was wrapped for burial. It bears the apparent imprint of the front and back of a human body as well as markings that correspond to the traditional stigmata. Scientific tests carried out in 1988 dated the shroud to the 13th–14th centuries
I personally think Monch outdid him on Hell, but aside from that, yeah, Canibus completely murdered all of these tracks, especially Beasts from the East.
I keep waiting for somebody to find a way to highlight the amazing shit Canibus has dropped over the years - this is a good step toward it. When I listen to these verses, I literally feel embarrassed for other rappers, nobody else has that effect.
heyo i feel like i'm one of the livest, one of hip hops finest, elite rhymers and i plan to graduate with honors...but one day we'll all be a bunch of old timers with alzheimers looking at our labels roster wondering how in the fuck they forgot us
In order to get the full effect of how potent these verses really are, you have to hear it with the other rappers so you can clearly hear the difference between their style and his superiority over it. But when you just hear his verses, it's not as impressive as it could be because their is nothing to compare it to.
@Mensah9 man that part was murder.. i wish ever person that hates or doesnt like canibus would listen to that verse word up. canibus best emcee by farrrrrrr..................

Canibus has been outshinned by chino xl on i wish you would because hes on some goth emo shit these days with pl infinity
Well that's your opinion. But if Ras wasn't that good, why was Bis so amazed by his verse? I believe Bis' opinion about what's sick and what's not is relevant. I believe that too, Ras was fuckin ill.
Please re-read my comment, I said 'compared to' , yes he is good, but his rhyme schemes and the way his verse was written wasn't as good as bis', the whole freestyle went down hill after bis started rapping, not saying the other guys are bad(well krondon is lol) but comparing to bis' verse...not even close!

Canibus is better than all the emcee's he has ever collabarated with if you look at it lyrically, the dude is fucking insane i think he's from another planet
U prolly neva heard a Canibus single b4. Em n LL got u fooled cos right now u must think Canibus is weak MC.
Canibus on his own is nothin' but a monster, there4 puttin' him wit' other people just makes him a killA. Dat's somethin' rappers had 2 understand n dats y u can't see any1 featurin' Canibus anymore. He is 2 lyrical/raw 2 b on a song wit'.
I think he did the best on Beasts From The East. How he get away with rappin that much, embarrassed them niggas lol. Second best would be Making A Name of Ourselves and Fantastic Four. I dont think he beat Big Pun on Fantastic Four though, just different style.
Common & Canibus "Makin' a name for ourselves" Canibus totally outshined Common, and Common acctually said the he wished he would had re-wroted the entire song.
Canibus was nicer back in the late 90's and the very early 00's. But he is still ill today. He's just much harder to appreciate to the average fan. his beast are terrible tho, and that makes him much more difficult to listen to and enjoy. He uses terms and words that most people aren't familar with. His refrences are way over a lot of heads. Again, he isn't as good as he used to be, but still good.
Well I would have to say that he is better now than he was in the 90's. Beasts from the East was a good verse. But then that 4,3,2,1 and that Desperados verses werent that good even by the average fairly nice MC standard.
And he had lyrics in Can-I-Bus but they dont measure up to anything he spits now. If I bought Can-I-Bus back then I woulda thought he couldnt touch people like Nas, most of Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep, Redman, KRS, Rakim and other established lyricists.
Wow, I don't know about that.I though that he was good on 4321 and Desperados. Not his best, but still better than most emcees. And lets not forget all of his radio freestyles,Buckingham Palace and that song Mathematically Aware with Common.I think that he was way nicer than all of those guys you named back then. Now his flow isn't as smooth,he doesn't really have the battle lines any more, his bar format is more basic, overall he is still good, but past his prime.
Maybe he is past his prime. His prime was somewhere between 00-03. He had 2000 B.C. (which was in the 00's not the 90's, also when he was in his punchline prime). Then there is Mic Club and Rip the Jacker which were both about on the same level. Mic Club had lots of scientific and technical jargon to fill out the entirety of all those 100 bar verses but it never gets boring. Rip the Jacker is arguably illmatic level lyrics because it's like a Mic Club with shorter verses and better beats.
nah I gotta disagree with u on what u said bout canibus not being able to touch nas, rakim, mobb deep, most of the wu,& krs one in the 90s and u said his 4,3,2,1 & desperados verse wasn't that good wtf are we listening to he same lyrics here buddy Can-I-Bus was good to me lyrically production wasn't that bad as people make it out to be but come on he outshined the other mcs you listed any ways during the 90s and bout the wu the only ones he might have trouble with is gza, deck, and ghost but he'd win
there is more to rap than just lyricism. Production, appeal, artist compatibility, flow, etc..etc..
Even so, there are also many points in lyricism. It depends on what your looking for. Metaphors, a deeper message, savage verbs, consistancy...and more
so you cant really allow people that dwell in different areas of rap.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
WOAH! Rakim, Mobb Deep, KRS, and most of the WU I dont think I said. I know he would get them. Now he couldnt touch Nas, GZA, or Ghost back in the day (dont fight the truth).
Listen man, when Canibus is in his Mic Club/Rip the Jacker mode, he is on par with or better than Nas in his Illmatic/It was Written mode or GZA's Liquid Swordz/Beneath the Surface mode. But when he gets into his 2000 B.C. mode he is still incredible, just not in his peak. I agree with you on Can-I-Bus underrated though.
Stoupe and Canibus make VERY good shit together, RIp the Jacker is one of my fav albums of all time check it if u havent, the production n lyricism is perfect
I feel you on that...Bis' is one of my all time faves, but his ear for beats is terrible. Intelligence has nothing to do with it though...he just doesn't have that sense...same with Nas...he's one of my other faves, and his ear for beats can/have been terrible at times.
Rip the Jacker worked since 'Bis had no input with the production, since all he did was record the verses, and Stoupe modeled the beats around them...'Bis should just do that from now on...let the producers do the beats...
You did like a small collaboration tribute to the GREATEST MC OFF ALL TIME LITERALLY [CANIBUS] and i couldn't agree with you more when you said that he murders everybody he has ever collaborated with so far and he always have and most definitely always will forever, you feel me?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
canibus drops some weak albums(except rip the jacker), but he does rip these verses. I was thinking of all the potential he had a couple of days ago, and I heard some tracks from his upcoming album... its not good like at all.

Now he surpasses them!

KrfNYC 3 years ago
Maybe he is past his prime. His prime was somewhere between 00-03. He had 2000 B.C. (which was in the 00's not the 90's, also when he was in his punchline prime). Then there is Mic Club and Rip the Jacker which were both about on the same level. Mic Club had lots of scientific and technical jargon to fill out the entirety of all those 100 bar verses but it never gets boring. Rip the Jacker is arguably illmatic level lyrics because it's like a Mic Club with shorter verses and better beats.

2000 bc was in 1999. canibus prime was from 1998 2003. hes still nice as fuck tho. best rapper lyrically ever.

1997 should be there too, making a name for ourselves, beaats from the east, and the 50 mcs freestyle he killed
EazyCProductions9 3 years ago
96 should be there remember Music makes me high remix with the lost boyz and dogg pound and the battle he had with wu tang

nah I gotta disagree with u on what u said bout canibus not being able to touch nas, rakim, mobb deep, most of the wu,& krs one in the 90s and u said his 4,3,2,1 & desperados verse wasn't that good wtf are we listening to he same lyrics here buddy Can-I-Bus was good to me lyrically production wasn't that bad as people make it out to be but come on he outshined the other mcs you listed any ways during the 90s and bout the wu the only ones he might have trouble with is gza, deck, and ghost but he'd win

there is more to rap than just lyricism. Production, appeal, artist compatibility, flow, etc..etc..
Even so, there are also many points in lyricism. It depends on what your looking for. Metaphors, a deeper message, savage verbs, consistancy...and more
so you cant really allow people that dwell in different areas of rap.

I agree with you on Can-I-Bus underrated though.

thing about Canibus is... no question he's a great, great MC. but if he's so damn smart....... why can't he pick a fucking beat??!

holy shit, i think the same shit!

That's what I always say. Just give the effing tapes to Stoupe and don't disturb him. Haha.

canibus drops some weak albums(except rip the jacker), but he does rip these verses. I was thinking of all the potential he had a couple of days ago, and I heard some tracks from his upcoming album... its not good like at all.
