this album is so incredibly beautiful, i was holding my tears back the whole way through from the shear beauty, and when it came to this song i just started crying. it's so indescribably beautiful.
J. Tillman and Paddy Mann, hell yeah. Love them both. Mann's the best lyricist going these days and also the best artist in his category at deftly incorporating strings and other orchestral frills. His album "Death," which this song comes from, may be the best concept album ever, certainly the best story album I'm familiar with.
not that my opinion is that important...but I truly feel that Paddy Mann (Grand Salvo) and J. Tillman are the two most wonderful songwriters alive today.

@ryhisner Also, Paddy has a great voice. It really shines live. He doesn't try to blow you away with it, but it has real presence and beautiful tone.
