I was born with this. I have the equal education of anyone else, can perform any tasks. doctors said i probably wouldnt drive, now I drive firetrucks for a living. Surgery is an option but not worth the risks. just dont let the naive comments of others ever get you down.
I have nystagmus, and I'm legally blind. I'm glad there is more information about it to inform people what it is. People are very cruel and I was teased for it daily. I hope people learn to keep their mouths shut, because if you were in the same situation you wouldn't want to be teased for something you can't help. He's an adorable kid. :)
I'm a nursing student and all of the comments and this video really helped me understand nystagmus, thank you! And good luck to you and your cute kiddo, proud of you for teaching him to read even though it's hard for him; that is a huge accomplishment for kids with regular vision these days, let alone a child with an eye condition. Kudos!!
I have congenital nystagmus also. It makes things hard, but I hope everything goes alright for your son. He seems to do better than I do. If I'm tired I can't seem to see anything correctly, and if I look at something too long it does start moving back and forth.
I hope that your son is recognized for what he has, because not a lot of people seem to consider how I see things, not even my teachers.

Omgeeee The Baby Iss Sooo Cute ! , I Also Have Nystagmus there's two diffrent types congential & pothiclogical Nystagnus which means the neurouns of thee nervous system has an logicaldisorder due to low vision people that has nystagmus but you can drive but with an eye doc permit & its also surgery but to only decrease the amount but it cannot cause a person to go blind
Sometimes it can be treated. Contact lenses sometimes help. Sometimes prism glasses or bifocals can decrease the amount. There are some vision therapy techniques that can be tried too. If you haven't investigated these options, try an evaluation by a developmental optometrist.
Hi there, I'm 23 and have RP, had cataract surgery a year ago and have had Nystagmus all my life. For me, when my eyes are shaking, EVERYTHING I see is shaking too, it gives me headaches and is painful. It is interesting that he does not notice it, because I can also feel my eyes shaking. How is his vision overall?
lots of people as me if objects are moving or are the still i say the same thing he said "still" lol and it's true everything is still and when i look at myself in the mirror i don't see my eyes moving. i do get dizzy when i'm focused on something for a long period of time like if i'm reading or when i'm driving at night. i've never met any one that has CN and i'm the only one in my family that has CN
My Son is 18 and has Nystagmus. I had never heard of it until he was diagnosed. I was worried about things like would he be able to drive and how it would affect him as he got older. I am happy to say he is just about to go in for his driving test and was told yesterday that he is eligible to join the Police DESPITE the condition....he is a healthy, happy young man no different from his friends. : )))

I have it too and I'm now 14 years old. My eyes also moved that fast when I was his age. And I had no trubble with reading just like he.
But the nystagmus has become less over the years:) So maybe it can become less with him too!
