Sure, pushing iraq was a bad idea, but pushing healthcare and draining hard-working Americans' is sooo much better, right? Wrong, pushing healthcare will only make Liberals happy thus 'ignoring the other party like Bush' (to quote you). You're always so quick to insult Bush, while you hipocritically pressure Obama to do the same exact things that you criticize Bush of. You should re-examine your views.
@TheBam1515 I get your point, but to be fair to Cenk he did say Obama shouldn't do it all the time. The real point was that when a large majority of Americans are in favour of something, as in 65%, you shouldn't let the other 35% outshout you. To be clear, I don't know what the specific approval for the healthcare bill is or was at the time this was made. The other main difference is that Cenk is pretty much a Liberal, but is critical of a Liberal president. Republicans put Bush on a pedastal.

@TheBam1515 I'm not really either Republican or Democrat really since I'm English. @phillipmarch22 Yeah i mean its going to be great paying for your liberal ass in the hospital and making my kid pay back all the money you and your party waste.
@quentinapple Oh, I pay for my own ass, it is your ass you should worry about. Think you have good insurance? Just wait till you get really sick. Think you have a secure job, even if your self employed? Think again. People like you have a bad case of, "Oh, that won't happen to me". Be careful what you say amigo, you just might someday end up in the hospital and someone elses ass will have to pay for youJ !
I wouldn't even be worried about you neo-con kids paying for my liberal ass in the hospital. They will first have to pay China the 3 TRILLION dollars we owe them for the needless, senseless, and illegal war in Iraq. The cost of this health care reform is the least of their debt problems.
@yeaidoubledip o is he not Muslim? Did Americans not vote him into office? clearly you are the ignorant one... you are prob just mad because you voted for him like an idiot. O HOWS THAT WORKIN OUT FOR YA? hahahaha.
Did you read that in the protocols of zion you Nazi crackpot...
The young Turks were Turks, and did commit the Armenian genocide, Jews had nothing to do with it, and there is no relation between Obama and Dick Cheney.
thats why we voted for bush!!!!! he got his work done! he didn't waste his time worrying about what fox and the internet was saying. good ideas or not, he kept his eye on the ball and did what he thought was important
Obama is Bush all over again. The people of this country need to excercise their constitutional right to "Alter or Abolish it, and institute new government".
I will vote for OBAMA.. . You REPUBLICANS need to STAY OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE!!! If were McPain were in office, WE WOULD BE at war with IRAN right now!!! Stupid repukelican morons got us in this mess. It will take ANOTHER Democrat... AGAIN to get us out again!!!
Really??? Wow!!! What a response.. considering the MORON who put us there on FALSE PRETENSES WAS BUSH!!! LOL!!! THAT IS FUNNY!!! It is clear to me that you are a LOT like bush.. A COMPLETE IDIOTIC MORON!!!!!
we ARE at war with iran you idiot... he is currently sendiing more troups to iran... STILL AT WAR. and obama hasn't done one thing since his election but SAY what he was gonna do and complain about what the internet and the news are saying about him... what idiot would vote for him?
well maybe because the sighned up for the army they knew tey were gunu go to Afghanistan and defend our country 90 percent of soldiers voted for john mccain you guys are stupid "o take them out of iraqu so we can get bombed again.
America needs a single payer system. If the public option passes the republicans will do everything they can to undermine the program just like they do to abortion. They'll block access to the program from citizens and they will underfund it. Then when they cause a crisis in the program those republicans will say "look we said a public option was a bad idea". A single payer system is the best choice for Americans for health care and to control costs.
Lol I am a hard working American. I could assume all day about you being a condescending pig born into a rich family so he feels like he's accomplished something, or a stupid couch-potato republican who only knows how to parrot Limbaugh and Beck, but I don't have to. You're an idiot and I don't care which particular brand.
And I'm not even a Dem, asshole, but I sure as hell will never be a GOP.
In 2008 Hawaii introduced a universal health plan for children. But it was ended 7 months later.
It turned out that those who already had health insurance for their kids canceled their plans so that their kids could qualify. The govt system was overwhelmed so they ended it. Wouldn't that happen on a national level?

1:40 this dildo talks about Obama being bi-partisan and how the public option is the right thing to do. For starters u need to get some facts straight, Obama has not met or included the republican party since he has been in office. That was just till recently when HIS healthcare plan bombed and was gonna raise serious taxes and put the country in more debt. Congress focused on that and said it was wrong now they are reforming healthcare with no public option. Which saves us tax payers asses!
Cenk is an armchair politician who thinks Obama should ignore Americans and start a civil war over healthcare Americans havent been this fired up in I dont know how long...and Obama is NOT popular his poll numbers have dropped so much that he is afraid of losing next time around

Finally Cenk sees through the smoke screens of Politics in America. The fact that Congress has been hijacked by Financial Enterprises and Corporate Lobby Groups who implements the false Left/Right Paradigm.
This is the problem with being too nice, you can't please people that come up with ideas like Death Panels, they are not even making logical arguments how can you reason with them? BTW the best explanation on death panels was by a Bill Moyers guess look for it it's worth it
I'm an american, and I can't stand the general population of americans. You know why? Because they have no fucking clue what they are talking about. Read half of these comments, wtf are you serious. Comparing the Iraq war to World War II, really?
Collins & Specter can be kinda slimey. Snowe is tough & moral. I can disagree with her but I do not fear her. For that matter, I'd rather have Chafee then Nelson, Bayh & Baucus.
I think people tend to forget that we PUT Saddam in power. So we caused that problem. We caused the majority of the current problems in the middle east because of our meddling. Saddam wasnt just a son of a bitch, he was our son of a bitch until he pissed us off. And people wonder why muslims hate the American Government.

Bush liberated Iraq, the war was worth it. Anybody think getting involved in WW2 was a bad idea?
This guy has little to no clue. Presidents are elected to work for the people, NOT to push their own ideas through because they're "RIGHT", who determines if they're RIGHT or WRONG?
REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY.
NOT FASCISM,
NOT DICTATORSHIP
NOT COMMUNIST.
THIS COUNTRY IS BUILT ON THE FACT THAT ONE MAN CANNOT "PUSH LEGISLATION DOWN THROATS"........
we live in a republic i.e. you elect government, government does what it needs to do without asking your opinion. We do not live in a Greek-style democracy.
The definition of Republic = state without a king. A republic has nothing to do with representative democracy. Some Americans started to mix up the words hundreds of years ago and now it has spread. However, read the exact definition.
("Greek style democracy"...what the fuck are you talking about? The democratic system in Greece nether was a grassroot democracy or whatever, the ruling economic class also was the ruling political class)
@skobichevskii We are not a republic Franklin said we should a republic but no we are not we are suppose to be a democracy. Look up the republican party democrates and republicans both eqaul Democracy in the end. Without both parties we are a republic. Only state government should be a republican form of government.
I think you make the point that Obama should push through on health care because it is worth it.
I hate to say it but I wish Hillary would give Obama a little pep talk, something tells me she wouldn't fret so much about making nice across the isle on this one.
What a retarded comment. Most people support government healthcare. It's been proven to be more successful than our current system in the great majority of times.
The government is full of educated people that understand the scope of the laws and what they'll entail. That's why we have representatives in the government rather than voting on everything ourselves...
Oh yes, the Obama government is full of smart educated people like John Holdren who wants forced abortions and sterilization for population control, or Van Jones the self avowed communist and 9/11 conspiracy nutball, or Cass Sustien who wants animals to be able to sue people (I think that was a SNL skit)... oh yes the government is full of geniuses...
These morons couldn't handle a simple cash for clunkers program and you think they can do healthcare?
It is a slam against the stupidity and wreckless arrogance of the Bush administration. Bush trampled our values, The constitution and the Bill of Rights, eventhough 65% of Americans opposed the war in Iraq Cheney said "so what". Bush and Cheney wrecked the economy!! THat's leadership????
that's hilarious. the thing libs HATED about Bush "you're either with us or against us", is now what you propose. Maybe you're discovering Bush was actually a good, strong president! Could it be that Obama is just incompetent? Maybe having executive experience IS important for a President? Obama is all over the map, on Honduras, Health Care, Cap and Tax, you name it. He's an empty suit, folks.
He's not an empty suit but his strengths and weaknesses pretty much come from the same place. Obama is an excellent diplomat. He wants to be everybody's friend. But I'm afraid Arnold had a point--he's a little bit of a girly-man. Obama's best presentation in the primaries was when he was kicking tail on the basketball court. Now he tries to be friends with everyone & some people aren't friendly.
wow you actually pay attention to a poll that is voted on by 100,000 people in a country of a couple 100 million? people are knuckle heads their impatiant and greedy as soon as it seems its taking forever they start whining and moaning who cares about some dumb ass approval rating. this dude has to undo 8 to 16 years of bullshit that bush and clinton did and your jumping all over some approval rating in the 8th month of a 4 year presidency? please....
Oh, ignorant one. I didn't even mention a specific poll. If you go off of the highest sample poll, Obama actually has a 70% DISapproval rating. I'm not even saying that one, I'm talking about the "scientific" polls-you know, the ones that you and your ilk constantly used to "prove" that Bush was unpopular. You can't have it both ways, asshomie.
I don't ask that he undo it all immediately, but don't add to it, Biraq Obama!
The problem with comparing Obama and 'W' is that the Republican voters are more like children in that they respond to a 'stong leader',even if that 'leader' was Adolph Hitler. The Democrat voters are more individual-thinking and, unfortunately, more critical. That is why Obama seems like he's not moving like Bush.
Obama has been a disappointment ever since he said he wouldn't prosecute the torturers. And he hasn't bounced back since.
Barry doesn't have what it takes and that was what I feared all along. Charisma is fine, but all those promises of bipartisanship never sat well with me even when the race was still on. It was time to push back against the Bushites, and he never claimed he'd do that.
you figured all that out in 8 months of a 4 year presidency? keep watching your goverment ran media. no body will prosecute anyone because if they fuck up they dont want the same blade to slice them. thats small crap compared to the other problems if you ask someone out of work would they rather get back to work or see some people get prosecuted and never go to jail they will laugh at some dog and pony show court crap.
that is the most legitimate gripe I could see anybody having with Obama. He is actually bi-partisan to a fault - and they STILL CALL HIM A NAZI. Might as well get some shit done if that's what they are gonna call you anyway.
His arguement makes sense. The problem is that he's saying that Obama needs to dumb himself down, and anyone who is intelligent knows that it's very difficult to do that. Bush won with a negative margin in 2000 and a small margin in 2004. Bush was "unsmart" enough to think that everyone loved him. Obama won by a very large margin, but he still understands that not everyone in the nation agrees with him, so he's being very cautious. I think he wants to please everyone. Bush was never that noble..
Very true. I doubt Bush even knew what the consequences of his methods were. Obama on the hand is a HLS grad. He must be cringing when he thinks about reconciliation in the senate.
you have a really good point and I dont think you are exploiting it well enough so I will
bush was stupid and his ignorance gave him power. often the ability to judge chances and possibilities prevents you from even trying. obama is Mr. safety. and thats going to kill him. unless he swings for it, this is a one term president we are looking at
be what George Bernard Shaw called the unreasonable man. fight to the death, he thinks he can triangulate this thing. he cant
If not now, when? Exactly, have not seen it thus far! Maher is stating you have the authority to get after it. Simple fact'od. Too many folks working their own pocketbook. How do you deal with, stand on your principals!
Uh, democrat isnt some political philosophy, its a party that Maher is registered too.
"Because the Democrats control both houses, Maher argues that significant health care reform should be accomplished within the first year or two of Obama's presidency, before the mid-term elections.[19][20]"
Yes he does vote for the Democrats, why would that be... Oh yeah, he doesn't have a choice! America doesn't have a Liberal or Libritarian party, it only has Dem and Rep, thats it. Silly me, thinking that there are more than two ways of thinking, I forgot I'm talking to an American, most of which find more than 2 choices confusing and scary. Which is why you've allowed your nation to form into a 'bipartisan' One party system.
It does have a libertarian party, and he chose a complete asshat that wasnt even a libertarian as their presidential candidate last time. Not that the Democrats or Republicans are any good themselves.
As for complaining about two parties, you're preaching to the choir. But you're a moron for saying he's a libertairan and not a democrat, when he's a registered democrat, and that you can uh be a libertarian and a democrat.
Also, Obama can use his growing popularity in the media. Use the Congressman's constituency against him or her. Spell his plan out for the voters, explain how it benefits them, then call out the Congress for failing to act on a bill that helps them. Call out Congress publically. Pelosi caved in to Bush we he wanted more war funding. Why, because he called them out and made them look foolish, and he did this publically.
Eh...no it isn't, drugs don't address root causes, only the problem at hand, which will later make the problem worse after the chemicals stop their magic, the toxic residue builds up in fat cells and slowly kills you.
Marijuana isn't anymore harmful then smoking ciggerettes. They try to scare you with that crap when you're in school... but people who want to legalize it, and other drugs aren't arguing that drugs are safe/good for you, they're arguing that prohabition has never worked (eg alcohol), doing that just creates dangerous gangs/violence. Regulation always works better then prohabition.
Honestly? These days the president has no power because they're fucking puppets. Corporations have the REAL power. Thats why shit hardly changes in this country even when new presidents are elected.
The reason Obama isn't using his political capital is because if all the crap he wants to do goes through, EVERYONE will hate him. And I've seen statistics saying that Obama is more like 50% approval.
legalization of marijuana isnt a dumb idea, considering you can make cheaper paper with it, scientists would be able to study its medical purposes more closely, and the government could tax the fuck out of it. Just to name a few things.
manned mission to mars however is a waste of money at this juncture.
Why is the media STILL making fun of Bush? Come on, people, Obama is not the black Jesus. Obama does not go for bipartisanship,; he invites the GOP over for beer, pampers them, and then throws their ideas away. Can we not see through him and look at the socialist agenda he is pushing? Government control 1-0-1 people. They won't let banks pay back TARP money, they own America's largest auto industry, and they want to freaking have our health insurance. F em.
I really don't get why Bush is still targeted. If people had been supportive of Iraq it could have actually improved our economy. Also, they should have just let companies die. Maybe it's just me but, I feel if you go bankrupt, it's your fault. All the people filing for bankruptcy should get the bailouts, not the banks that just absorb and horde the money. They aren't going to actually use it and will still go under.
What you're saying doesn't make sense in the world of economics. You have to understand that the banks are holding the money and without them, these people and their money do not exist to the federal reserve.
What are you talking about? You think that them just holding onto the money is HELPING? It's just taking another 800 billion from our government to keep banks who obviously can't run, alive in the economy. Their job is nothing but money, and they RAN OUT! Tell me ONE way it makes any sense to give them more. I feel that everyone should ONLY get what they earn.
What, the whole process of business makes it unstable? Well maybe you should think that if they've done this once, they can do it again. We can just let them go out of business and deal with a depression until we find other supporting finances or we can do what Obama has done and everyone will get 30% higher taxes, but that's IF everyone paid taxes. Since we have tons of illegals and tons of others who don't pay, those of us who do pay will be getting hit with even HIGHER percentages.
Governemnt 101, THEY ALREADY CONTROL EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR LIFE, AND HAVE FOR DECADES NOW. WAKE UP! REMEMBER, BUSH BEGAN THESE BAILOUTS. THIS ISN'T JUST A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN ISSUE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 PARTIES ARE THE DIFFERENCES WE GIVE THEM. THEY ARE 1 AND THE SAME.
Obama is a puppet and a damn good one . I pray our country can recover from everything Bush has done and all Obama us already started . I miss Ronald Reagan and Bil Clinton , who else is saying that lol.

He's not an empty suit but his strengths and weaknesses pretty much come from the same place. Obama is an excellent diplomat. He wants to be everybody's friend. The problem with comparing Obama and 'W' is that the Republican voters are more like children in that they respond to a 'stong leader',even if that 'leader' was Adolph Hitler. The Democrat voters are more individual-thinking and, unfortunately, more critical. That is why Obama seems like he's not moving like Bush.

windasman 2 years ago
Obama has been a disappointment ever since he said he wouldn't prosecute the torturers. And he hasn't bounced back since.
Barry doesn't have what it takes and that was what I feared all along. Charisma is fine, but all those promises of bipartisanship never sat well with me even when the race was still on. It was time to push back against the Bushites, and he never claimed he'd do that.
Shavarnarak 2 years ago 5
you figured all that out in 8 months of a 4 year presidency? keep watching your goverment ran media. no body will prosecute anyone because if they fuck up they dont want the same blade to slice them. thats small crap compared to the other problems if you ask someone out of work would they rather get back to work or see some people get prosecuted and never go to jail they will laugh at some dog and pony show court crap.
getyoasshome 2 years ago
that is the most legitimate gripe I could see anybody having with Obama. He is actually bi-partisan to a fault - and they STILL CALL HIM A NAZI. Might as well get some shit done if that's what they are gonna call you anyway.
suburbancamo 2 years ago 6
His arguement makes sense. The problem is that he's saying that Obama needs to dumb himself down, and anyone who is intelligent knows that it's very difficult to do that. Bush won with a negative margin in 2000 and a small margin in 2004. Bush was "unsmart" enough to think that everyone loved him. Obama won by a very large margin, but he still understands that not everyone in the nation agrees with him, so he's being very cautious. I think he wants to please everyone. Bush was never that noble..
Steppenwolf27 2 years ago 3

Also, Obama can use his growing popularity in the media. Use the Congressman's constituency against him or her. Pelosi caved in to Bush we he wanted more war funding. Why, because he called them out and made them look foolish, and he did this publically.

F em.
AddLamb314 2 years ago
I really don't get why Bush is still targeted. If people had been supportive of Iraq it could have actually improved our economy. Also, they should have just let companies die. Maybe it's just me but, I feel if you go bankrupt, it's your fault. All the people filing for bankruptcy should get the bailouts, not the banks that just absorb and horde the money. They aren't going to actually use it and will still go under.
TangoCharlie3 2 years ago
What you're saying doesn't make sense in the world of economics. You have to understand that the banks are holding the money and without them, these people and their money do not exist to the federal reserve.
CrazyStuffStudios 2 years ago
What are you talking about? You think that them just holding onto the money is HELPING? It's just taking another 800 billion from our government to keep banks who obviously can't run, alive in the economy. Their job is nothing but money, and they RAN OUT! Tell me ONE way it makes any sense to give them more. I feel that everyone should ONLY get what they earn.
