  • I enjoyed this movie, Thank you~!

  • loved the coronation it was one of my favourite parts !

  • Once a king in Narnia, Always a king in Narnia!

  • @thekorw Once a Queen in Narnia, Always a Queen in Narnia! ;)

  • i actually lived in england when these came out, so this movies brings me back to a simpler time, and it also makes me miss england, it was so classy and had such rich culture and history

  • Okay for everyone saying this SERIES is more detailed than the movie, of course this show is more detailed, after all it is a SERIES in which more time is given for detail. Disney couldn't possibly fit all of CS's brilliant work in one movie. Think before you say.

  • I must say, I love William, Anna, Skandar and Georgie more. The new Pevensie's crowns are better.

  • I'm 14 years old (15 in december) and I like this much more than the new version (although I've only seen the first of the new ones).

  • thx for uploading these. I haven't seen these since I was a kid. Watching this show again reminds me of the sundays when I was a kid.

  • The music made these movies, I must say. The part when the crowns appear and descend onto their heads is so magical. It sums up why these movies are so brilliant

  • "Look !" "Ahahah" WTF ?

  • Thank you. Reminds me of when I first saw the VHS version in 2002. Narnia FOREVER!

  • That's super creepy when I think about it now. To go from your 30s back to a kid.

  • Sweet! Just finished all six episodes. Thanks for the upload and for the opportunity to reminisce!

  • When Mrs Beaver's voice says "When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone, sit at Cair Paravel in throne, the evil time will be over and done" while the Pevensies play in the sea and giggle, she reminds me a bit of the Teletubbies narrator saying, "Over the hills and far away ... Teletubbies come out to play." Just the way she says it.

  • Wish BBC had written to Abba and asked them to be the grown-up Sons and Daughters of Adam and Eve ruling Narnia. Though as youths Lucy should have been the blonde one and Susan should have been the tall brunette or darker.

  • i liked the ending of the disney version better. it was more magical.

  • I like the 2005 version better.

  • well that was a lively cheer after they were crowned

  • Thankyou HeathenMaiden, I have just watched all 6 Episodes and was instantly taken back to my childhood and given a warm fuzzy feeling inside that I rarely experience these days :D x

  • @JuJuDolly It was my pleasure! :D I'm taken back to my childhood whenever I watch these series too. I sure know that warm, fuzzy feeling! That's why I created this nostalgia channel in the first place. :)

  • I always thought this was a wedding when I was a little kid and I was horrified

  • Childhood memorie's, i have this film on VHS, i still love it!! : ).

  • Did BBC do a Magician's Nephew movie after this?

  • is it just me, but does anyone feel a subtle incest vibe from this scene? especially when they link arms. or when they sit on the thrones and they are in pairs on different sides.

  • still I think the movies are way better since this was televised 7 years before I was born .

  • The Professor looks a little bit like Lewis. But if he's anything like him, I wouldn't want to be in his class.

  • I love everything to do with Narnia. The 2005 film is what got me to start reading the books. Yes, they're a bit different to the books, but all movie adaptations of books usually change a bit. I watched the BBC LWW and I love them just as much as the modern films.

  • Narnia can't be all that healthy if it makes them forget where they came from in the first place...

  • good to watch this again. has aged rather well to be fair to it. Disney version or no Disney version.

  • i love this version as they made a great movie with what little SX they had.

  • I love the new ones better though voyage of the dawn treader was well, a total let down! hmm these are nice though! :)

  • Thank you HeathenMaiden for posting this. I had forgotten how much I liked this version over Disney's.

  • @GetRealGoneCARS You're most welcome. I'm only happy that I'm not alone in preferring these over the Disney films.

  • @HeathenMaiden I prefer the Disney films, but wouldn't have if these had been made with a bigger budget.

CGI would not have been necessary. Conan the Barbarian had no CGI. Just a film budget, and a little better of actors.

  • @DarkLordVegeta Conan also had THE SECRET OF STEEL!!!

  • @TomMSTie1138 Flesh is stronger.

  • @DarkLordVegeta You ain't my father, Thulsa!

  • @TomMSTie1138 Forgive them Crom. They know not what they do!

  • @DarkLordVegeta ...um..., KNEEL BEFORE ZOD! Sorry, I got nothing.

  • @TomMSTie1138 It's OK. I stole that last one from the Nostalgia Critic anyway.

  • @DarkLordVegeta Oh okay. ZUUL M----F----! ZUUL!

  • @HeathenMaiden These are classic. Disney's is for money. These were for children. Makes a big differece. Thank you for posting these.

  • @Ryhela I don't think that Disney's were for money. I think that Andrew Adamson had a vision and wanted to see it through. Maybe the production side wanted money, but I have read everything that Adamson had to say about the movies and I genuinely believe that HE wanted to do them because he loved the story and had some great ideas. Nothing wrong with that.

  • @Ryhela Disneys was better money has nothing to do with it the acting in this adaption is what you would see in a school play ,the ages of the characters are totally wrong there is supposed to be a 6 year age gape between susan and lucy and they could have tried a little better in the cgi department the cgi is what you would see in a 1930 movie like king kong or the wizard of oz im sure they had better cgi in the late 1980

  • No offense but lol, I don't like fat ass queens...

  • I brought the Chronicles of narnia BBC version The lion and witch and Wardrove Prince Caspian and the voyage of Dawn Trader and the silver Chair from dollar General for 12.50 It on dvd. It kinda hard to find that i tried to find another one. I might talk to movie place to see if they can get what i brought in.

  • So many magic moments with this film! Thank you! I still watch it in christmas time :)

  • I remember watching this series in grade 2 in 2002. I thought this series was the coolest thing ever (now that I look back on it, I still think this is a great series! Albeit the graphics aren't great but it takes me back ^_^

  • Thankyou for uploading the old bbc Chronicles of Narnia films they are good. Also they bring back good memorys.

  • i like this proffessor better than the disney version:)

  • I love the small biblical references they make in they Narnia series.

It's also a reason, I think, why Disney gave The Voyage of the Dawn Treader to 20th Century.

*SPOILER ALERT!!! LOOK AWAY FROM THE SCREEN!!! SCROLL AWAY!!! SCROLL AWAY!!!*

At the end of the Dawn Treader novel, the Pevensies ask if they'll ever see him again in our world, and Aslan replies "You will in time, but there I am known by another name." Maybe that's why Mr. Beaver says he has other countries to attend to?

  • @FurikakeHappy You should read the book Finding God in the Land of Narnia.

  • I like the old and new versions for diff reasons. Old: special effects and 80s "cheese" factor make me laugh, but I like its charm and faithfulness. Also like this Susan way more. New: I like the other three children better, especially the dynamic between Peter and Lucy (he's really big brotherish). I don't like the old Lucy, not because of how she looks, but because she seems the same age as the other three (Georgie's adorable, clearly shorter and younger than the other three, more Lucyish).

  • Thanks lot for these great uploads, can't believe its 20 years since last watched these and i've enjoyed every minute of it.

  • Dammit, 17 years later and the theme STILL makes me weep.

  • i love the way the crown floats on their heads

  • Great series, thanks for uploading! Though it would've been interesting if when they returned from the wardrobe they were essentially adults back in kid's bodies - I mean, they technically grew up, and even spoke to each other like medieval monarchs. They burst through the wardrobe and suddenly that's all gone, like it never happened, and they're talking like kids again? Then again, I seem to remember it being the same in the book.

  • so they grew up in Narnia coz they stayed so long..... then shouldnt they be adults when they return to Narnia in Prince Caspian??

  • @ccsays well in fact if you stay over a hundred years in Narnia, and you return to our world, the time is still the same when you left.

  • what are they so old at the end that they're senile or smthg and can't even remember the lampost?! LOL

Regardless, after reading the books in GRADE 6 over 12 years ago, I watched this version and fell in love with its timeless charm..and I will forever love this version over the newer movie..regardless of the little glitches, which i found endearing

  • Wait. Was the professor suggesting to Peter, Susan, Edmund & Lucy that he has been to Narnia before as well when he was younger? Forgive me because I have only read this book out of the series.

  • @NumOneJoeJonasLuver Yes, he was. If you read "The Magician's Nephew", it says the proff, Digory Kirke, as a little boy was in narnia when it first came to be, and the wardrobe was made from a tree that grew then got knocked down by wind from an apple he planted in his backyard, and the apple had come from Narnia (loong story), and the wood was used to build the wardrobe, hence it's magical ability to transport to Narnia..

  • @ammarios Ahh thank you so very much!!

  • Ah, good ol' BBC Narnia, I remember watching these way back when I was little. I always thought it was adorable who the boys led their sisters to the thrones...I was always trying to get my brothers to do that for me with the dinner table....let's just say it never worked. Even though this isn't my favorite version of Narnia out there, it is just adorable, and good for nostolgic purposes.

  • Thanks so much for the upload! :)

  • Lol it looks so modern!!

  • i love mr ketterly

  • i love it when peter strokes his chin always have always will :) and i think this bears repeating... I love Professor Kirke!! :)

  • the beach scene is cute.

  • Well them being crowned just spoils the whole movie. And their costumes are weird looking. Do they want to match or something? And i dont like this mr tumnus. i like the other one better. EWW THEIR CROWNS ARE BLECH!!

  • @luvytaylor yes, yes they did want to match. That was pretty common...

  • peter and susan look so cute as king and queen on their thrones <3

    like at old pictures :)

the end is nice... I like the professor!

  • Their are very suttle references to incest in this scene

  • @kingdom True, which isn't much worse than the references in the new version to Lucy & Mr. Tumnus at the end of the movie... at least he's not close to the age he is in the BBC version... I don't think he'd make any moves on her while she is young o.O

  • @Sinnybee there aren't any 'references' there might be scenes that can be construed that way but it is not a 'reference' when it doesn't exist!!!!

  • @Kaladelia lol... I'm talkin about right after they've been crowned I believe, at the end of the new LWW, with Tumnus walkin along the beach and Lucy gazing down at him from Cair Paravel and them smiling at one another... I dunno... the scene kinda alarmed me lol... I mean it didn't bother me (Tumnus is cute enough) but it seemed 'over the top', and yes, seeming to hint at a possible future romance interest.

  • @Sinnybee i knew what scene you were talking about. and when i say a 'reference' has to exist i mean it has to be intentional. For example, in the 4th HP movie, Cedric and Harry give off a lot of gay vibes... while that might be something audience members see in the movie it is not a reference nor is it a hint. however, tumnus/lucy vibes from that last scene can be seen by audience but again i highly doubt it was intentional.

  • @Kaladelia hmm... imo, sometimes in the HP movies Harry's facial expressions might give a gay vibe, but I think Cedirc/Harry is too far of a stretch, though the Harry gay spoof videos are funny.

  • @Kaladelia Also, I swear the scene had a certain parallel to the one right before when Susan and Caspian kiss, although I admit Lucy's and Susan's 'at the moment' faces seemed to be quite different, of close friendship and near lust, respectively.

  • @Sinnybee and i disagree w/ the parallels but to each their own... and that could partly be that i immensely disapprove of Caspian/Susan so that could be another factor. and i feel that lucy/tumnus goes no further then friendship though i do admit much to my annoyance my very perveted brain wants to try to construe more out their relationship....

  • @Kaladelia I guess my bottom line is that it should have been easy to pick something a little less than romantic gentle waves in the background with Tumnus looking up to admire Lucy etc... I mean I didn't have to watch the scene more than once to guess that it was more likely a hint to the imagination of the audience than a directing mistake. Although...maybe it was just my very perverted brain in charge when I was watching LWW ;)

  • @kingdomofdalriada not really...

  • ok i can understand likin this cuz its from a different era but truly the newer one is better.

  • its called 3d animation, if you fall for that crap, but I hate it.

  • so is the proffesor aslan then

  • sounds like it

  • Good Heavens, no.

The Professor is Digory Kirke. He was there when Aslan created Narnia.

You need to read the Magician's Nephew for his whole story, but Digory is the one who made the wardrobe from a tree that Aslan gave him the seeds for.

    You should really read the books for the whole story though. ;-}

  • I have. I meant that the professor and aslan are played by the same person. That's what it sounded like.

  • @jimmenlybobble no, he is not. Though that would have been an interesting twist wouldn't it? LOL.

  • I LOVE the books and this version of the movie. I personally lik this better than the theatrical version. More in depth maybe. I love the new version tho too, don't get me wrong. They were both pretty true the book but I think this was more true. :)

  • this is classic..first time to see it.. It's like a theatrical performance...It's creative in that sense...I love the characters. The Hollywood movie, new version is as good..at least for the new generation. It shows a different sense of creativity, something that adapts to the trend of the changing world...the high technology. I guess the message were both delivered well in both movies..that's the most important...Long Live Narnia! hehehe

  • @annety27 you ARE ri8 , this is a threatrical performance, and the cair paravel castle is very small!

  • the costumes here are beautiful

  • the scene at the beach, is that new?

    i've never seen it before...

  • @AlyMea no, but I don't remember it from the first time I watched it either.

  • haha i always notice how the professor bends so low over his work

  • For all the animals some are computer graphics and just people dressed up in them but as for Azlan i loved the way he was in this movie I wonder how they did it for him..

  • 2 people inside some sort of custume, you'll see that by whats on the credits.

  • One thing that disapoints me about this verison is that the narnian clothes they wear at their coronation aren't very pretty. Whenever I read the book I always picture their cornonation clothes as other worldy and beautiful-like something out of a fairytale. The costumes in the disney movie are closer to that mental image if you ask me.

  • What? all you people who like this because they are just like the books. well they are not exact. lucy was supposed to remember spare oom and they fall out not just walking out

  • @aztecboy4212 way to pick nits.

  • those beavers looked more like ugly bears

  • i remeber watching this version in grade 1 and all the way through till like grade 5 or 6 and now that i watched the newer one in english class this kinda freaks me out becasue the people and animals look better and not so scary

  • I really feel like these and the new movies should be viewed as separate entities. Not only is the technology completely different, but the budget of this versus the millions of dollars and all the resources given for the movies is obviously going to make the movies more detailed and have better effects. And the whole fact that the kids are older and (arguably) prettier in the new movies has a lot to do with the audience. Nowadays it's easier to sell cute kids to the masses rather than a group

  • a group of average looking children. Not to mention teenage girls are a lot more likely to go to a movie to oggle a group of teenage/20-something males rather than a group of 11-13 year olds.

That being said, I think this Lucy is just as adorable and Georgie's Lucy. I don't get why everyone's complaining about her or her weight.

  • LOL

I love how all the kids look like they're all the same age in this version...

While the series seems like it was filmed out of someone's backyard and is on the whole rather more anticlimactic and bland compared to the ramped up Hollywood remake, for some reason, I find this Aslan more grand and more appealing than Disney's weaker, feebler one...

  • Hey i remember watching this as a kid. And i have the box set but i love watching it along with Disney ones

  • love Peter checking for his beard!!!!

  • Ah good memories of when i was younger and saw this. love it.

as for the newer movie versions, i liked the 2nd one much more then the 1st but i just love the bbc ones. :D

  • just wonderful :)

  • Very long but well enjoyed and done as only BBC can do it! Aslove was the old man was he not? I really want to see the second part or that disney thing Prince Caspian. I read the movies tanked and they wont be making the third.

  • nope, word is its being released in 2010, or 2011, with no replacements of the actors

  • Pause at 2:05! xD Mohahahaha! :D

  • @Issens LMAO....mature

  • Thankyou so much for uploading this wonderful series! It's nearly impossible to find this on DVD here in Australia. I just sat and watched all 6 episodes in a row, and I'm tempted to watch the other series too!

  • at 2:24, it always makes me feel like the kids had just had their sleepover party and was about to get ready for breakfast. no offence.

  • i read the book before,but i'm glad i watched the movie!!!

  • ok.i was watching this sirial in chanel et 1 about 10 years ago at 3:00 and i say that i want to see it again in greek tv.

  • po re file ti thimithika stin et 1 to ebaze 3 i wra peripou prin apo 10 xronia .αν και ειναι πολυ παλιο γιατι δεν το ξαναπαιζουν στην tv

  • Please comment in English :)

  • Fantastic! I feel sorry for all the young people here who are unable to appreciate the artistry and creativity of this film because their imagination was ruined by computers! Computer graphics are not art! People create art, not machines!

  • Maybe you should try Computer graphics first before you bash it, its not as easy as it looks...

ps. I enjoyed the movie ^____^

  • Actually I have. I didn't say it wasn't difficult I said it wasn't art. I'd call it a science not art.

  • Um, I'm fifteen and I fully appreciate that people create art and not machines.

I watched this when I was younger and absolutely loved it, and I wish they'd stop making cartoons using computer-graphics instead of being hand-drawn because the hand-drawn ones were the best.

I feel kind of insulted that you say my (and the rest of my generation's) imagination is ruined. We're not unappreciative just because we were born later, we had no say in that!

  • lol true, but in a movie that has real actors and locations it's weird to see an animation, isn't it? =p

  • Well, OK the new movie has a better cast, better effects and is in general a much better movie. But just watching this takes me back, and I get a warm feeling inside. Esp. when I hear the theme music, it's so beautiful :)

  • lol "HE's not a tame lion, he's wild"

  • personally this is my favorite version. it might be the childhood memories thing, but the new narnia movie, even with all the great effects and better casting for lucy,it didn't give you that warm feeling that just emanates from this version. when hollywood redoes movies they always try to make them better by spending more money to have better effects but then it just becomes a spectacle and you lose the characters, and all the small details that make this movie so great.

  • i really like the old susan! and i think peter was played well even if he seemed a bit TOO grown up.

  • Aslan is so Adorable :)

  • Thansk HeathenMaiden, appreciated this, many Los Angeles nights staying up reliving childhood memories. Old school really is the best eh?

I see the symbolism strongly now - Aslan as the Sun, bringer of Spring etc. Won't touch on religious elements but the 'sun' symbol seems very strong, leo/lion = sun in ancient cultures and todays astrological symbolism. Aslan came from the east of course, bringer of the dawn. Thanks again!

  • Why is everyone complaining that the special effects were crap?! ERM 1989 PEOPLE! Kids these days... they expect everything to have LED lights on! This was a classic, one of my favourite childhood movies, takes me back to when i was a nipper XD

  • *does standing ovation* Extremely well said! You're spot on!

  • @poppolulu I think they made it this way on purpose to be more creative with costumes rather than let the computers do all the work. They obviously had CGI back in the 1980's, but they probably chose not to use it. One reason is because they probably wanted the theme to appeal more to children, besides it was produced by BBC (British version of ABC) which produces many children shows, therefore the theme would be more classic.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! I remember seeing these in grade school....awesome memories! Considering these were made 20 years before the Walden ones & when tech wasn't that good yet, I still think these BBC ones are awesome. Always brings a smile to my face--even just hearing the music again!

  • Well, thank you for uploading this! I didn't see it as a child (since I'm french) but I recently heard of it and I was curious too watch it. It's a bit poker sometimes (especially the battle scenes^^) but still pleasant!

  • Thanks HeathenMaiden. So many good memories which were lost to me. Thankyou

  • You're very welcome :) It's been nothing but a pleasure serving fellow BBC Narnia fans :D

  • The professor was in Narnia himself at the time of its creation in The Magician's Nephew.

  • It was the little boy Diggory in that one :)

  • I'm so happy to watch these again! It is my favorite adventure of all. I love this version too. Thanks so much for posting!!! :)

  • Not bad. I have that on disc and the new ones and they're both pretty good. But, I imagined Peter older..

  • In the book he's 14

  • I knew that but thanks. Is the actor 14 too?

  • bueno esta peli s mas antigua pero si es mas relatado a igual ke el libro

  • i wish too they made bbc of the shows but i guess we just gotto wait till like 2015 for all of them to be made. i wanna see the magician's nephew to see how it all got started

  • wish there was the BBC the last battle and the other two narnia show

  • "The magician's nephew" and "the horse and his boy"

  • The newer versions rock! I saw Prince Caspian and it was exciting. Better than the first. I still like the first one, but PC is awesome! Tilda Swinton rocked as the White Witch. Sergio Castellitto was an awesome actor. Because of him, I hated Miraz, which means he's very talented. The Disney/Walden Media adaptations are WAY BETTER. The BBC versions are still good.

  • It's funny how they couldn't remember the lamp post, but they instantly remember the McReedys names...

  • LOL

    i remember these

i always remembered lucy being fatter though for some reason :s

  • I love Peter reaching for his beard and realizing it's gone.

  • I AGREE WITH tmarkymark

SHE WAS SO COLD AND ICY - DELICIOUS

  • thanks

i've read all the narnia book

n now i watch it in film

why they don't filmin the whole book?

    why just 4 book?

    o ow

    i'm become greedy now

do i still can come to narnia now?

    hehe

  • I don't understand why some disliked the new version so much. It might have been a little "green-screenish" at times, but I thought it was fantastic. The only thing that's better in this version is Barbara Kellerman.

  • I just disliked the whole... Hollywoodification of the story. The added scenes or lines just didn't fit in, they felt completely unnecessary. Aslan was fantastically made but the rest of the talking animals looked WAY too computerized (like they could have been in Shrek or something). I hated Tilda Swanton as the White Witch. Everything from the way she looked to the way she acted was just...wrong! But apart from that, I do like the new Narnia film - it just could have been SO much better!

  • OH MY GOD HOW COULD YOU HATE TILDA SWINTON?!?

SHE WAS AMAZING AS THE WITCH WITCH ... So much better than Kellermanns melodramatic portrayal

  • I just don't like her at all. She turned the White Witch into a snobby bitch.

  • yes but dont u think the hollywoodification makes it so much more realistic in a sense that you can actually watch it and make believe your there. i mean yea the added lines and things throw the story off a bit but if u get into the movie it doesnt do any damage. and i would truly rather see computerized animals that look amazingly real than a bunch of windows movie maker cartoons and poor quality puppets

  • (To Budaphly)

Then why the heck are you watching this?! Just to make fun of it? If you can't enjoy it for what it is then don't watch it and don't try ro change the people who do!

  • To Budaphly,

For someone who doesn't care about other peoples opinions, you sure are ready to share yours! What makes you think anyone else really cares about your opions???

  • I cannot take somebody seriously when they say "da", "u", "becuz" "tho" "reely". This series came out when I was in 1st grade and my grammar back then was superior to yours... wow..

  • this series is so much better than the new film, the language everything!

  • ermmm...it's basicly a school play

  • it is ??

  • Yay! Nu har jag sett alla avsnitt! Tack HeathenMaiden, kul att du laddade upp den här klassiska serien, nu gäller det bara att få tag i den själv! ^^

  • omg mr. tumnus <3

  • Even if I have been writing bad thins about this so am I greatful. Thanks for posting

  • Great,thank you!

  • Thank you very, very much for posting.

  • You're very welcome :D

  • the reason the others return to Narnia in the last battle is because they're all dead. They died in a train crash. Susan has turned her back on Narnia at that point, but she's still alive. CS Lewis told someone, a fan, in a letter than Susan still had a chance to return and that, who knew, she might have done so since it wasn't recorded in the Chronicles themselves.

  • Really?! That's nice actually - answering his fan's question with a message of hope.
