  • @Nutnfancy My Super Tool 300 has had 3 drivers break off and the pliers are pretty loose. 2 years of use, I expect it to be loose after a couple years but breaking 3 drivers off was unexpected! Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Does anybody know how he stores his knives?

  • @cfogs Actually yes, search "Knife Storage by Nutnfancy".

  • Seems to me that even if they had to sacrifice one of the flat-head drivers in exchange for scissors it would have been worth it.

  • i own a blast, it is a great tool and has never failed me but it just doesnt have that second kinda cool as maybe my sidekick or the charge tti that i will be getting soon

  • Dear Nutn, can you do a review on the leatherman Surge? I believe the Surge would be a better comparison vs the victorinox RS because they both have scissors.

  • I second (or however many people have requested) nightrider2k6's request for a Leatherman Surge review. I'd like to see how you compare it to the multi-tools you mentioned in this video.

  • Cont. actually, at the moment I am carrying my OST, even though I love the replaceable cutters on the 300, because it's thinner and sleeker, and it has a more simple and bombproof locking system than the 300 IMHO. If my OST had replaceable cutters I'd be perfectly happy. As for scissors, I do wish it had them, but I find that there are no MT scissors that can match a pair of Klein 2100-7 communications shears, and since I carry those as well, my ST doesn't require them.

  • I love the leatherman, own a charge TTi,ST,ST300,and a Micra. Love them all. That being said, I have catastrophically broken the charge twice and my original ST once...so none of them are indestructible. I love the tool layout on my charge, but if I had to take it into the field not sure if I could trust my life to it. That's why I roll with a super tool .

  • They make an accessory for the super tool to give you a 1/4" bit holder and it slides over the pliers when in use. Not sure if that's what the back sheath pocket may be for.

  • HMMM, if only i had a set of pliers to hold my cutter head as i sharpen it, AHHHH ill just use my......Oh........shit.

  • everyone is complaining about knives cant accesible from outside. This is not a folding knife this is a tool..Why u guys want to use crappy 420 blade that much?Carry a folder with this, its gonna be superior to st300 knives in all aspects..For me this is a repair, maintance tool not a cutting tool so st300 is my favorite leatherman.Best pliers, and screwdriver blades way better than bit driver.

  • @MrHALOCOUST That's very true. You don't need that super fast opening unless you gotta stab someone. But the reason i choose the Surge over the Supertool, is because of the pocket clip on the Surge. I really don't like carrying tools on my belt, so that's why the Surge gets more carry time than the ST300

  • For a full size M.T., I have the Leatherman Surge. It has outside accessible blades and huge scissors. I think it's a better choice

  • I got a cooler sheath with my satin finish super tool 300 ...

  • The only thing i dislike about the ST300 is that you don't have access to any tools on the outside. If i need a quick knife i don't want to have to open up my tool just to get to it. That's why i prefer my surge when working heavy duty.

  • Great review. I bought the black one...very happy with it...I agree with your comments, but for what I use it for, the ST300 black is perfect for 99% of the jobs I use it for. It feels very comfortable to use without gloves which was my main concern until I started using it. Its a good all round general every day tool to have by your side.

  • I personally don't like the 300, I tried using it to take off my RCO and it felt like it was going to break and it's the most painful mt i've ever used without gloves. My surge and wave feel so much better.

  • keep up the good review

  • I wish the blades and saw were on the outside, and that it had a small magnifying glass and a small gutter knife on it. Also, it'd be nice if the blades were made of something a little stronger. It'd be great if the pins that held it together had some way to easily tighten them, if needed. Maybe add some tweezers and a tooth pick. I don't need all 3 of those flat-head screwdrivers.

  • i carry the wave and the Blast. and the Blast also dosent have bits you can put on it however in the "pocket" i threw in a pair of tweezers holds them perfectly. could also throw in a toothpick. never know when your going to need one of those

  • rediculous everything you'll ever need reviewed, and molle sheath vid response, never cease to amaze

  • @nutnfancy im gonna buy st300 but my only concern is does handles hurts your hand when u are working without gloves?(like me most of the time)

    thank for great review btw

  • I have the older Supertool. I like the Satin finish, for working in dark areas in the Coal Fired Power Plant on Graveyard shift.

I'm thinking of buying a new Supertool. Because of the wire cutting abilities. We use No. 9 wire for Tubelock scaffolding systems.

One thing I hate is other co-workers want to borrow this old tool. I already had one stolen from me.

  • @dulcelake Ask for collateral when someone borrows it. Anytime I lend someone a tool I ask for something of theirs in return. I lent a buddy my multitool so he could set up a shelf, but I made him leave his ID so he'd come give it back to me.

  • I still want a black leather man blast.

  • I've been quite happy with my Leatherman Core for the 5 years I've had it, but I could use a new multi-tool and the Super Tool 300 looks like the perfect pick for me. Thanks for the great review.

  • What about the surge? I think its pretty heavy duty and it has scissors!

  • i just ordered the black st 300 hopefuly it dosnt disipoint

  • @KnifeLover97 I bought the exact one 3 days ago, I am a welder and use my multi tools a LOT! I love my black ST 300 nothing but GREAT things to say about it!!!

  • Hey, yo, he's just keepin' it real.

  • Nutnfancy an you take (ALL) your MT and show us ? that cut be nice! keep up the good work love your Vids!

  • Ok... just had a failure on medium flat tip the other day and was pretty bummed. Then again, I've worked mine pretty hard core since I bought it almost two years ago....but it's still practically brand new by their standards. I'm sending mine back with a letter and I'll give them a call before I send it out.

Still a great product, I just didn't expect the tip to break after trying to loosen a flat head bolt...."ting!" Not a good sound to hear.

  • o shucks, no scissors.

  • is the black version more expensive?

  • @snoozymoo ...Yes. about $20-$30 more

  • With the pliers open, those open-edged hollow handles look uncomfortable. They could use a rounded Zytel edge liner like the Blast series.

  • Hey nutn,

I have recently purchased the black Super Tool 300 based on your review (very well done btw), but I have to say that I'm not so impressed with it. The point is that I can not open the tools (skrewdrivers ect.) without braking my finger nails because it seems that the handles are too tight. So if I need to get a skrewdriver out, I need to push the file against the other tools to use the clumping to get it out. .Sorry for my bad English.Have a very nice day & regards from Germany

  • The file and saw are very helpful to make a bow drill fire kit

  • when it comes to leatherman there is a tool for everyone mine is the wave

  • I still dont understand why people care about how fast you can deploy one of those multitools, do people just think they will pull it off and "ply" a guys head off if they get mugged? this is a multi-tool its made for utility/work purposes not tactical/defencive/offensive purposes. I have a charge tti and i love it, i think for my requirements its better then the supertool 300, im only having to deal with a oxidation problem im having on the pliers... i blame the leather sheath :/.

  • hey nutn, i got my supertool 300 the other day and its great, i bought it mainly because of your review but the locks on the handles seem loose and slide around clicking and clacking, i understand at the end of the day that it is a tool but its really annoying, does yours do this ? and any ideas of how to stop it? thanks

  • I love the plier head, the blades and the file, dislike the drivers but because they are SOOOO thick they steal space from other potential tools. Why do we need nearly 1/4 thick casting for a Phillips head? the older style tools worked great and you had a better variety of them. If I could swap the ST300 pliers on to my ST200, I would, but I'll never buy ST300 because I think it's a step back, not forward.

  • The problem with the ST300 is the castings for the drivers/tools are SOOO thick they can't fit any more in the handle. I don't know if the cast ones are stronger than the older ones or not, but I'd rather have a couple more tools and drivers than a 1/4 thick Phillips head.

  • Avalible on the LLbean website for only $70! (although for some silly reason the wave is 80 and the Chargle ALX is 110)

  • Is there a bottle opener on the phillips?

  • @gooyzit that little hook on the Phillips driver is actually for deployment.

  • sog power lock vs super tool 300. who wins?

  • almost the perfect tool, except it lacks a pair of scissors

  • You cant put a leatherman in a gerber case! Thats like acid and base; chaos and conflict is inevitable. The case feels jealous and inferior, and the leatherman feels sullied and violated.

Good review otherwise. cant wait for my supertool 300 to arrive...

  • really nice review, as always! Great multi-tool!

  • supertool 300 is strongest

  • NO SCISSORS? Ugh.... that's kind of ridiculous for a large tool. I would rather have scissors than several knives on a multi-tool.

I guess you have to get the really big ones to get everything in one package. I don't really want to carry a 12oz surge though.

  • Its 155$ over here in Germany^^

  • The supertool 300 does take a revovable bitdriver but its that stupid thick bitholder that you place over the phillips screwdriver. another minus is: you cant't close the tool with the bitholder on. that's a shame!!! I myself have the leatherman core and I like the OLD leather sheath! Thanks for your great video's

  • hey have you done a review on the MUT? also if you do one will you compare it to the charge?

    thanks

  • hay nutnfancy i want to get them but how rust resistent r they i wants to get them for fishing the silver ones please respond

  • Great trailer man!! going to watch this in webmovietube

  • 4:00 you could grip the wire cutter blade in the pliers while sharpening if you dont have swap-out blades.

  • I really enjoy nutnfancies videos. I appreciate what you do, thank you.

  • Just ordered mine :-D

  • im thinking of including this in my SHTF survival kit

  • have you had a chance to see the MUT model LEatherman? if so, how would you compare/contrast the Charge tti with it? am trying to decide on a good medium size MT somewhere between the Juice and ST300

  • @HvinnyTheViking my aunt works for leatherman. she actualy assembles them and has nothing good to say about the MUT she says its not vary good for some reason. reports of it falling apart and stuff so take it with a grain of salt but you cant get a better insight on something than from someone who puts them together lol. and on another note she swears by any of the charge models and the super tool.

  • I (so far) have the key chain "Style", "Juice s2", and recently obtained this "ST300" in it's blackened incarnation from a craigslist purchase and though I have only had it apx a month, it has become my favorite and my daily MT carry, Love it, recommend it, and paid about 1/2 price for it. what's not to love?

I may have saved enough to put the saving towards a MUT :) (spendy but Purdy)

Thanks for the vid, this one really helped me make the decision to go for it

  • You see a wire crimper. I see a roach clip. :D

  • I had an original super tool which was sweet but I recently lost it. I replaced it with one of these and agree with your conclusions about it. Its a fairly heavy duty tool which is only hampered by the lack of scissors. I had a few small issues with it though. I got a nylon sheath with mine and the hole at the bottom thats supposed to let you deploy the pliers from inside the sheath is too small to get the head through. The sides of the pliers head also had unground down areas. Otherwise it rock

  • the leathermen cost here in holland 130eu+ and thats suck

i got the swiss one,and like it

  • Hey @nutnfancy, I got to ask youa question. Does your supertool wable a bit on the blade lock part? Mine does and I am not sure why, but do you know anything to do about this? Thank You

  • i carry a HD multi-tool (leatherman wave) for most of the jobs i do with it i dont need a HD multi-tool but when i do need one im so glad i have it with me! love leathermans, best MT company out there!

  • Hey nutn love the vids I own the Leatherman Wave, Blast, Super Tool 300 and my favorite edc s2 Juice. use to own a Pst and an Original super tool. Btw the Charge TTI straight blade is S30V Stainless. Rock On Man!

  • The pocket in the back of the leather sheathe is to house the removable bit adapter - the whole kit fits in there. The adapter attaches over the head of the phillips head driver and can mount all kinds of heads that come with the kit.

  • i think the WAVE buries the 300.

  • anybody know why the leatherman nylon sheath made from china ?

  • you freaking rock Nutn.

  • at my local gun shop they have a brand new never used 200 i was very surrised to see it there

  • @purzheen You dont like polymer pistols do you...

  • I found a Core at TJMaxx for 19.95. I didn't get it and I kicked myself for it for months.

  • shit!! they sell these things in saudi arabia for much as SAR475 for a leatherman charge, about $125. thats why nobody wants it there.

  • No pliers that affective on a Geber? Dude check out the Gerber Deluxe Legend, they did the replaceable cutters LONG before Leatherman

  • what are the best heavy duty, and medium duty multi-tools?

  • Great video! I have a question. would you recommend the leatherman wave for every day use? I also do a lot of four wheeling and I am looking for a durable but inexpensive tool between 60 and 80 dollars. Please message me with your opinion.

  • @zlevesque1 Ben Says it would be good lol

  • Recommend Heinne(.)com for European viewers

  • You forgot to mention the wire stripper on the can opener. I'm a tech and I love this st300. I don't want scissors. Never thought scissors in a multitool were anything but a useless gimmick

  • You should right a book nutunfa

  • Hey nutnfancy u can get the molle sheath on it's own but it also comes with any black oxide multi tool from leatherman but it just bepends on where u get I get mine at camping survival.com and all their black leatherman products r nice n coon w/ molle black tatical sheath

  • i want one for my b day. since i carry a backpack, the weight doesn't matter soo much.

  • great review...I have to agree with a few of the other comments... the leatherman surge is the tool to carry. It is a tank, but has the capabilities that the weight affords in spades. I carry mine hiking and hunting. When not out in the great outdoors, it lives in my truck.

  • Rocks

  • Dude... real quick story...Rode into work on the moto today....getting off the highway and downshifting and the chain pops off.... I'm like "What the (insert few choice words here)?!??! How am I going to fix this?". It took me all of 3 seconds after that to remember my ST300 is ALWAYS in my pack! Took me 15 minutes to fix it and off I went! That's the 2nd time it's helped me with my bike and even MORE times in different circumstances.

    BEST $55 I ever spent!

    Thanks for your help bro!

  • Please review sog power assist b66-n!

  • FYI the core is no longer being produced.. =(

    ThANKS FOR THE VIDS

  • nutn i gotta disagree with you on how you catagorize pou i think not in weight but in size if it is heavier it could just mean it is poorly made but in handle length leverage comes in too still great reviews keep it on

  • Thanks for the review. Great , as always. One question though: how is the comfort on your hands when squeezing the pliers with force? Do the handles cut into your hands, or is it still ok?

  • Supertool 300 would have dethroned the Swisstool X as the best superize multitool if they had done just two things differently

Put a super sized DIAMOND FILE IN THE DAMN THING..Now you have Knife Sharpening capability... Leathermans diamond file is the best in MT Land, to not include it wa an EPIC FAIL. An MT is so you have A tool... So why include TWO KNIVES? The Serated Knife should have been S2 Sissors.

SwissTool X got it right on the tool selection.. a knife, file, sissors, saw,

  • I very much wanted to buy the Leatherman Supertool 300... In fact i wanted it more then the Swisstool X.... But the deal breaker was the fact that as usual, Leatherman blew it once again...

The Deal breaker...... Leatherman didnt put the best MT file known to man in the Supertool... Their awesome Diamond File..

I bought the SwissTOOL X.. Better in every way save no removeable cutters... whatever... knife, file, saw, and SISSORS in a supersize 4.5" HD tool...

    Leatherman loses again..

  • Just picked up a brand new Supertool 300 in the black finish today at my local gun store. Thanks so much for the hands on footage and the good review. Just another way you (nutn) are making positive influences on my gear choices. Thanks so much!

  • i called up leatherman for an idea for a mt for electrical workers it is simply a modified st300 i took out the 2 smallest flatheads saw phillips and the awl and put in scissors small bitchanger and a new thought from me a wulti guage wire stripper almost like a mini one but without all the weight and the bit driver can hold larger bits and can lock the bits pretty cool huh

  • I know your a big knife guy and you typically have gloves, but I think you overlooked the benifet of having rounded edges on the inside like in the swiss knife, it makes it more comfortable to use the pliers and wire cutters, it's actually a significant engineering challenge to put the tools on the outside of the case and comfort when using the pliers is a major reason why you'd do it

  • The SuperTool could be vastly improved by ditching the serated blade and replacing it with the sissors from the Juice S2... With that single change the SuperTool would now offer its user a knife,Saw,File, and Sissors. There are very few if any scenarios where a SHARP plain edge cant do the same job as well as a serated blade...yet there ARE many tasks where having a sissor vastly improves your capabilities... Would make it the Ultimate Hard Use Blue Collar / Survialists MultiTool....

  • I have the Charge ALX. LOVE IT! The two things I might change are; the lack of scissors and the inadequate crimpers. If the ALX had the H.D., behind the hinge crimper that the Core and ST300 models had, ... I'd be drooling.

  • i dont rlly like the idea of having multiple size bits actuall connected to the tool when you could just use 1 driver with an adjustible bit set- just seems kinda redundant

  • i'd rather have a 10 oz tool which will perform than a 3 oz tool that breaks while turning a bolt.

  • i have a charge tti and want the super tool 300, would that be a good trade in your opinion? and are there any sites where i can do trades like that?

  • @dakotayor sierra trading post

  • Comment removed

  • Great tool but a bit pricey

  • I need one of these for MWS, and as usual, it's off to the Nutnfancy project for reviews and what to look for before I buy. Thanks dude for such extensive research!

  • I heard the "drainage hole" on the black model's sheath was actually to allow you to sheath the tool in it's open position, allowing the neadlenose jaws to poke out. Was the same way with the Wave's case.

    Nice review BTW!

  • @inferno999m YES!

  • Charge TTI vs Supertool 300 vs Swisstool RS ?

I know MD vs HD vs HD but i was wondering if you gain SO much capability with the HD ones.

    Thanks guys

  • is the molle sheat good with the charge tti? i mean does it fit in it or is it too big and does its have the pockets for the bit kit (heard it has two pockets?)

ps. the leather sheat sucks dont get it even that it looks nice...

  • @archerLS I know how you feel, the original leather sheaths were awesome, used higher quality leather, and were much more durable than the new ones. But they work, although I do prefer the nylon sheaths as well.

  • For sharpening your replaceable cutting tool you could hold them with your swisstool and sharpen them with the super tool file lol. I'd love to see this Supertool 300 in the field, especially that saw and sheeps-foot "rescue" blade. lol @ "armsrace of the multitool!" hope this doesnt post more than once

  • For sharpening your replaceable cutting tool you could hold them with your swisstool and sharpen them with the super tool file lol. I'd love to see this Supertool 300 in the field, especially that saw and sheeps-foot "rescue" blade. lol @ "armsrace of the multitool!"

  • Thanks for the Review Nutn!

Just wanted to mention that I think that's not a huge drainage hole on the storage pouch. I've heard that it's for storing them in an "opened" position for faster deployment, so you really don't have to close them when you store it away.

  • Im pretty sure this is the biggest mt leathermen makes so you cant really compare it to any other of them.

  • It replaces ST-200 which Leatherman got barks about deleting. All those dainty are just toys

  • Comment removed

  • ST-300 hands down!!!!!!!!

  • awesome review, next on my list after the charge tti.

  • And the leather pouch eventually softens up. I love it

  • You should look at the Leatherman WAVE. These come in silver or black with the MOLLE sheath. I have a silver one that I use as my EDC

  • Comment removed

  • WAVE is not resilient., Try prying a railroad brake shoe out with it.

  • What I found is that a MOLLE pistol magazine pouch works great as a sheath if you don't like the leather one

  • hey Nutn, you should put a annotation saying the leatherman core is now retired.

    glad i own one.

  • I think that I may have found a better carry case then the nylon molle sheath. I recently purchased a Tactical Tailor multi-tool carrying case off of the U.S. Cavalry website. This thing is great. Its adjustable via a strap and clip and comes with what i believe is the proprietary "Malice" clip to secure it to the molle webbing on my pack.

The clip secures it to my gear better than any other chief I've tried and the adjustable strap means it can handle any Multitool I own. I'm happy with it.

  • @blackflag1966

That sounds like a production problem to me. Go to the Leatherman website and download their packing slip .pdf and fill it out. If my experience is any judge they will mail you either a repaired, or a new tool within 1-2 weeks with no charge.

  • Honestly I would love to own this tool for my "breakdown bag" that I keep in my car.

  • This is such a serious tool. Great review as always Nutn.

  • can u rlly go wrong with leatherman? they dont really have any bad tools

  • Nice review.

  • Great review and tool, I have the silver one and its my favorite MT because of the better pliers and cutters. Really digging the looks and sheath of the black one now after watching your vid.

  • sweet i might just get the super tool 300 haha

  • Looks like they used the same leather sheath for the Surge which comes with accessories; that's what the back pocket is for. Guess they didn't want to spend the money to design a new sheath for the ST300.

  • Why doesn't the silver version have a crimper in the pliers?

  • A tough call between ST300 and the Swiss Tool. I think i'd rather go Swiss tool to be honest for it's exterior tools and better tool selection. But if they took the leatherman surge and gave it removable cutting jaws. Game, set, mach dude. I'd pick that surge any day.

  • Another great review!!!

Whats the difference between the 831105 and the 831102 (with sells for over $80 most places including Walmart)?

  • I noticed this too - there are a lot of different model numbers... it's a little confusing.

  • LoL the song at the begining remides me of the old computer game "Sydicate".. Another good vid, very thorough reviews, love it.

  • Love the info. I have the Leatherman Surge, which I quite enjoy. Beefy and heavy at 12.5 oz. it also has a bit holder which can be enhanced with a 21-bit kit and/or a bit extender if you don't mind the extra weight. It would be great if they had the replaceable wire cutter blades.

  • I got a SwissChamp Army Knife this Christmas (not a "Multi-Tool", to make the distinction). It's already come in handy in many situations. But! Though it has scissors, it's also supposed to come with pliers, and wouldn't ya know it, it didn't! I have yet to write to them about it.

But at least the blades are razor sharp. Already cut myself on one of those things, works like a charm I'll tell you what.

  • That black 1 looks tight!

  • I like the wave better, the supertools handles look odd to me with the ruler like that, and the lack of bit drivers available on half the other tools is rage inducing.

  • Great info, appreciate the reviews.

  • hey nutnfancy,

i just read that story you were talking about(the one about the farmer who sawed off his cow's horn) and the farmer actually cut off a horn from his horned crow

  • How are you gonna hold the blades to sharpen? c'mon nutn...use another leatherman ;)

Always remember the up-sell my friend.

    Keep up the good work.

  • I prefer the swiss army knife..how about you, what do you think about these knife

  • I still prefer the Leatherman Wave.

  • TNP is The Nutnfancy Project...and we acolytes are TNPR's...

  • Thank you, take care.

  • Been watching for a while, and hate to ask this,, but what does TNP stand for,, I come up with several in my head but I don't know :(

  • Please go to Nutnfancy's channel and read the title, it's all there ^^

  • well I feel like a goober now lol,, I did and now I know, thanks!

  • n/p dude :)

  • TNP = The Nutnfancy Project

The people (we) who watch the video's of TNP are TNPR's.

  • Hey Linux, you must like the Ubuntu distro: a guy asked an obvious question, you returned a valid answer. I'm more of a Gentoo guy: I said go to Nutn's channel and see (equivalent of "compile from source by hand"). Hilarious! You gotta comment more, bro.

  • i had a leatherman pst 2years back alot of the tool broke off maybe there making them better now . i carry a sog paratool but these new leathermans look bad ass i might get one.

  • this is the firsttime, "nut fancy" did the greatest product review in my opinion. this letherman ROCKs.... by the way, it's proven traditional & totally modified for the people who really did used on fields over fields & even in any urban situations. Top over the Top item to carry around. Must have item.

  • would you recommend this for a disaster pack, like you urban one, if not then what would you recommend?

  • I think you have a spelling error in an annotation that affects the meaning - you said "NOT larger handle cutouts for accessing main blades with gloves too", but I think you meant "NOTE"

thanks for the great review, keep 'em coming

  • Good eye, Bush! Thanks so much -- Veri

  • No exterior access to tools=FAIL
